I'm not the kind of person to leave reviews for anything but I really felt the need to share my experience. Recently, my coworker picked us up lunch from this place and she thought with me being Hawaiian that I would love it. I did not. I've never been so insulted for my culture and my people to have even wasted the money on this "Poke" which by the way does not have a kahako over the "o" in Poke, that's not Hawaiian language. What you're essentially paying for is gentrification in a bowl----a bunch of random toppings and 4 ounces of fish covered in kikoman shoyu and avocado. It's common for places like this to pop up especially in the lower 48 but this is not Aloha or Hawaiian by any means and I'm sure anyone that doesn't know any better would say it's good. #AlohaOnlyForProfit #SayNoKanakaMaoli #HawaiianByBlood&Culture REPLY: "Poke" in Hawaiian means to cut and dice---its hawaiian language that originated in Hawaii. Just fish out of the ocean and Hawaiian Salt. Japan and Hawaii are both islands with rich marine life, but the only influence a japanese immigrant could have had was adding soy sauce. All the pickled toppings and random sauces came into style over time, it is in no way traditional. Your business has all of the elements of a wonderful Asian Café, like the ones in Japan or Korea, the pastries were good and the drinks were delicious. My issue is the misuse of the word Poke and the word Aloha, they simply...
Read moreMy hubby and I gave Sakana Poke & Soiree in midtown Anchorage at the Metro Mall (next to Marie's Beauty Supply) a go recently.
Wow, what we experienced was great fresh and healthy food, a cozy and bright atmosphere and super friendly, quick customer service. I ordered the Salmon Run bowl and he ordered the Aloha Ahi bowl though we could have built our own bowls 🍛. I also had the Sea Salt Caramel soy milk latte ☕(they make the flavor in house). He had the Matcha (not in photo). Everything was delicious!!! We loved everything about our time there and highly recommend you check it out too!
The prices were on par for Anchorage. They use eco-friendly products whenever possible, bowls on the way. Of course, it's the same old exterior Metro Mall and parking lot from the outside, but the inside is two floors of an escape to brighter and warmer climates. They also offer renting the place for events 😃
Open Tues- Sat, 0900-1800. Will definitely be going there and back...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Sakana Poke Cafe in Anchorage, Alaska, and it was truly exceptional. The poke bowl I ordered was outstanding, with every ingredient clearly made from scratch and devoid of any processed elements. The freshness and quality of the ingredients shone through in each bite, making for a truly satisfying meal. To complement my meal, I tried the black sesame latte, which was nothing short of delightful. The rich, nutty flavor of the black sesame perfectly balanced the sweetness, creating a delightful harmony of tastes. Overall, Sakana Poke Cafe offers a unique and delicious dining experience that I...
