Many high-end luxury retailers claim to have ethical sourcing and the “best leather in the world,” but in reality, the transparency stops short. This is a cool shop, but certainly lacking in communicating/connecting with its target audience (men). I recently came into the shop for the first time. I found that while looking around & shopping, a worker (I’m assuming the owner) would comment and say that certain outfits/clothes would look “cute” on me. I found this interesting since the shop is marketed as a “men’s clothing and lifestyle” store. Men do not want to be seen or viewed as “cute.” Any man shopping in a men’s clothing store is there to look macho and masculine. Additionally, when I was leaving, the owner called me “buddy” twice. No man wants to be called “buddy” - this is a term reserved for young boys or dogs. Very demeaning. I also made a similar comment on their Instagram page, and rather than reaching out to apologize or accept the feedback, they blocked me and deleted my comment. This will be the first and last time I spend money at this shop. Hope the owner can learn how to talk to her audience because, again, this is a “men’s clothing and lifestyle”...

Where to begin?? Nadia, the store owner, immediately greeted us when me and my friend entered the store, and was very happy to explain the mission and values of Above Snakes. Nadia was able to discuss all of the products on sale, and left no detail out, and was above all, supremely sweet and friendly to speak with. I will certainly be returning to Above Snakes as often as I can. The clothes and items are perfect for anyone who wants to spruce up their visual aesthetic, and of course, the fact that it's all ethically sourced is just fantastic.
