Where, oh where shall I start?!
Arrived at the hotel we reserved on Expedia to find it closed. A sign on the door offered a phone number to call for alternative accommodations at another hotel of the same owner. Husband called that number and accepted the offer of a comparable room at the other hotel about 20min away. Not ideal, but how bad could it be, right? Well, let me tell you!
The hotel is located in the worst part of North Houston ā Aldine, where I would not stop alone, even in broad daylight. I didn't protest immediately because, at least, hubby was with me. He went in to check in, and thus began more problems.
First, we were charged for the room we had reserved + a $60 incidentals deposit. THEN, we were charged an additional $400 for no known reason. When hubby protested, the desk clerk insisted she'd had nothing to do with the second charge and could not, therefore, reverse it. Only after he called me to come in, and I began loudly restating that she had overcharged us did she miraculously figure out how to reverse the $400 charge ā all while still insisting she had not initiated it! The gall was shocking, but the room appeared reasonably clean, so we decided to stay. BIG mistake.
Almost every time we left the hotel, they deactivated our room keys, so we went through at least seven sets of cards in an eight-day stay!
The halls routinely reeked of pot 24/7.
At 4am one morning, we were awakened by water pouring from the ceiling above our shower ā clearly leaking from the shower above. We notified the front desk, but nothing was done about it, so we were awakened again at 4am the next day!
Many of the people occupying the lotel appeared to be long-term residents and behaved as though intoxicated/high.
The hotel is understaffed, so housekeeping is done only when someone happens to be around, not when requested.
Requests for additional pillows and towels were usually met with argument or outright refused.
The chain lock on the door was barely attached to the wall, and added absolutely no additional security.
The sliding glass door out to the pool had tracks so filthy that it could not be opened and closed until hubby cleaned it himself.
Instead of properly maintaining the pool, some employee just randomly throws whole chlorine tablets into it.
If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I regretted every minute that I hadn't flat refused to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAVOID THIS PLACE. THE MANAGER SCAMS!!! If I could give a zero I would. I booked with Expedia, coming to Texas for the first time ever. After standing in a rental car line for HOURS and having to pay over 400 in fees that weren't even expressed I get to the hotel to be told that "expedia's card declined" and because of that, the system automatically cancelled my reservation. It really didn't add up. So I had to spend hours on the phone with Expedia. Then I come back later only to be told that the manager said someone called and cancelled it. Another bogus story. After finally talking to the Expedia rep I found out that the Manager (who magically left for the day after I started complaining) LIED and said that I personally called and cancelled my reservation before I showed up. Now why would I fly all the way to Texas to cancel a reservation and then come to the hotel and lie. That makes no sense. Turns out they purposely overbooked because of the Junior Olympics (the event we were attending) and when they were full, they cancelled our reservation and tried to blame Expedia and US!!!! To make it worse the hotel isn't exactly near much but the highway so after being there for over an hour I had to sue the bathroom ESP since I came straight from the airport and when I asked they told me it wasn't public and only for guests....as if I CLEARLY didn't have a reservation in the system that they cancelled -_-. Aesthetically, the hotel looks very dingy and gross. There very suspect people lingering in and out of the hotel and it isn't in the best area. Only reason for the one star was the one lady at the front desk who tried to be nice to me. The manager should be FIRED. Completely unprofessional. We were literally out of a place to stay and they just shrugged and did nothing to accommodate THEIR blunder. If not for Expedia we would have been stranded. DO NOT book at this hotel, the manager scams by overbooking and cancels reservations and blames the person. Please read and listen to this review as a warning. Choose...
