When we decided to include a visit to The Henry Ford on our vacation itinerary, I spent a lot of time investigating every possible way to pay for the tickets and to find decent, affordable accommodations. During this process, I called the front desk of the Best Western Greenfield Inn multiple times. It was obvious the employees were very busy. Nonetheless, each time I was greeted by very agreeable people who patiently answered every one of my questions. It was evident that we had hit a home run as soon as we arrived. Appearance-wise, the building could compete with a higher end hotel. The place is beautifully decorated, with the walls of the halls lined with pleasant framed pictures centered on an automobile motif. Even the wide stairwells are very nicely painted and carpeted. Our room couldn’t have been nicer. If I had to choose something about which to say something negative, I’d have to pick the size of the bathroom. It’s a bit small but more than adequate. Saying that, although, for my tastes, there could have been more places to hang towels, it had more towel racks available than any other hotel bathroom I’ve used. It even had a retractable line on which I could hang my swim clothes to dry. In spite of being adjacent to major roads, the place is quiet. Navigating the halls could be confusing except for the wonderful signage. The first thing we did was to sign up for the shuttle to The Henry Ford, the cost being part of our package. That saved us having to brave traffic in an area unfamiliar to us and having to pay a $6 parking fee. Going, the shuttles leave on a schedule. Coming back, we called when we were ready to be picked up; our wait was very short. Both drivers were so personable. The vehicles were attractive and clean. We were given four vouchers for The Henry Ford. It was up to us to order which sections of it we wanted to visit, which we did when we redeemed them at The Henry Ford. We received vouchers which gave us four choices for breakfast in the attached restaurant. The food is made to order and absolutely delicious. If anyone leaves hungry, something is wrong. The portions are huge. Everything was included in the package: coffee, tea, juice, even the tip! I used the pool. Although it is inside the building, that section is surrounded by a very relaxing interior outdoor-like area with foliage (real or fake – didn’t check this out), tables, chairs, and table umbrellas, and it is lovely. Sorry, can’t think of the wording I want. For a hotel, the pool is huge. The water was perfect. Although it was crowded, the size allowed me to easily swim as I had wanted. The number of pool towels available were abundant. The absolute best asset this property has is a wonderful staff. Every person with whom we interacted came across as being genuinely affable. The atmosphere greatly contributed to our break from the daily grind. Based on my experience, I highly recommend the Best Western Greenfield Inn to anyone who needs lodging in the...
Read moreI have been a guest at your property for years, over 7 years to be exact. Every time I go to Michigan (several times a year) I've enjoyed staying at your hotel. I recently checked in 6/27 for 1 night. When I arrived to check in, Jennifer told me there is a "fee" for a voucher/bfast. I simply asked "Really? I've never had to pay for breakfast before, can you check if my room rate has the breakfast included?" Mid sentence of my very REASONABLE question, Jennifer yelled out "CALM DOWN," very angrily, with a very INHOSPITABLE and mean look on her face. Jessica was nearby and witnessed it all, but unfortunately, she did not intervene.
I was very upset and felt disrespected, especially in front of two other customers in line and your other check in staff being right next to her, not intervening. I did tell her that I had a simple question, I was calm, and there was NO REASON to ask a grown adult to "calm down." I also stated I had an upcoming reservation Jul 1-6th ($600) I will probably cancel due to the disrespect.
It gets worse, Jennifer simply walks away to the back and leaves me, NOT yet checked in, she just LEAVES me, a paying customer for years, and wanders behind the check in wall to an office. Jessica checked me in, and when I told her thats no way to treat a customer, tells me "I was over here helping someone else, I didn't hear anything." I called yesterday and left a Voicemail on manager's line, no call back. I have now cancelled my $600 reservation, and probably will NEVER book again at your property. I also will post about my experience on facebook, x.com, and other social media and write to corporate. I don't take disrespect kindly, and don't tolerate it by any means simply for inquiring about a basic transactional and relevant question. Lack of communication from management shows me customers are not valued at your property. Jennifer is a liability for this establishment, she has ZERO customer service skills and doesn't have any business being employed by ANY hospitality industry franchise. Don't be upset Jennifer at this review, just "CALM DOWN!"
UPDATE** The owner reached out by phone. Sounds like a nice guy and decent manager, but unfortunately the experience was too much. There are hotels everywhere, noone "has" to stay where they feel disrespected and treated in any type of disrespectful way by line staff. Unfortunately, in this case the options were explored, reservation was canceled, and will not even look to stay here again. Again, too many options. My advice is to replace your staff who treat loyal customers like crap with someone who knows how to be hospitable to guests. Businesses lose with people who don't care. If enough people cancel and refuse to book in the future, nothing is too big for failure. Thanks for...
Read moreI wanted to love it, but unfortunately there were more than a couple negatives. First off, my daughter cut her foot badly on a sharp spot on the floor of the pool. There was blood everywhere and I told the front desk lady and she just handed me a bandaid and walked away. I said I needed a few because the pool cut my child badly, and she seemed annoyed. Then we went to dinner in the restaurant where we were the only table and the service was SLOW. We wasted over an hour and a half of our time here just trying to eat and pay. After dinner we went to buy snacks in the “gift shop,” we found at least 6 varieties of things that were expired. I told the front desk woman and she said “oh.” I did purchase something and thanked her and she said “yeah.” Next, the beds are LOUD. They make a banging sound every time you move, and the rooms are very bright at night. Black mold came out of the ice machines. Next, the pool closes from 11-1 every day. Check out is 12. They should close it at 12 so that people can use it for the last hour, my child was very disappointed to have to sit out for an hour before we left. The thermostat…you have no control over it. We were all uncomfortably hot all night. We set it to 55 and it never dropped below 70. It was 82 at one point. We slept terrible all sweating. There’s no air conditioner, no fan, nothing. Just an old, outdated broken thermostat. Last, the free breakfast buffet is SAD. No pancakes, no make it yourself waffles, no danish…eggs, sausage, tater tots, cereal and yogurt. We had talked about coming back next week to try the jacuzzi suite when we first got here before all these issues. It’s too bad they are ignoring some obvious problems. The biggest issue in my opinion was the staff ignoring my need for help when my child was injured here, as well as the extremely hot rooms with loud beds. Giving it 2 stars ONLY because it’s a cute place and the pool is decent aside from being a bit dangerous. Also the hot tub limit is 5. I’m typically not one to review unless I’m really unhappy…I’m REALLY unhappy with the stay here.
EDIT: now changing my review to one star. I came here with my sick child specifically to let her sit in the hot tub for pain relief. It’s 9am and the hot tub is closed, apparently down for a week. I’m so disappointed. I have a crying kid now because she can’t be in the hot tub today. Don’t waste your money. My kid said we would have been better off going to the...
