The Allen Park, Michigan Home Depot has just made me a Lowe’s customer for the foreseeable future.
I came in today for some foam stripping to put between a window air conditioner and a window frame to keep cold air in and critters out. As I was looking for it, a woman I took to be the manager asked if she could help me. I told her what I was looking for and she asked a nearby employee for help. The employee directed us to aisle 14. The manager told the employee he was wrong and led me ten aisles in the opposite direction.
As we were walking, she asked why I didn’t have central air. I explained that I had central air downstairs in my house and that I only had a window unit in a rarely used attic loft. She asked if i was interested in an estimate for central air and would not take no for an answer when I reiterated I didn’t need it for the seldom used room.
Meanwhile we had arrived at the aisle where she thought my seals were, and they were nowhere to be found. She asked another employee for help and we were directed back to aisle 14 where I found what I was looking for.
I didn’t ask this woman for help. It looks a lot like she approached me with the intent to upswell me and to direct me to the wrong aisle to get more time for her pitch. I could have found what i was looking for in less time if I had no “help” at all.
I’ve spent thousands at this Home Depot over the years, but the foam window seals I bought today are the last purchase I’ll ever make at Home Depot. If you’re going to treat your customers like walking sacks of money rather than people, I’ll shop at Lowe’s...
Read moreOrdered 4 interior doors from Home Depot. It took a month for a installer to come measure. Over a week to contact me after measurements, and then install was over 2 weeks out! Fast forward to the day before install. I Get a call confirming that I will receive a call no later than 10am with my install time the next day, and to make sure driveway and sidewalk are cleared and salted (Michigan in January) I contacted my babysitter (I have 3 children 5 and under) and confirmed with my employer I was taking the day off. Morning of install I did as requested and prepared the area that was going to be worked in only to receive a call at 10am saying my back hurt and the earliest I can get there is Saturday, if you can’t do that day I don’t know when I can do it. I have since spoken to Home Depot and was essentially told well take the Saturday that’s the earliest they can do it. HOW UNPROFESSIONAL! Even when I stated Saturday is a very busy day for me and I didn’t know if I can get the kids out of the way with a babysitter, it was reiterated that Saturday is the only day they can guarantee install. Never once was I asked what day is best for you or what can we make work. I am so disappointed and really am tempted to cancel the order. I will update as I haven’t cancelled yet. Read moreThe fridge we bought is 29.5 inches in depth. We have three doors that lead to the kitchen; 1st door is 36 inches, 2nd is 35 inches, 3rd is 31 inches.
We paid for delivery/installation + extra service fee to move old fridge to another room.
Delivery/Movers refused to do the service claiming that the new fridge “wouldn’t fit” through the doors (obviously false, it would).
Refused to move old fridge to another room even though we paid $30 extra for this specific service - Refused to take the doors off of old fridge so they fit through the doors which SHOULD be a part of their service (Lowe’s company did it for us - we bought our old fridge from there), but I cooperated and assured my dad will take the doors off, and they still refused to wait 2 minutes for his arrival.
Left/drove off mid-me-talking and said in the end that WE refused their service (just so they could leave - we never said that). Refused to give me their names, and their attitude was HORRIBLE the entire time.
Called Home Depot Fairlane and explained everything that happened with their delivery; they refused to compensate anything and said we would have to come in store, re-purchase it, and wait another 12 days for delivery although “it might happen again” they said. NEVER dealing with this place again. The service is on the floor.
