So. Very. Many. Things. I only stay in Hilton-branded hotels. First and foremost, I can not believe Hilton has their name on this place. It wasn't very pleasant. We had two rooms. Let's start with the dirty rag still hanging on our shower curtain rod in one room, and the rag with a blood stain folded up in the "clean" linens in our other room. I'm still praying there was nothing communicable in that blood as my son wiped his hands on it before noticing the stain. When brought to the attention of the front desk staff, we were told, "It happens sometimes, the washers don't work so good." Way to make us feel great about staying in a "possibly" clean hotel! Then we can move on to "breakfast". It was almost non-existent. There was no syrup for the waffles, the eggs were ice cold, there was NO juice, and the fruit looked days old. When asked if new food was coming out, we were told, "No"—just no, full stop, no explanation, no apology. When we addressed the issue with the front desk manager, we were told they ran out because there were so many people there. Really? This was all three mornings, and we were down for breakfast by 8 am! I can't imagine what the 9 am people got. Next up is ALL of the parking spots are marked "no parking, fire lane". Not nearly enough spots for all of us. On our last night, I asked for a bar of soap to replace the one I used. I was given a "recycled" bar by the front desk and told it was fine, and they used them all the time. It was VERY used and out of the original packaging. She just handed me a bar of soap that looked like it came from her sink at home. Lastly, TWO mornings as we were leaving, there were spills outside the elevator on our floor. We reported them to the desk as well. One of them was still there when we got back. The staff are mostly really nice, just VERY apathetic about concerns brought to their attention and not very well versed on the quality one expects from the Hilton name brand. I'm praying it may just be this Spark and not all, but I am not very hopeful. I won't be able to compare it, though, because I will NEVER stay at another SPARK, ever. I have learned my lesson. I get the concept of SPARK being geared toward the budget-minded, but come on. VERY...
Read moreI have not stayed at this hotel yet. I have a reservation to stay and that is the subject of my review. I called the reservation number and asked for availability. I was told there were no rooms available for the time I needed but the agent said he would check other available hotels in the area. The agent said upon checking he found one hotel within walking distance of the hotel I had called about that had a room but the price was much higher than the hotel I called. Since I really needed the room because my granddaughter was getting married I booked it. I did ask why the price was so much higher than the price it shows online as I did go online to see the prices. I was told by the agent it’s due to the date I needed it and it also might be a scam. Ok I booked it. As I thought more about it it really started bothering me. I then called the reservation number of the hotel that it showed online for the hotel I had booked the reservation. I asked the agent for availability and was told that unfortunately there were no rooms available but he would check other hotels to see if he could find one. The agent came back and said he found one at a hotel that was within walking distance of the hotel I had inquired about but the price was higher than what I saw online. The hotel was the one I had originally called and was told they had no rooms. I hung up and called a third hotel and went through the same process, no availability let me check others, they have one room, higher price within walking distance of the hotel I called about. I hung up and called a fourth hotel, same story and was told there was one rat the hotel I previously called about within walking distance of this one but the price is higher than it shows on line. 4 calls, same story, oh and no refund as this is the only room available. I’m 72 and it’s believed at this age I’m old and forgetful and hard of hearing. I can assure you I heard every word and remember everything I was told. In all fairness to the hotel maybe they don’t know what’s happening at the number that shows to call for reservations but I just wanted to post this and I’m wondering how many others might have experienced the same what appears to be a ‘scam’ that one agent...
Read moreAfter staying at Hiltons and Tru Hotels by Hilton for years, I thought I could trust a Spark by Hilton but NEVER again will that mistake be made. Go somewhere else, anywhere else. Sleep in you car. We were exhausted from a long day of driving and our clean private room was the saving grace because this hotel was otherwise disgusting and disheveled! I walked through weeds and a cloud of smoke to enter the building. Much to my surprise, the smoker was the 5/29 evening clerk who got in no hurry to come to the front desk to check me in and made it no secret that it was a complete inconvenience, as that was written all over her face. The lobby, halls and elevators were absolutely disgusting. Stained and sticky, shoes stuck to the floor with every step. I thought, "maybe they are short handed" but 14 hours later the conditions outside of our room were only worse! Surely if a clerk can walk outside to smoke, they could also step away from the front desk to attend to these floors. The pool and hot tub were closed (though we would have had major concerns about using those after seeing other common areas). Thank God, our room was clean. However it did not have a coffee maker in it, as was advertised. We'll call that insult to injury. I did visit the breakfast bar the next morning purely out of curiosity and was pleasantly surprised. Someone there actually took pride in their job! The dining area was pristine. The breakfast bar was organized and set up so beautifully and the young lady working it was incredibly friendly. What a bright spot in such a disappointing stop! She will lift the place up, or quickly outgrow it because her quality was already far beyond anything we witnessed there, including that of the morning male, who I can only assume was in a management role by the way he carried his clipboard around and wanted to be noticed-- he was the one that needed to take note of many things around that establishment. The location is nice, right off interstate- given that you don't fall into one of the giant pot holes in their driveway. Just beware before booking, this isn't your average Hilton. It's...
