I don't write reviews, but I had to write this. I got to the hotel 3 hours ahead of time about 12pm on 06/13/2024. As I walked in it was a lady and man standing outside the door at the Main Entrance. I walked to the counter no one was there, I said hello, no one answered. I tapped the bell, no one came. I walked outside to ask the 2 people in the front does anyone work here the lady said yes. She walked back inside with me. I asked her if I would be able to check in early, she stared for a minute and said no, check in time is 3pm. Then I asked her, how much would it be if I wanted to pay for yesterday check in date because I was really tired, I just drove 8.5 hours from New York. She said sorry I can't do that the computer won't allow me to. (I never knew that a business would turn away money). I left the hotel lobby went back to the parking lot and waited in my car. Sometime later I went back into the hotel lobby to ask could i use the bathroom. The same lady said the hotel is only for guests. I said I have 2 rooms reserved I'm waiting to check in. She then said the bathroom is around the corner, please don't leave a mess. I just walked away to use the bathroom. about 225pm I walked back in the hotel I see her checking in a man, who appeared to be a construction worker. I said to myself I thought I had to wait to 3pm. As soon as she finished with him, I walked over to her I said I thought I couldn't clock in until 3pm, she said I spoke to my manger and told him we have a few people outside waiting to check in. so he allowed me to start early. Also, the counter person didn't have a name tag on, so I don't know her name. I know she was a Caucasian woman with blonde hair wearing a blue shirt sleeve shirt. Furthermore, there wasn't ICE nowhere in hotel, the ice machine was down on the 1st floor and 3rd floor. it was bugs in the pool. The room smelled like mildew. I was looking for the sign that has independent owner of this establishment, it was behind another sign. I can't even remember the name; I do remember it was 3 initials. I will be emailing the owner of this hotel. Check the cameras.
Like I said I had 2 rooms reserved and I was in town for a funeral. I didn't even stay the full time I left the hotel about 210am. I asked the other lady at the front for a receipt she said it would be...
Read moreLet's start with the good, which is actually fantastic and great... The customer service: I interacted with or talked to 3 of the front desk staff during my stay. Just incredibly friendly and helpful. I don't know how you train them but it's clear these ladies care about what they do and the customers who come to this location! If it weren't for other issues this would be my "go to" hotel, although the location is inconvenient.
The breakfast is surprisingly tasty! My only issue is a personal one and does not reflect on the hotel itself. I prefer apple juice but the only options were peach (which was really good) and OJ, which was also good. This is a "me" not a hotel issue.
Now to the primary reasons it would be a challenge for me to stay: The hotel was clearly remodeled and they did a good job at it but, again it seems clear to me because I travel as lot, this was the most uncomfortable mattress I've slept on in as hotel. I could only sleep a few hours then had to walk around. It's a hard mattress. The pillows. These are some of the smallest, softest pillows I've ever seen at a hotel. They are half the size of a regular pillow (see picture with face mask on it for size comparison). I need several pillows to sleep so I'm glad I was staying my myself because all 5 equals my 3 pillows at home.
There were a couple of stink bugs in my room (see picture). I killed one left, came back 8 hours later and there was another bug in the room. I reported to front desk and showed picture. Staff said she would leave a note and said they had recently sprayed. Look... This kind of thing happens and I was not upset but just be...
Read moreThere really is not enough good I can say about my stay here. My house burnt down and we had no choice but to stay in hotels. We chose this hotel because we're looking for a home in asheboro. From check in to check out the staff were an absolute delight. Their kindness, compassion and professionalism are beyond words. Once my significant other shared our personal struggle they were all compassionate and asked daily if we were ok or needed anything. The entire staff treated my children like family, answering questions with patience and kindness. They even showed respect and understanding to our service animals and our grief. Words will never be enough to express how the staff at this hotel made a 2 star hotel feel like a 5 star safe haven for me and my family. Sure 5 star hotels may have more things but this hotel has an atmosphere and vibe money can't make. I hope the owners/ managers know that they have an amazing thing here. That being said the location was great. In-between a walgreens and a kick back Jack's your walking distance to items you may need and a great affordable meal. Close to the interstate and other shops and restaurant's. Nice size rooms and suites. Honestly I want to go back to just get some R&R once everything settles, or have some drinks at kick back Jack's and crash there for a good night's fun and rest. When you can make a place feel like home. Why wouldn't people want to come there...
