Waffle House — Restaurant in Archdale

If I could leave no stars-I absolutely would. I went to this location a few days ago with my family. We arrived at 9:30pm, we wanted breakfast food after a ball game. Was not acknowledged when walking in(which is fine) but also when we sat down at a table(not acknowledged for about 15 mins) while employees chatted with friends and themselves about going outside to smoke…still sitting at the table while employees were outside smoking:i contemplated leaving but didn’t bc my daughter was hungry so I waited another 5 mins before a server/cook walked in. I’m assuming it was his time to be in for shift. He walks up and ask if anyone had gotten our order, we stated no. He said well “I like making money I’ll get you!” So of course we were happy ! He took our order of two all star breakfast plates and a waffle-easy! He even cooks the food! We eat stay for about 20-40 mins and I decided to pay with my card -leave a REALLY great tip-he did all the work right!-hmmmm days later I decide to check on my credit card statement (which I never do) and all to my surprise was charged 146$!!! From no other than the Waffle House! I surely thought this was a mistake . I mean I left the guy a 20$ tip…anyway, I call their phone..No answer for about 30 mins-I go there to find a day manager (she thought it was all funny about the situation) smirked and was telling me that she couldn’t find my receipt that they are old school and keep all receipts in a bag.it would take hours and hours for them to find the evidence- Fine. I ask for the manager number at the location and she acted like it was a headache to get the number-got the number and left-she THEN calls and says that she found it (2mins after I left!)and sends me a picture of the 120$ that was written on the receipt!!! On Halloween, our fairly large group of people came to this Waffle House after taking all of our children trick or treating. We did see it was a busy night, therefore we sat the children and waited patiently for tables to be cleared. We were not addressed or spoken to when we entered the restaurant, which usually wouldn’t be an issue, as it is a Waffle House and is seat yourself, however tonight it turned out to be.

We waited until another group of people left, and the table was cleaned before the rest of our group took a seat. We were waiting for a while for service. One of our group sitting at another table decided to ask about service, she was told we would not be served until the other shift arrived, she promptly told everyone in the group what was said.

Yes we because upset, we decided to leave and find somewhere else to go. The kids asked why we were leaving since they wanted Waffle House, my husband did say, “we are leaving because the staff didn’t want to do their job and serve us.” As we were walking out of the restaurant, one of the staff then yelled at another one of our group about having an attitude, despite our group mate not saying anything. This prompted a response from our member stating she did have an attitude and we should’ve been told before we sat down after waiting so long. We all then left.

While we understand we should’ve handled the situation better, and our part in the confrontation, if we had been told either “I’m sorry your party is too large and we won’t be able to serve you” or “just letting you know, there won’t be anymore service until the next shift came on,” or anything remotely similar to these, we would’ve thanked them for letting us know and left...

Horrible Management, one that likes to leave a plate of bacon and sausage to the side to serve cold, because he doesn't feel like cooking fresh off the bat like we pay for.. has his salespeople cooking for him as well as doing their own jobs for only $3 an hour while cooks normally make between $14 and $18 depending on the shift!! Waters down the dish soap when its a health hazard. if the employees request a day off for IMPORTANT needs, low and behold that's the day you have to argue for, because even if you give plenty of notice and reminders they'll still schedule you for your important days. He will yank around the schedule and then lie to you about it.. She was going around telling everyone that Wednesday was her Friday, I got into a wreck and wanted her to take me to my Drs appointment on Thursday which she was scheduled off for but on weds. she checked her pay (because the week before they took $52.48 of her pay) then went to see what day she returns only to find out that they added a day and never told her... another would be my friend got up early, drove a half an hour there, LIKE SHE WAS SCHEDULED TOO, just to hear AUSTIN say your not on today but when she showed him that she was, it didn't matter, still made her waste an hour of gas and made her miss out on a days worth of money because he's a childish old man who doesn't care what you have going on, and will l toy with your time for amusement. ALL the workers talk junk about Austin, even people who DONT Work there. They could have WAY Better...
