Food Lion — Local services in Archdale

Food Lion is my go-to grocery store. But this one leaves much to be desired. The management isn’t very helpful nor friendly. The produce department lacks when it comes to stock. The meat department does a good job of keeping the shelf stock though. The cashiers are young which is a given but some are super friendly. However most spend most of their time talking instead of working or helping to keep lines down. One night they closed a whole 2 hours early for floor cleaning but had no notice on the door and then made a closing announcement with only one register that had money in the till to check out the whole store of customers while 2 members of management stood their just chatting with a line going down the aisle of merchandise. The Archdale Food Lion is a great place to shop whether you are picking up an order, getting a delivery, or shopping inside. They have courteous, friendly staff who are always around the store, willing to help you find what you need. The store is well-stocked and checkout is usually fast. Another thing I like about this particular store is that it is clean. That means a lot to me these days. Pickups are also very convenient and easy; I have had very few substitutions or out-of-stock items. Be prepared to pay extra for delivery service which is via Instacart. You will pay a delivery fee, a service fee, and you should also pay your delivery person a percentage for delivering your purchase--gas isn't cheap these days! Those extras can easily add $10 to $15 or more to your purchase. Happy...

Overall I like foodlion, the prices, selection, store cleanliness, etc... But when it comes time to check out, it is typically a disaster. There is great inconsistency in properly bagging items amd ofter the employees are engaged in conversations about the job, otjer employees, or some unrelated drama outside the work. No regard for the customer paying out a few dollars or couple hundred. I'm about over it and willing to shop Lowe's or Publix and pay a little more to get better service.
