Zero customer service. I made an online order for two chicken. Confirmed for pickup in twenty minutes. Twenty minutes later I am parked out front. I get a phone call saying they ran out of chicken. My food should have already been prepared, yet it took that long to even contact me. Then! The employee says I can order something else or get a refund. Had they an inkling of what customer service is and any idea of how badly they just failed to execute it, I would have been given a refund and offered a complimentary meal. But that idea was beyond their grasp or care even though I explained it to them in kind. I’ve been a frequent diner at this place for many years. No longer
UPDATE: I've continued getting food from this establishment, however, I never took the offer to receive a free meal from the terrible experience I had when I posted my original review. I've been back about seven times mostly ordering online carryout. White Labs has both a curbside parking space for pickup and an option when ordering online to have the food brought to your vehicle. For one, no one ever shows up when I park in the curbside spot. Then when calling the number listed on the curbside parking spot it goes to an automated message with no option to talk to an employee working inside so you have to walk in the restaurant to get the order. Why have two options for curbside pickup when neither are functional? Then every time I go inside to pickup I let them know that the system is not functioning, and they act surprised because they are absolutely unaware of the issue. Does no one check these things on a daily basis? The other day I order online, it says 50 minutes for pickup. I show up then and they never even receive my order. I speak to the manager and he says they were having issues so they shut down the online function. Really?!? Then he suggests I order at the counter. My card had already been charged. I'm not paying twice for one meal. Furthermore I explain to the manager that there is always and issue when I order online. His response was that there is never an issue. Again, Really?!? You're just going to discredit every experience I've had over the last few months here? I'm just making it up, right? The absolute disregard for customer service is mind blowing. A proper response would have been to refund my original charge and provide a complimentary meal for the hassle I've just gone through. They're food is damn good but it certainly isn't good enough to go through this...

We came in from Florida for our annual Asheville trip, looking forward to visiting White Labs once again. My wife, our 2 small pups and myself arrived at 3:20pm, 11/26 and was told they were closed until 4pm due to a power issue. Okay, no biggie. While my wife went to the restroom, I was told by every passing staff member that they were closed, I guess I should have seen this as a sign.
We left and came back at 4pm, we grabbed menus and a table and decided on what we were going to eat and drink. I got up and waited in line to order. As I was paying for my order (hot chicken sandwich, a pizza, and 2 flights of beer) my wife is told we cannot have the dogs indoors, which was odd since we had already been there twice now and have been indoors for over 20 minutes, but they waited until after we order and pay to tell us we need to sit outside... It is 37° out with wind gust of 30mph, but we go outside to sit and wait.
Shortly after our beers are dumped off, no explanation on how the flight is set up, just a drop and go... Okay...
Not long after that, food arrives, but just one of the orders of food. No mention of when the other order will be out, they didn't ask how everything was, just another unfriendly drop and go. I had to eat my sandwich before it went cold infront of my hungry wife while she waited for her food, fortunately I had fries I could share with her.
Not long after that, her pizza arrives .. Guess what??? Another drop and go with out a single word spoken by our server. At this point we are very frustrated and upset with the terrible service. She finished eating her pizza and we were freezing, so we left immediately, leaving our 2 full beer flights to waste.
What a terrible experience, we travel often and to Asheville annually and we have never received service at any place ever as bad as we received here.
I do not think it is possible that we will ever return to White Labs Brewing Co as this experience nearly ruined our day. I will not be recommending visiting this place to family and friends either, I would not wish this experience on anyone.
I highly recommend that the staff working on 11/26/21 to receive some training in hospitality so that maybe White Labs Brewing Co. can become an enjoyable place to visit...
Read moreBased on the recommendation from a couple friends and family members, we made this location our first stop for lunch (and my first brewery stop) in Ashville. The first thing I noticed was it wasn't far from downtown, but actually had its own parking, so you don't have to wonder where to park if you're just going here. Although, those with disabilities be aware, there are two parking areas, one that leads into the upper area and one next to the main lower restaurant/bar area. If you're going for food, I'd recommend parking in the lower area, otherwise you will need to descend a flight of stairs.
Onto the food and beer! We ordered a pepperoni pizza and the mushroom arancini. They were both tasty, but my hat's off to the pizza. While it was a little greasy (that was probably my fault for ordering a plain pepperoni pizza), it was well cooked and the dough was tasty. I love the wood-fired touch to any sort of pizza, that char adds something that can't be explained.
In case anyone is wondering, they use their house-yeasts to ferment the dough for their pizza, as well, so having a beer and pizza both using their own yeast was a fun experience.
Also, on their beer menu they have many selections that start with the same base beer but use different yeast strains, and you can try them side by side and pick out the differences.
The bartender there was knowledgeable in explaining some things about the beer and some of the flavor profiles of certain brews, beyond what is printed on the menu.
They have both outdoor (weather permitting, I assume) and indoor seating, and a rather large bar that seemed open and tables that weren't super close together, which is a plus, as well.
Definitely a great stop in Ashville for lunch or to...
