We stayed at the hotel years ago, and it was ok then, but 9 years ago was purchased by a family who has made this place really nice! I know there are lots of really nice hotels in Ashland, but when you are driving through, and are not a tourist you don't care about all the fancy stuff. What I do care about is Clean, Comfortable and well situated. We stayed in room #108, which did not have any noise from the road, had two nice tables and 4 chairs, 2 at each table. Also, there are Two bedside tables with nice lamps with extra plug ins for your devices on the lamps. Very easy to charge up! Usually you would not get a good Kingsize bed in a room for this price, only a queen. The furniture is not new, but is newly reupholstered, and comfortable. Also, there was a nice wood bench under the hanging clothes area, so we had plenty of room for suitcases to be open and accessible. || We stayed at a much more expensive hotel the night before, in Santa Clarita, and for twice the price it was not really any better for our purposes. Specifically the bed was great! Slept like a log. Bathroom clean, and with nice tile and granite countertop. So nice to have a fridge, microwave, and if the weather was nice, the pool looks very clean and updated. I like to park right by my car too, for the sake of security, so we could park right outside our door. The helpful receptionist ( Mukti) told us about the Wild Goose next door, where we had a sandwich and drinks and also had great service. Gas station right next to the restaurant, so super easy access from the freeway, only a couple of minutes off the highway, with food, gas and great bed and nice pillows too! We had instant oatmeal, yoghurt, coffee for breakfast, and there was fresh fruit, and hard boiled eggs as well. If you want eggs, you just go right next door to the Goose! I was so happy not to spend another $140.00...
Read moreFor starters, the owner is incredibly sexist. We walked in and I said hello, he immediately turned to my partner and said "Hello sir, how are you?". Did not look at me once during the entire interaction. I made the booking, I was paying for it, and yet he continued to only speak and look in my partner's direction. Our friends who came in right after us had the same experience. We all thought it was insanely weird. The rooms are basic rooms, nothing fancy but what do you expect for $100 a night? Well, we expect the lamps to work. Both lamps did not work. We thought maybe they were unplugged or the bulbs weren't tight. Nope, just didn't work. We told the owner on our way out and he just dismissed us as he loaded up the back of his Tesla. Ladies, if you are going to attempt to do your makeup here, maybe do it in the car. The lighting in the bathroom and the light above the mirror will do you dirty. The light above the mirror isn't centered so only half of your face will be lit up. My friend and I both gave up and went with a simple eye look. The bed was also the hardest bed I've ever slept on. It was not comfortable at all. There are other low-priced hotels on the same street. I do not recommend this one. Especially if you are a female...
Read moreWe live in Ashland and do a lot of volunteer work with our unhoused community. Over the years, we have rented numerous short term stays for people in this hotel. The previous owners were accommodating and kind. Since the hotel changed hands, it's a terrible place and I would not recommend it to anyone. Rampant discrimination, even after the state of Oregon is issuing fines to hotels for such acts. The owner referred to his guest as a "dirty, filthy, homeless woman". He says they don't rent to locals and I could find that info on their website (again, not legal and guess what? He lied.) He was extremely rude and disrespectful to us. He did, gladly keep the $400+ we spent for 3 nights when she only stayed for two!
They charged a higher rate than what they advertised online, after looking their guest up and down and deciding she was unworthy of fair and just treatment. $120 a night was a complete rip off for this dumpy, outdated hotel. The nicest thing about this hotel is the new sign they put out front. Don't let that fool you. There are dozens of nicer hotels in Ashland, some at at a lower...
