I eat here at least once per week when I'm in Ashland (and I actually live in Ashland). All things considered, it is my favorite place in town (granted, I hate most Ashland restaurants). But really, this is great and it is among the extremely short list of go-to places for vegetarians/vegans. Bonus: Their fries are to die for. Note: Get the fries! And if you don't like fries, then still get the fries. One can definitely find better falafels in the Middle East, New York or London, but I'm pretty sure not in Ashland; possibly not in Oregon. Their in-store-baked pitas are great. And the owner and workers are very nice--which definitely makes it stand out from other Ashland eateries, IMO. Anyway, I love the place! (Could even love them a tad more if they would turn the damned music and air conditioning...
Read moreIt took me a few minutes to figure out the whole operation. Bowl, pita or...? And after I thought I had it I still got it wrong but it mattered not a bit because the falafel bowl with 3 sides I wound up with was delectable. Spicy and super tasty. Probably the best falafel I've had in a long while. The only reason it doesn't get all the stars is because my partner in eating crimes got sick after eating here. I'm gonna say it's because he has a sensitive tummy and leave it at that. Also the ordering process felt a bit rushed. I know those guys are doing it all day and must get sick to death of it but the whole assembly line let's move this show along quickly vibe leaves one feeling like you were herded along. Because you were. Nonetheless, I really...
Read moreI enjoyed the falafel sandwich here HOWEVER I do want to note that it would be nice to give credit that falafel and hummus is Arab food. The salad was given credit that it is Israeli but not everything else on the menu. The whole restaurant represents Israel while the main thing it serves is ARAB, serving the food that is a result of hundreds of years of arabs cooking these recipes. It is nice to see people cook these recipes from different nationalities, but claiming it as yours and not giving credit is not okay. As someone who is not familiar with all this information, they would simply think the food they ate is Israeli. This is culture appropriation. Side note: Hummus is literally the Arabic word for chickpeas. Wishing you the best and proper...
