I really wanted to like this place. I have read glowing reviews which I know are subjective to one’s tastes, etc. That being said, I am a southern bbq snob. Without knowing who was in the kitchen of this establishment, I can only guess. It definitely was not someone that is familiar with southern and or Texas cuisine.
There were 3 of us for dinner. My husband and I ordered a combo appetizer of rattlesnake bites, fried pickles and some kind of chicken. The fried pickles had very little flavor other than salt. The rattlesnake bites were of a jalapeño popper likeness. We didn’t finish the appetizers.
Our friend ordered a grilled chicken dinner with a side of veggies. The order was delivered hot and the portions were average but a good size. My husband and I shared a 12oz ribeye and ribs with a side of mashed potatoes and veggies. We also shared a house salad. A basket of rolls and some kind of butter with cinnamon or something was brought to the table.
My husband and I didn’t care for anything but the rolls and the butter. The steak was cooked perfectly and was juicy but was missing the ribeye flavor. The ribs… The only thing I can say is that they were tender. My husband didn’t like them either and that’s saying a lot for a man that will eat Vienna sausages and say, “Mm, mmm.” The veggies were like Costco vegetable Normandy but were watery. The mashed potatoes tasted like real potatoes but could have used some flavor.
Our server was friendly and attentive but was unable to tell us about a number of dishes. I think this is a place that is popular for people celebrating a birthday. There were 5 birthday cowboys and cowgirls that evening. I did not enjoy the atmosphere or the noise volume and commotion that took place whenever a birthday was announced.
Again I forgot to take pictures of the food, but once we got back to the hotel I took a picture of the box that held the rolls, yum. We did not order dessert as it was very loud so we left. There were no peanuts, I asked as there was a bucket on the table labeled PEANUTS. The server said he didn’t know why it was on the table.
Not a place to recommend for food, service or atmosphere. I liked the saddle that the birthday folks sat on and the rolls. We will not be returning. Dinner for three with a shared meal and...
Read moreWhat a disappointment! We didn’t have to wait long to be seated -as we utilized the “check-in before arriving”, but we did end up waiting over 20 mins for someone to come around for our drink order. Our starter was brought out w the meal when we requested it to be brought ahead of it. The NY strip steak I ordered was over 50% fat. It was absolutely gross & should never have been served. It was obvious and should have never left the kitchen looking like that. It took me 10 min to hunt someone down ( I finally went to the hostess stand) & explained the issue & asked for our server to come to the table. When she finally came over, she grabbed my sons ribs & and said “I’m sorry, I’ll get some new ones” and I had to grab it back & say “ wrong one , his is fine, this is the disgusting steak-“ pointing to mine- & she said “ oh yeah yuk”. . She grabbed mine & took off speed running before I could even ask her to grab a small plate so she could leave the sweet potato for me to eat while i waited, or to just take the steak off the bill as everyone else was almost done eating.. After 15 more min of waiting, she returned w it & noticed that we had our plates stacked -looked at my son & said in a very snotty way -“ she didn’t tell me she wanted it to go” then took it back. Finally after another 10 min. a man brought it out to us in a to go container. They only had the steak in the container , not the mushrooms & onions that should have been on top & not the sweet potato that was also on the plate when she took it back the 1st time.! This used to be a place to go for a celebration or for a special occasion- the service & food has gone way downhill. I asked to speak to a manager and after waiting 15 min we left. we spent $124 for 4 ppl to eat- (well 3 bc I didn’t eat mine at all) & couldn’t have been more disappointed in the food quality & service. But in all fairness- my son liked his...
Read moreIt wasn't great. We got carry out. First, we got a message that our order was ready to pick up right as we pulled into their parking lot. So my boyfriend went to the pick-up window to get our order. It was already paid for, so it should have been a very quick pick-up. However, he was at the window talking with the employee for a couple minutes and then came back to the car empty handed. Come to find out, our food was ready except for one item they were still waiting on, so the gal asked my boyfriend to step away from the window and wait for a couple of minutes as there was another person coming to the window to get their stuff. So he waited and waited and waited and this other person was at the window for a long, long time. As it was quite cold out, my boyfriend came back to the car and sat, waiting for the other person to finish. It was 12 minutes later before the other person left. So my boyfriend went up and grabbed our food and we left.
Our steaks were VERY dry and tough even though the insides were still quite pink. I've never had a dry, tough steak that wasn't completely overdone, so not sure how they managed to get a very pink center and extremely dry, tough exterior. I got a caesar salad. It was missing the croutons and they didn't provide the second container of salad dressing that we ordered. The potatoes were cold and we had heat them up in the microwave. We were only provided three rolls and half a container of cinnamon butter. The last time we ordered we got six rolls and two full containers of cinnamon butter.
It just wasn't a very good meal especially for the price and the whole pickup window deal was all screwed up. I just don't think we're going to be going back there for quite some time, if at all. We were extremely...
