We went to the beach for the day (had a blast!) left at sun down. We decided we wanted Mexican food. It was 15 minutes until 9 pm. I called all the restaurants open until 9. They all said sorry we are closed when I asked if we could order food to go. I was losing hope and we were all hangry. We had one option left. So I called El Tapatio in Astoria OR. I asked if we could still go in to order (this time I forgot to say to go...🤷🏻♀️) and the gentleman was so nice! He said of course you can but it has to be to go. With all these rules we HAVE to be out by 10 Mija. That man had no idea what he had just done to me. I am originally from New Mexico and it has been a long time since someone has called me Mija. My heart melted right there. We get there and tell the waitress we were told we could order. I’m not sure of her name but she was not too nice. I kept apologizing because I felt like an inconvenience to her. Then I heard that voice, I turned to him and he was apologizing to us because we couldn’t sit down. He made the whole experience amazing! He kept calling me Mija and it took everything I had not to run up to him and hug him. He made sure we were taken care of like royalty even though we showed up when they were wanting to go home. And the food? EXCELLENT!!! Best Mexican food I’ve had in a long time. If you like iced tea, they have THE BEST I’ve ever had! I ordered one, my best friend just wanted water, but he made sure we both got an iced tea. Sweetest guy ever. When we were leaving I asked him his name, and he told me then asked if everything was ok? I told him you didn’t have to allow us to come and get food and treat us so amazingly, yet you did...so I want to make sure I write a good review for you because I don’t know how else to repay you. His final words to me were “thank you Mija.” No Juan thank you for everything!!! We...
Read moreDecided to visit this restaurant because of its proximity to the port marina. Colorful interior. It took a bit to get recognized and get seated. Rear parking was unexpected and appreciated. We were told to find a booth of our choosing and noticed most booths were ripped on the benches and some tables not bussed. After seated, we were waited on quickly with friendly staff and drinks were ordered. Drinks arrived quickly along with chips and salsa. The salsa was very good. We ordered meals shortly thereafter. Food arrived in 5 minutes in an almost full restaurant. I had fish tacos with rice and beans. The fish was crispy and tasty. It was nestled in a lettuce bed with mayonnaise on the corn tortilla. This was food with pico de gallo and cohita cheese. These ingredients seemed to work. The rice and beans were plain and blah. My brother really liked his carne asada. My wife had pork enchilada suizas and noted that the pork was too dry. Pricing for food was less than market. The floor was clean even though worn. Staff was friendly and quick after we were seated. There are TV's around which give a...
