We can call this "Duane With A CAPITOL "D""
Although I can think of another word by his actions that night. I was waiting at 10:30pm for my Tuesday night bank deposit to hit when my phone dies and I fell asleep. Around 3:30AM i wake up cold and hungry and walk to my favorite place Waffle House, well until that night that is. So I arrive and there are a couple groups at table a 3 top and a 4 top when the employees ask if I need an order. I let them know I needed to verify my deposit went through and needed to charge my phone a minute and check. I could see the cook Duane getting impatient with me and I could tell he assumed I was homeless and there to beg. Well Mr. D you should not judge a book by its cover. So my deposit had not hit and a very lovely young lady offered to get me something to eat. Well it was very cold outside and I was hungry so I agreed to a little something to eat. Marta was not open yet so I had a little time. After my food was done I asked to sit on one side but the server told me that side was closed but there was a booth by the others open. Remember that. So I go over to sit and eat my food and the other 2 tables were still there and Duane had said nothing to them about leaving. I start to eat and one group leaves. Then the other group and it's just me in the store and Mr. D SAYS..."YOU NEED TO PACK YOUR STUFF AND GO. THIS IS TOGO ONLY AND WE ARE NOT RUNNING A SHELTER HERE". Really? I told him my food was paid for and I should be allowed to stay and eat like the others which he said nothing to! His reply was "Not by you!" Meaning since I didnt pay for it I needed to go. Well I was embarrassed and humiliated and felt singled out and bullied. He said "YOU COME IN HERE LYING ABOUT GETTING SOME MONEY THEN YOU GET FOOD FROM PEOPLE" I told him KARMA would come back around for comments like that and that I would write a nice review to let people know what they get here. I asked his name and he says " DIANE WITH A CAPITOL D" assuming I am illiterate I presume. Well Mr. Duane since you didnt want to know the truth let me tell you. I didn't lie about the money and my deposit went through at 8am this time. So the lady who bought me food if you want I will by you dinner just reply and thank you again. I was stuck on that side of town waiting on Marta to open at 5am. I was not there to beg and I am not homeless. I was the GM for J. Christopher's on West peachtree for some time and I would never speak to people the way that Mr Duane did. And by the way wear the mask over your nose it isn't a chin strap. Also now I have a great job as a project manager for a Construction company in Atlanta. I live in Doraville and I want you to know I dont appreciate the way I was treated. I feel sorry for you to carry that kind of hate for people with you. I hope the Management reminds the tape to see it themselves. I hope you are not a Manager for them because if so they were fooled and lowered their standards quite a bit. Well I dont know if I will ever return to a waffle house after that experience and I wrote this so that you will know what you are about to experience when you visit the store at sydney Marcus and Piedmont...
Read moreIt’s 3:00 am and I pop into Waffle House for my favorite Waffle House Meal - cheesesteak! The only person inside the restaurant is the chef who is sitting down at a table.
I walk inside and wait for 3 minutes before the young lady I passed outside comes inside. She’s a Waffle House employee who was outside talking on her phone and let me wait a few minutes until she came in. I am 43 years old and I don’t think I have ever been treated so dismissively and outright disrespectfully before this. She walked back and forth behind the counter and walked over to me to take my order.
I’m still the only customer in the restaurant at this time. 2 other customers walked in and she walks over to them and takes their order. I told her I was here and I order a cheesesteak. My 2 brothers walked in and I added further to my order. 6 customers came into the restaurant and ordered food AFTER me. My cheesesteak is still not on the grill. I politely ask the male chef if he remembered my order. The female employee with the red hair dye and the artificial baby hair told me I had to wait because the customer’s who ordered AFTER me “had a big order “ so I have to wait. I told her that didn’t make sense. I was hear first and my order is smaller. Instead of just saying sorry we forgot your order, she says “this is Waffle House. I don’t know how they do it where you’re from but this is how we do it” she then tells the chef to cancel my order and he promptly throws what’s been started in the trash. She told me to leave the restaurant so I leave the restaurant. My brothers told me after I left, she threw their food in the trash as well. She told me to go to the Waffle House up the street. I told her I’m going to talk to her manager and corporate if I need to. If the manager of this restaurant doesn’t acknowledge how that behavior is NOT encouraged by WH, then I will go to corporate. I’m sure Waffle House the company would not agree with her behavior. I don’t know her name but you can’t miss her. Half a head dyed red and some fake baby hair on...
Read more40 years eating at Waffle Houses around the South, you learn "don't disrespect the WF employees". Do not expect to get your food immediately during a rush. And do not walk up in there like you own the place. It may say House on the sign but it's not your house, it's the WF employees house. Be respectful and your experience will be amazing. Expect VIP treatment and you'll have a frustrating and possibly no food experience. Now this location was clean in a lunch rush. That weekday lunch crew worked together, got the food out amazingly fast and took time to destress through laughter. My eggs were cooked perfectly and that waffle was crispy on the outside and so soft on the inside. The food never sat waiting for any order. My waitress was so sweet even with 2 tables of disrespectful customers complaining and yelling behind me (I sat at the counter). My food was brought separately as it was ready instead of sitting and waiting until the whole order was complete. And as always the sweet tea is the best in the South. The building is tucked away in a corner of the Lindbergh Home Depot parking lot. Only a couple of handicapable parking spaces, and the ramp is a little steep. Shares spaces with a personal building and apt complex, so only 1 hr parking in that small lot. You can park in the Home Depot lot and walk across. This location is slightly smaller inside, so although a wheelchair will still fit at the end of any table it'll be a tight squeeze behind. No low counters here. The counter is slightly higher than the average WF and the chairs love to move whether or not your butt made contact with the seat. Be careful or you'll end up on the ground. No bag hook under the counter, no coat rack up front (probably due to pandemic). All employees were following COVID mask guidelines. Be respectful and wear a mask inside until your food shows up....
