Honestly the hotel itself was outdated but the stay was fine. The beds were comfortable, the breakfast wasn’t great but was eatable. The lady at check out was amazing, the rest of the staff not so much. When I booked my room I called and asked about a late check out which they told me they could accommodate 1 hour late meaning check out at 1 instead of 12 which was still a little early than I needed but I could make work. He told me to remind them at check in. I go to check in Friday, they tell me my card was declined although it had went through on my end. I ended up paying with a different card and they told me the other card will be refunded. Fine! I forgot to mention the late check out for Sunday, so once we got settled in I went down to the desk to find shift change had happened and it was another lady working. I explained to her and she said there’s a note on the desk stating they were to tell me they could no longer accommodate the late check out because they’re short staffed .. fine! Then she tells me I was never checked in and she needs a card from me. I explained what happen earlier and showed her I had already been charged on two cards already and she assured me she wouldn’t charge me again she just needed on for the file. I give it to her and I walk away as another guest came up. I get to my room and noticed I was charged again, I walked back down and she called her manager who said that she would take care of it in the morning. At this point I was annoyed as they had all my cards flagged for fraud due to all the multiple charges AND I had now been charge 3 times for this weekend stay. I wake up Saturday morning to yet again ANOTHER CHARGE. The manager wasn’t in by the time I needed to leave and I was told she’d be in from 9-5ish . I go to where I needed to be for the day and ANOTHER CHARGE! I then got a call from someone at the hotel telling me all charges had been returned but it can take 5-7 days from my bank however they also returned Saturday nights payment as well so I would have to pay again for Saturday when I got back. They tried to say I had to pay the going rate for that night which was 45$ more than it was when I booked it. She then told me she would price match it to what it was when I booked. I got back to the hotel and they told me they weren’t going to charge me for Saturday until I checked out sunday. Sunday I woke up to something that was slid under the door showing the had charged me for Saturday and my balance was paid. Thankfully I got ahold of the bank on Monday and they released all my refunds but unless you have enough money to be charged repeatedly and still do what you had planned, I wouldn’t go. Thankfully I was with family so they covered my expenses while we waited for the refund to hit but it was not a great experience!
If you choose to stay, try the Chinese buffet around the corner, that was the best part...
Read moreWe usually LOVE staying at this hotel-so much so, that we booked a room here, then drove two hours down to Indianapolis for the Lego Convention at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. We had to drive an hour and a half from our home to the hotel.....THAT is how much we like this hotel...usually.
Upon arrival, the clerk ran our debit card-swiped it wrong the first time, ran it again, and it came up denied. We asked her to run it again, again it was denied. I noticed she didn't punch any additional numbers in, as usually requested when running a card. We were not sure what to do, and was offered NO suggestions or help from the clerk. So I called our bank. There were no issues on our account. On a hunch, I asked the clerk to run it again. She swiped it properly, typed in the expiration date and some other numbers. It was accepted......
We then check into our very clean as usual, hotel room, pleased we were on the third floor. Went out to get some late supper and returned with the intent of swimming. We went swimming and there were a lot of people in the pool area. Someone had put one of the pool area tables into the hot tub. The noise level was very high and there was much horseplay going on. Also, there were children with plastic cups emptying the water out of the hot tub, to the point the water level dropped below the skimmer. Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, the pool was "closed for maintnence" on Sunady.
We had booked two nights, a Friday and Saturday, and both nights were rudely interrupted after ten o'clock pm with children running up and down the hall and making a lot of noise.
Another issue we have, that might just be hotel policy, every time we try and use our room card on the second day, it wont work and we are forced to go down to the front desk and have it remedied.. NOT very convenient when carrying a lot of packages.
Also, there are discrepancies with what is stated in the room manual and what is posted elsewhere- such as the pool closure time is stated a midnight in the handbook, but states 10 o'clock on the wall in the pool room. There are also differences in check out times and breakfast times.
When we went to check out, it was pouring rain and although the front entry has an ample overhang, we had to get into and out of our vehicle in two inch deep puddles and load our vehicle in the same...
Read moreThe room smelled like wet dogs, the tables, microwave, fridge, and wash cloths were dirty. There was no water pressure, and the shower head was too high to try to adjust. He had a hard time rinsing off soap. Went to the pool, and it was freezing! Called the front desk, and he said he would send the maintenance man down to check the supposedly heated indoor pool. He called the room back and told my husband that the temp was 68, and they heat it to 68-70. My husband said that is way too cold, and him being a scuba instructor would never put a student in pool water that cold. He said let me call you back, he called back and said the temp was actually 84, and invited my husband to come back to pool to check, mind you it had only been 15 minutes since we were down there, anyway hubby went down and the maintenance guy had turned in the boiler in the room, water was still freezing but I guess they didn't think hubby would check water. He let the front desk guy know that we had guns through a bottle of Febreeze trying to get the wet dog smell to go away, he said he would have the Manager call us the following day, we never received a call, we were out of the room most day and night because it was our anniversary. The hotel was our mini vacation away. When we checked out the manager was at the desk, she asked how our stay was and I replied that the manager never called us back or returned our calls, she looked at me and said "hmmm, really"? I guess she didn't realize her name tag said manager on it. I will never go back there, and I would not recommend anyone else go there. Or at least stay far away from room 217!! Or luggage and our clothes that weren't even worn. All have to be cleaned, everything smells like wet dog, and now my car also smells since we live almost 3 hours away. Never had an experience like this, except for a choice hotel...
