Where do I start? Positive aspect: interior is beautiful, love the woodwork, beautiful portraits of antique cars locally made in the area, quiet setting, rate was reasonable, room was clean and spacious.
Negative aspect: upon arrival we tried to switch rooms and use our AAA discount. Which wasn,t working out so well we get charged for two rooms and still no discount. And when I asked the girl who was working there for Linens for the pull-out couch bed she was able to provide those but not the pillows that she didn't know where they were. When I asked her how we could get inside the pool area as it was locked she didn't know where the key was and then later on the next day we found out that the pool I just had chemicals put into it and we weren't able to go swimming in it anyway which we were looking forward to the night before but it never happened. And there was no note on the pool gates notifying us of that. There was also debris all over the outside of the Inn, as well as screens from the windows that had been taken out and just dropped on the ground around the building. The carpeting throughout the place was old and worn and stained there were holes in it in some places. The bathroom that was in our room had a broken toilet paper dispenser and missing the second set of sheer curtains over the windows. The staff in the morning was very unfriendly and snappy with us when we were asking about our charges to our credit card and not being able to receive our AAA discount she made us quite aware that she wasn't the one responsible for any of that. Today is June 4th I decided to give the Inn a call and speak to the manager in hopes to resolve some of the issues that we had she was completely rude and on the defensive with me also very argumentative which is completely poor customer service ethics I would recommend to anyone reading this review that you would find a different Hotel or in for the night the staff there and the run-down atmosphere is not worth spending...
Read moreI stayed here the Saturday after Thanksgiving and was incredibly impressed. From the moment I arrived until the moment I left, no detail was ignored.
The first thing I appreciated was that the hotel has two screened in patios, one for smoking and one non smoking, separated by about fifteen feet. While I didn't use the patio this trip (it was pretty cold, and kind of windy/rainy), I really liked this detail.
The lobby is gorgeous, full of warm colors and wood. It feels very classic and homey, more like an inn than a chain hotel. I checked in at almost midnight and was immediately greeted by a cheerful staff member whose name I can't remember, but she was great. The room was spacious and quiet, with a very responsive heater (thank goodness). The water pressure in the sink and shower were great.
The breakfast was delicious and fairly comprehensive. There was fresh fruit, bagels, danish, eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, and a waffle iron. I was most impressed by the biscuits and gravy, because it was perfect. It's very easy to have bad biscuits and gravy, and the easiest way is to let them get lukewarm. I don't know if these were super fresh or just kept at a good temperature and stirred regularly, but they nailed it.
Check out was just as quick as check in, and I was on the road three minutes after I left my room. I had a great stay here, and will...
Read moreI was stunned when I walked into this hotel because it was so charming! It has what seems to be original elements from long ago and the current owners have beautifully retained and restored this elegant look that is so welcoming and homey (especially compared to most hotels today). I wish I would have taken pictures but our stay here was so short and we got in pretty late. Our room was more standard of what you would expect of an affordably priced hotel, but that being said it was still nice and clean and had comfortable beds. Breakfast was also a step up from what most hotels offer, and everything was good. Sausage, biscuits and gravy, eggs, and the classic Belgian waffles, as well as all the cold fare you would expect. Several juice/drink options as well, which was nice. The staff were also friendly and kind and quick to help with anything we needed. I don't know when we will be back through Auburn again but if we do, we would love to stay at this...
