On December 10, 2017, my mother and I went to Mattress Firm because I had been approved for $500 with progressive lease and they had a sale going on where you would get a free box spring, free pillow and Mattress protector and free delivery with any Mattress purchase. When we got there I had to run my credit again because my credit application had expired. I was approved for $1000 this time. We ended up buying 2 queen mattresses from Fabio Mendonca at the South Park Meadows location (next to Walmart). He didn't honored their sale, he said that it was either the pillow and mattress protector or box spring for free. We chose the box springs for free instead. He charged us $50 for each box spring anyway. We told him that we were going to need Mattress frames and he threw them in for free.
He charged us $409.99 for each Mattress, $50 for each box spring, $0 for each bed frame and $79.99 for delivery. The subtotal was $999.97.
We went back the next day because we noticed that on our receipt it said: "PURCHASE INCLUDES PREOWNED CLEARANCE MERCHANDISE." He sold us used mattresses without our knowledge. He insisted we still get the preowned merchandise. Now, at a lower price of $739.98. He was selling us the same used merchandise he sold us for $259.99 cheaper. We told him we wanted everything in our order to be new. We didn’t care if we had to pay the difference. I also showed him screenshots where I had added the same items to my cart online and I was getting 2 free mattresses springs, 2 free pillows and 2 mattresses protectors and free delivery. Until then he agreed to honor that sale. Our new subtotal was $1036. A difference of only $36.03.
The delivery was already in the truck when we cancelled the order and reordered it. They delivered the used merchandise even though we paid for the difference. I called and asked to speak to the manager and I explained to her that they delivered the used merchandise instead of the new merchandise. Also, that my mother suffers from dermatitis, lupus of the skin and hives and that I didn’t know whether or not she could suffer from an allergic reaction from the chemicals that they use to thoroughly disinfect the mattresses. She chuckled. They finally delivered the new merchandise a day after I needed it by. I had guests coming over for my Brother’s graduation. I DO NOT RECOMMEND BUYING FROM THIS MATTRESS...
Read moreMe and the Bf decided to use our uncle stimulus checks to get a new mattress. I decided to check out the mattress firm at southpark Meadows right by Walmart. The storefront is very clean. Even the waving windsock man has a mask on. Upon entering we are greeted bye a masked employee who introduces himself as Will. I asked him if I can take my mask off and he says yes there mandatory for employees but they're optional for customers. Now this is really my first experience adulting at this level and making a big purchase. Will started by telling us that some of the memorial day sales are still in effect because there was so much rain which left an excess of inventory. Next, Will asks us if we had a budget in mind, if we want plush vs firm, traditional innerspring or memory foam or hybrid; and size. Will showed us the budget mattresses in the corner but we decided that we could go a little bit higher with our budget. Will was very professional and knowledgeable as he explained all if the aspects available in mattresses, patiently answering my questions once I realized there were many things to factor I hadn't even considered. He did not try to upsell us and he was not pushy at all. Overall, Will provided us with level of excellent customer service that is a new benchmark standard against which I will measure all future encounters with salespeople...
Read moreStaff was awesome, very friendly! The mattress on the other hand... They had it packaged in some ghetto plastic wrapping that was torn in many places with even a whole corner exposed.
This was a red flag, but what sucked is I had no choice but to take it because I had to pay up front for it at a different location where I took the rep's word that it would be in fine condition.
The plastic was wrapped on that mattress for so long that the adhesive was degrading and turning into black gunk. I noticed several black stains on the wrapping and I couldn't tell what was a wrapping stain and which was a mattress stain.
I saw the worst one, a whole foot across in the middle. The rep at this location assured me it was a wrapping stain, but when I got home and took this ghetto wrap off, I saw that this, the worst stain of all, was in fact ALSO on the mattress! Not good Mattress Firm, not good!
If that wasn't bad enough, I saw some loose threads I didn't know we're still attached, so I pulled them up, to discover that they were coming from a HOLE IN THE MATRESS! I was told, not by one, but TWO reps that this mattress would have no stains or damage.
I won't be doing business with these smooth talkers anymore. They of course won't take the mattress back or help me out at all since I bought it...
