I’ve been to this location to dine in and ordered out , I’ve never had issues, I’ve had to wait for pickup orders a couple of time but that’s never been a problem, I like their food . I eat their food about 3-4 times a month. The food is great, but the service is poor. My experience today was poor. Idk if they are short staffed but I had a pickup order and needless to say that my order was incorrect. I was given a paper bag and half my order was missing, unfortunately I didn’t realize this until I got home. So I had to call the location. One of the workers answered, she was polite , she stated that I’d be transferred my call to the person that took my order, so I was placed on hold. After a couple of minutes a gentleman came on the line and I told him my issue and he was very polite and apologized for his mistake and I politely told him that it was ok, because I knew the place was swamped because I noticed when I originally went to pick up my order the first time around. The gentleman on the call offered to make the missing order, he offered to deliver it to my home but he stated that it would take I’m about an hour tho because they were super busy, I told him that it wouldn’t be necessary to deliver and I would be there to pick it up. He was very polite and thanked me for my patience and said he’d give me a complimentary token for the inconvenience. He stated that my order would be ready in 20-25 minutes. After waiting about 30 minutes at home, I went to pick up my order for the second time. My order was ready when I arrived , unfortunately idk if again there was another communication issue but the gentleman at the counter was trying to charge me$$ for the chips that were placed with my order which I’m guessing were the offered as a complimentary token for my time and patience according the gentleman whom I spoke to on the phone , because of the mistake that was made to my original order. I explained that the chips were not part of my original order and explained the whole conversation I had on the phone with the gentleman I spoke with to the gentleman behind the counter, the gentleman behind just looked at me in awkward silence and what felt like a long awkward pause, clearly he didn’t know if to continue to charge me for the token or not. I nicely asked him to remove it because I honestly just wanted the order I paid for, I didn’t need the complimentary token that was offered and now clearly I’m being charged for. Not very complimentary in my agenda but I didn’t ask nor expected free food. The whole reason that I’m actually writing this experiment on here is because, my experience was a little embarrassing and awkward. I walked out of the location feeling like I was the one that made the mistake. I will definitely not be ordering online for a while. Bad experience teach us good lessons. For the readers, I recommend...
Read moreI don’t write reviews often. This one is in hopes the owner/manager sees it and makes adjustments.
We are new to Bakersfield and we’re recommended to this Bakersfield icon restaurant— we were really excited to try it—
The good: food was good+, not amazing, but good+ — even tho I didn’t see “chipotle mayo” on the turkey sandwich, that was my fault and taking off the top bread solved the issue— the fries are YUM if you like seasoned fries! The strawberry ice cream tastes like fresh strawberries— delish— and the waitress did make sure I knew there was a 2$ up charge for the waffle cone.
The bad : yikes! It was $100+ for a family of 4– no drinks, entrees and small desserts. I guess I just didn’t expect that from a creamery. The fries do not come with your dinner, they are an extra charge, which was not stated when placing our order, but menu states everything is alacart, so it’s knowable. However that makes the most basic meals $15/$16 each. The ($2) house made waffle cone was really not great 😕 disappointing because it sounded great but had no flavor (undercooked??) our server, Angelica, appeared to be less than happy to be working there, as did most other employees save the two male presenting employees. And Angelica seemed even less excited to be taking our order or answering questions.
The ugly: they were full-house and offered us to sit on the patio or wait. We did choose the patio, but PHEW!! It is directly in the setting sun. They have sails up directly above, but if you’re seating at dinner and it’s 100+ degrees out, you really need to offer more shade (even rattan blinds that roll up and down). The large fam from the ceiling was helpful, but super loud.
*At the very least, have the service team offer to move patrons inside when tables become available. *
I asked to be moved inside when a table became available, to which I got a grumpy “if something opens up”— however we sat and watched approximately 5 parties of 4+ leave and were never offered to move inside.
When a male waiter came with our food, he asked if we needed anything and I kinda joking kinda not said “a table inside??” And he said “of course!!! Let me go see if there’s anything open”
He quickly came back, with the hostess, not our waitress, and helped up move our drinks, flatware and plates inside— where there were no less than 6 empty tables at the front of the restaurant.
Asking to test a couple of flavors of ice cream was met with less than encouragement— but I’m thankful I did because I didn’t care for either the mint or almond and got the amazing strawberry instead.
Ok. This is the end of my long review. I hope your visit is better than ours. It really is a cute place and pretty good food.
And yes, we still tipped appropriately at 20+% bc life is hard and service workers —even grumpy ones—...
Read moreI had an incredibly frustrating experience with customer service recently. When my family and I arrived, we were patiently waiting outside, with only one party ahead of us. As more people arrived, I noticed they were being seated inside, so I asked if we had been called yet. They told me not yet, so we continued waiting. After some time, I asked if we could be seated outside since we'd been waiting so long. They agreed but mentioned they just needed to clean a table first.
When we were finally seated outside, they gave us a terrible table with no shade. To make matters worse, another party of about 8 people arrived shortly after, and they were quickly seated at the tables next to us. The waitress immediately greeted them and took their drink order. My family and I were still waiting for someone to approach our table. Feeling ignored, I went inside and asked to speak with a manager. I explained how I felt like we were being overlooked and ignored. The manager apologized and promised someone would be right over.
Soon after, the waitress came to our table, apologized, and said she hadn’t seen us, though we had been seated before the other party. She took our order and brought us water but then spilled a full glass of water right into my husband's lap. She apologized again and left to get napkins, but never returned with them. By the time someone else came to clean up, we had already taken care of it ourselves since it took so long.
When our food arrived, it was cold, and my order was wrong. She never came back to check if we needed anything else, so my husband had to go inside to ask for more coffee. When the waitress returned, I tried explaining how I felt about the service. Her response was rude, saying, "So, what are you trying to say?" I was shocked by her attitude. I told her that instead of being defensive, she could have responded by offering to fix the issues, but she responded with, "I know how to do my job, I've been doing this for 3 years."
At that point, I was done. I asked for the manager again and explained everything that had happened, including the waitress's unnecessary attitude. This used to be one of my favorite places to have breakfast with my family, but after this experience, I don’t feel welcome anymore and definitely won’t be coming back...
