This was my 2nd and last time visiting this restaurant simply due to the very passive aggressive behavior of the only seemingly Caucasian employee that I was able to see there. I arrived to cafe crepes around 12pm noon , unluckily right as a big event had just finished across the street, which meant the small place got flooded pretty quickly with customers. I placed my order of 1 single crepe and was told I would be found when my order was ready. The group of 3 that was behind me received their large order so I assumed , oh I mustâve not heard my number be called so let me go check on that. The TINY room filled with people made it difficult to get to the front and ask about my order so I nicely asked the Woman that was walking back inside if I maybe didnât hear my order of 1 crepe being called. She was maybe 7 inches away from my face when she passively aggressively told me âwell I am only in charge of making coffees I do not know the status of your orderâ, âwhatâs the order name ? They didnât ask for your name , it was the Nutella crepe right?â PUTTING ME ON THE SPOT IN FRONT OF THE FILLED ROOM, the room went quiet. She then went back to the other employees , asked about my crepe , and when they werenât aware of my order she rudely mocked them saying âI donât know ? So no one knows where that order isâ . The lady was stressed and cannot handle a stressful work environment. When I told my partner, who I visited the place with the first time, about the incident, he told me he had the same issue with the same woman the first time we ate there. She was rude to him as well and visibly was stressed. Taking out your frustration on your customers is not okay. I worked food service for years, I went about it as considerately as possible and have never even felt the need to write a bad review anywhere....
Read moreI rarely write reviews, but felt that I needed to for this place. I had high hopes as it had such a good rating, but we were pretty disappointed. I ordered the Salmon crepe, and it wasn't even palatable. They use a type of balsamic vinaigrette that I'm pretty sure is salad dressing instead of a balsamic glaze like you would typically find with a salmon crepe. The flavor combination of smoked salmon, dressing, and crepe were honestly pretty disgusting. I can usually eat almost anything, even if the taste isn't ideal, but this was so unpleasant that it made me sick. Also, the "greens" that accompanied the crepe had some slimy parts that left an ooze on my plate. I muscled through about 1/3 of the crepe before I couldn't take anymore and took it back to the lady at the counter. She offered to make me a different one, but I was so disgusted by that point that I had lost my appetite. My husband got a crepe with eggs and ham, and said it was adequate. We also purchased the lemon crepe, which was okay. (It was factoring in these other 2 crepes that equaled the 2 stars...if it was solely based on the salmon, it would be 1) I got a regular drip coffee, which was no better than what you would get at a gas station. My husband ordered a latte, but was given what was basically a cappuccino. The lady at the register was also pretty pushy. As we were ordering what we wanted, she would mention some other random item and ask if we wanted it. What added insult to injury is that it is quite expensive. We spent over $60 on 3 crepes & 2 coffees. The outside ambience is cute, the inside is pretty cheesy. We've been to Paris, we've had good crepes and coffee...this was not it. I hate to disparage a locally owned business, but hopefully this review will spur them on to making some...
Read moreHonest Review. This is one of those places you wished you could have found sooner in life. You forget that you're in Bakersfield for the time that you're here. It's cozy atmosphere resembles that of a French cafe that is nestled between old brick family buildings. The cooks are right there in front of you. Looks family owned, so don't be afraid to ask them to replenish the coffee because "Olde Aunte" forgot to make more. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu as far as food is concerned. From sweet to savory, they have you covered. We especially loved the chicken pesto, chicken florentine, and the blueberry lemon. We haven't tried the smoothies yet because the coffee is so good that you can't bypass it. This place looks small but they have alot of seating. Enough for special events such as luncheons or small family gatherings. Dining alfresco is also awesome during cooler months or off daylight peak hours. Eat in the left hand side dining room for a cozy experience. You can go by yourself, with the full family, or make it a date! You'll fit right in. No VIP service here. Just a nice comfortable cafe with great food and atmosphere. We've been several times and honestly don't remember to review it simply because it's out of mind. Most people review places when they have a bad experience. I just reviewed it because I'm going back, wanted to see when they closed, and realized I didn't have a...
