My husband and I found our summer vacation spot. When driving up to the Primrose Inn, the curb appeal is immediately noticeable. This property is a beautiful, cozy, home away from home. As we made our way inside we were welcomed by a warm and friendly receptionist, Elle. Our stay at the Primrose Inn was a total of 5 nights. On day one we stayed in room one, and it stole our hearts. You walk in and land in a precious little foyer with the choice of going in 3 different directions. Straight ahead is the private patio for 2. To the left is a spacious bathroom. To the right is the bedroom. As soon as I stepped into the bedroom, I saw the gorgeous wallpaper, lovely fireplace, and plenty room to kick back and relax. We were also able to check in a little earlier than planned, which was a nice surprise after just arriving to town. When we decided to head out again, we went downstairs to find that it was tea time; every day 2 different homemade sweets are put out for the guests enjoyment. If I could commend anything to you, readers, about the Primrose Inn - it would be that the food is amazing (we have no dietary restrictions). We enjoyed 5 thoughtfully prepared breakfasts each morning and it was a delicious and delightful food experience. Everything when we stayed was homemade by chef Raquel. My husband and I appreciate quality homemade food and rank it high on our wish list. The Primrose Inn was consistent everyday and we were very satisfied with each taste. The service from Billy in the dining room was great! We also were thankful for Ann’s service as she was helpful to us if we needed anything. This lovely and very well kept bed and breakfast is just a 5 minute walk from Downtown with lots to do nearby. It’s a safe area, and truly the best of both worlds being able to nestle away from the action and yet jump right in within minutes (we did have a car so we also adventured all over, and loved our time in Maine). But, we enjoyed many meals and treats at the local places Downtown. Aside from all the eating and browsing, just walking distance from our Inn; we were able to get setup for an E-bike tour of Acadia National Park with Coastal Kayaking Tours. You can also access the Shore Path or Bar Island and many more. Just wanted to share our experience as we weight reviews when we travel as much as the next person. We can’t wait to come back and stay at the...
Read moreWe reserved the Holland Suite for one night on our way to Bar Harbor over Memorial Day weekend, and upon checking in with Elise and seeing the room for ourselves, we booked a second night on the spot!
Elise was a fantastic representative for the property. We think she has a great future in the business if she chooses that route in life. She answered all of our questions, gave us lots recommendations for things to do and places to eat, and even marked everything up for us on a map so we could find the places easily. Elise was absolutely wonderful in all aspects of her interactions with us, both that first night and all the next day when we saw her. What a great asset to the company you have in her!
The Holland Suite rooms themselves were very comfortable, beautifully decorated, and very charming. The bathroom amenities smelled lovely, and I was so grateful to use them after a long drive from Boston! My husband absolutely loved the stay because of the fireplace and comfy chairs, and was so glad he was able to move a chair closer to the fireplace so that he could enjoy his morning paper with a cup of coffee from the dining room and not feel rushed at all. It was like home. Parking spots right outside our door was also a great help to us maneuvering through the bad weather. The location is so close to town, everything is very walkable and easy to get to. It was so convenient to come and go all day and into the evening. Very safe and well-lit, and we learned our way around quickly.
The food was also very delicious. Elise gave us warm cookies upon check in, and recommended the homemade blueberry muffins as a great "to go" when we were too stuffed from breakfast. :D We missed afternoon tea on both days, but we always were offered "leftovers" in to go bags when we got back. What a treat! It was so nice to be able to go into the dining room and get a cup of coffee or hot tea with the unseasonably cold weather at any time of day or night. We did just that several times during our stay.
The property is very beautiful, and overall very well maintained. We would definitely recommend it to anyone who thought about staying in Bar Harbor, and we hope to come back and visit again someday! - Deann...
Read moreMy husband and I decided to spend a special anniversary in Bar Harbor this past weekend; our first time to Maine. Everyone said "what will you do in Maine in December?" It really was "what wouldn't we enjoy about being in Maine in December?" And it all started with the Primrose Inn. The Inn is located less than 10 minutes walking distance from downtown Bar Harbor. It stands out with its welcoming warm tones and friendly staff. We were greeted by the Inn Keeper, Brandon and checked in by Walker. Walker spent lots of time with us talking through restaurants and things to do in town. The room was quite comfortable and very well decorated. Suzie puts together some amazing, delicious and filling breakfasts and serves with a small and a conversation! The team nailed the 5 star from us after we had the pleasure of talking to Walker (who surprised us by making a blueberry cheesecake for us for our anniversary). Brandon went above and beyond the day of our anniversary when he traveled to another site to pick up a decanter for us for a special wine we brought. Talk about exceeding expectations for customer service. We were already talking about plans for annual trips up there before we even left, including a trip up next year...
