I stayed here for two nights while exploring Acadia NP. It's a charming place. The hosts were hospitable and welcoming for all guests. The room was extremely comfortable and clean, and had good quality toiletries. It's a good location; Bar Harbor is a very walkable town, and parking in town was hectic (peak tourist weekend in October), so it was good that I could leave my car here while exploring town on foot. The breakfast is definitely not to be overlooked here. The fresh blueberry pancakes I had one morning were exceptional; bacon was nice and crispy, too. The frittata and ham the next morning were quite good, filling, and flavorful, and even the fresh fruits each day had thoughtful little touches. I was not even slightly inclined to eat breakfast in town after seeing the restaurant quality here. They also leave out a variety of homemade baked goods for guests every afternoon, plus snacks that are available all day. Holbrook House sets the bar high for a B&B and it fits the vibe of a trip to Bar Harbor and Acadia perfectly!

Just perfect. Beautiful home in the perfect place. Not to close to downtown but my wife and I walked all over Bar Harbor with no issues and no driving. The husband and wife team knock hospitality out of the park and thought of everything. The breakfast was fantastic every day and always something different. She's not just a homeowner who can cook, she is a legitimate chef. Fantastic flavors and top notch presentation every time. 24-7 coffee is a nice touch for coffee hounds like me. The after hours brownies were amazing.. They have umbrellas you can borrow and hotel-themed coffee mugs for purchase-yes I have one. The house and grounds are beautiful, especially the newly refurbished front porch. Well done Eric! You guys made our 25th anniversary special. We can't thank you enough but we CAN and WILL stay there again.

My wife and I stay here 6 nights. The place is spectacular. Everything was 5 star. The food was amazing. I often skip breakfast and just grab something quick but I couldn't do that here. The food is the best, fresh, organic, chef worthy food. Breakfasts switch each day between savoury and sweet. There is always fresh drinks and coffee/tea available and each day at 3 they'd serve freshly baked goods and serve fruit. The owners and cleaning staff were great. They were also very helpful and informative with helping you get the most out of your time there with exploring the island and the towns from hiking to the best food spots. Owners Michelle and Eric are great and I highly recommend The Holbrook House Bed & Breakfast! We will be coming back.

A classic B&B close to downtown Bar Harbor. This 13 room Inn is located along the main avenue, Desert Street. There is a 10–15-minute walk to the famous Village Green. ||Michelle and Eric have own Holbrooke for 14 years. We met a couple who has visited annually this Inn for the same amount of time. It is a well operated, organized, clean and friendly Inn. ||This 2024 visit was our second time to this Inn. The key is to go-on-line and pick your room. We had chosen room #11, “Compass Rose,” as it has a king size bed, has a walk-in shower, AC and a small balcony. The room, though, is on the second floor and would not be good for those that have mobility issues. There are rooms on the first floor too. ||The highlight of the Inn is the breakfast. What we thought was good for 2023, was even better in 2024. There are 2 seating’s: one for 8:00am and the other 9:00. You can also opt for a take-out breakfast for those that want to go out earlier. You do get several choices for each day. A clip-board is placed on a table for selections for the following day. ||Eric brings out a small bowl of fresh fruit to start the breakfast. For our 7 days we had Frittata, pancakes, French-Toast and gourmet styled eggs. There was always some type of meat like country-ham, bacon or a good size sausage. Everything was delicious. ||As for alternatives, there is choices like a good size salad with eggs; and home-style oatmeal. Coffee (and decaf) was provided with fruit juices. In the afternoon, there were home-made snacks like freshly baked cookies and various cakes with fruit inside.||Parking is either in the front of the house or in back. If you do park in front, there are times of the day in which the road along Desert Street is awfully busy. ||My wife did not like the smaller TV in the room. She also complained about the Roku remote control. But she loved the soft pillows though. ||On our second visit to Bar Harbor, we made it to Jordan Pond. Take the free bus located on the Village Green as parking is atrocious. On a nice day, we did take a large boat to see the Lighthouses. There is much to enjoy in Bar Harbor.||If you found this review to be helpful in any way, please click “Thumbs-up” to...

First time staying here and in Bar Harbor and we were very happy with our choice.|Location - Very good. Maybe a 10 minute walk to downtown, so convenient to the shops, restaurant, and waterfront, but far enough away to be quiet. Off street parking and never had a problem getting a spot.|Exterior - Very pretty and beautiful gardens. Front porch seating and some garden seating. Common areas were very nice, with an enclosed sunroom for breakfast.|Room - We had the Cadillac room which is a spacious room for two on the top floor. We loved it and it worked perfectly for us. Please read my notes regarding whether it will work for you. It had a really nice sofa to watch TV, plus a separate seating area for two. Mini-fridge and microwave included. Two large closets. The bed was fine with good pillows and generally we slept well. Some road noise in the morning, but very minor. Some noise from neighbors as well as is is an vintage home, but to be expected and not a problem for us. With the room AC running, you get a nice white noise background. AC worked well. The windows also open if you want fresh air. Bathroom was well appointed. The room was cleaned well every day.|Notes on this room: This is the top floor of the house. It requires two flights of stairs to get there and is built into the eaves. If you have mobility issues, I would not take this room. If you are over about 5' 10", you might want to avoid this. The ceiling is low is places, including the shower. Also, because of the layout, there is no room for nightstands next to the bed. The room is spacious and there is no shortage of space in general. but it does require two flights of stairs so keep that in mind. We really liked how quaint it was, but the room isn't for everyone.|Breakfast: Breakfasts were excellent and ample. We generally skipped lunch and went right to an early dinner as they were so filling. There were options for what to get, but we always opted for the main selection and never regretted it. Fresh hot coffee and juices in the morning. 24x7 Keurig and snacks, both packaged and homemade.|Service: Everyone was friendly and we had no issues.||We would gladly go back here on another visit...

What an amazing experience! We stayed at Holbrook House from September 1 - 4, 2025 for our first visit to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Eric is an outstanding host, and the inn and grounds are quite beautiful.

We chose the Compass Rose room for our stay. It was bright, beautifully appointed, inviting, immaculate and very comfortable. Everything about the room and inn overall was thoughtfully placed and included, down to the room colors, artifacts and pictures adorning the walls. It's simply stunning. The bed in our room is extremely comfortable and had the perfect balance of firmness and cushioning. The inn was also quiet and perfect for getting a good night's sleep.

Breakfast was excellent with ample portions, perfect for days spent walking in Bar Harbor and hiking or biking in Acadia. Fresh coffee, water and juice is available and you can select the breakfast time best suited for your needs. We had fresh fruit each morning along with a breakfast entree. During our stay we were treated to blueberry pancakes, spinach quiche and stuffed French toast. Everything on our plate was fresh and delicious. Each afternoon fresh baked goods were available in the dining area for guests, each offering was as good as the next, but the blueberry lemon cake was my favorite. If you are unable to make breakfast, you can select a to-go breakfast bag which is a nice amenity for early scheduled tours.

The location is approximately a quarter mile to main street, a very easy and pleasant walk to downtown or around town. There are so many beautiful homes on Mt. Desert Street to look at you dont mind a nice walk. Its also a quick 5 to 10 minute drive to Acadia. Parking is in front and back, so no issues with finding a space.

We accidentally left one of our backpacks in the room, as it fell behind a chair while packing. Eric called us no later than 5 minutes after we left to let us know, so we quickly returned to retrieve it. Thank you again Eric!

I highly recommend the Holbrook House for beautifully appointed and comfortable rooms, amazing breakfasts and...
