Mount Dessert Bakery — Restaurant in Bar Harbor

Wanted to try this place so bad because the menu looked so interesting but every time we tried to go, they were closed. Plan accordingly since their hours are minimal. The woman taking our order seemed very over her job, she was kind of short with us and blunt. However what lacked in personality, they made up for in taste! I got the mother stuffin turkey sandwich is and was so good! Thin sliced Turkey and wonderful cranberry relish. All so good. The little bags of chips that come with it are a joke though. Come on guys, for a $16.00 sandwich, you should be including a full size bag of chips, not a Halloween goody bag. It literally had 9 chips in it! Also they were out of pie, but we got a mixed berry bar, it was very good too. My kids were able to get string cheese, yogurt pouch, and apple as their lunch, because that’s all they eat anyways, lol. Such an amazing place! Great food, coffee and pastries! My Husband and I went almost everyday we were here! We even got a cake from them for our wedding in Acadia! It was perfect!

We came to Acadia National Park to get married and the Thursday before our wedding (a Saturday) we were going around to local bakeries to try some desserts to try and pick one for our after wedding dinner with our family. We went to Mount Dessert Bakery for the first time after a waiter at another restaurant said they had a great bakery. We tried a cake they had on display, a chocolate coconut with cream cheese frosting, and it was amazing! So we talked to them about getting a whole cake for our wedding. They were so nice, gave us a sheet with all the flavors and combinations available. We got a lemon blueberry cake with cream cheese frosting. Ordered a special 16th birthday cake as we were driving into town on vacation from very far away. Were told it would be ready for pick up the next day between 1 and 2pm, to pick up before they close at 3. Arrived at 1:40 and was told it would be at least another 15-20 minutes. Very inconvenient, as I was a tourist, on foot, in the rain, and arrived when I was told to pick up. The baker told me she rushed to get it done, so I could take it (even though I had arrived when told), and she stomped away. It was placed in too large of a box, so it had to be carried very carefully, but still slid around inside. Within minutes, the top layer of the cake was leaning to one side before my daughter even saw it, as though the cake was still warm when the layers where built. Overpaid for an ugly small cake, treated rudely, and saddened that the bakery couldn’t make a stronger attempt at brightening a special birthday. Perhaps they’re better suited for...
