As someone who could stand in the middle of the week and see both Sundays, a relaxing, small town family restaurant was just what I needed Wednesday, July 17 2024. I walk in, yes? No, you glide in. Eagle’s flight. That’s how relaxing it felt. No I’m not over exaggerating, there is big neon sign that says Dinner, and you just know you are about to eat. No balogna, no macaroni, just good food, good service, good waiter, cheap. Here was kicker, however. When you walk in, you find out why the restaurant was originally called “Genee Dinner”. Genee is owner. Kind, old woman who greets you at front. When she came up to front to greet us, while staff started clapping and singing “She’ll be coming around the mountain when she comes”. I see no mountain, only sweet old woman with long fingernail and big perm, but I digress. Here is where I get offend. If I could change one thing, I would change the net worth check. Yes, I’m not joking as much as it seem like I am. Genee insisted to see our wallets, I thought it was for legal drink age (I AM 53), but it was for net worth check. She used a scanner and through the wallet it said my net worth 730,000 rough estimate? Not true, I am millionaire. However, someone with a lesser net worth? What would have happen? Deny access? This I believe. VERY ODD. However, the service and food was unlike any I have ever been serve. True courteousness and class, I felt like king. I eat like king. My 4 year old son relish in the juicy lamb leg he tear limb from limb. Felt like we back home. Only regret not bring a bib. Waiter look on like he saw Buddha‘s return. The inside look like Metropolis, true unchecked capitalism, in the best way possible. But still relax. Luckily Genee was tired and retired for evening, so television stop playing her life story. Now we can truly relax, and hear ourselves talk when we speak to new Icelandic couple we meet at bar while kids play in ball pit near back. True to its name, this truly was “DINNER”....
Read moreWow! Let’s talk about Dinner. The experience was wonderful from making the reservation to waving good-bye to Debbie and Patrick on our way out. Now let me tell you why. We were a party of three and lucky enough to get a same-day reservation when we called and spoke to Debbie. She offered us a high top and assured us we would be comfortable. We started with 2 Grand Royales from the cocktail list and a Jack Daniel’s & Ginger Ale. All were perfectly crafted. For starters my DH ordered the Ahi Tuna special, and the bestie and I split the Drunken Shrimp special. We could have licked that bowl clean! For dinner, we ordered a bottle of wine from their above average wine list. My dining mates each ordered the Belfast Lawyer from the regular menu. Their dishes were phenomenal. I got one tiny bite because they weren’t willing to share more. I ordered the ribeye with the blue cheese (from the strip steak special, thanks Debbie.) It was a huge serving, so I had steak and eggs for breakfast! They ate all my mashed potatoes though. We usually don’t order dessert, but this meal was so worthy. The 3 of us split the chocolate torte and a lemon cake. There was not a crumb left on either plate. While dessert was great, the excellent attention and hospitality from Debbie and Patrick were the sprinkles on the top for us. I almost don’t want to leave this review for fear of not getting a table next time I’m in town…., Debbie, I’ll call...
Read moreLiterally, one of the best places I have ever eaten at in my entire life! Mind you, I am a world traveler. We ordered the French onion soup, and the shrimp appetizer. For dinner, we ordered the Schnitzel and Bone in pork chop. We also ordered two drinks. A margarita and an old-fashioned. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was very cozy and intimate. I loved the old music that was playing in the restaurant and our waitress Debbie was great! She was super knowledgeable on the menu and had a great sense of humor. When it comes to the food, the French onion soup was so tasty! The croutons were cooked to perfection and the cheese on top was melted so it would just string from the bowl to the spoon. The shrimp and crostini were in a delicious cream sauce and the shrimps were a decent size. The schnitzel was served on top of mashed potatoes, and glazed carrots. The schnitzel was crusted perfectly and pounded out not too thin. The bone in pork chop was served on top of butternut squash risotto and apple cider sautéed onions and glazed carrots. I highly recommend making a reservations. We were fortunate enough to walk in when they first opened so the bar was first come first serve. There were no tables open unless you had a...
