The Sitka Sound Science Center is a hidden gem for anyone interested in marine life and conservation. The touch tanks were an interactive highlight, especially for getting up close with sea stars and other local marine creatures. But what really set the experience apart was the chance to witness how salmon is processed. It was fascinating to learn about the life cycle of salmon and how they play a crucial role in the local ecosystem. Plus, the center’s dedication to education and preserving Sitka’s marine environment is truly inspiring. This is a fantastic stop for anyone wanting to dive deeper into the science behind Alaska’s waters.

I had so much fun visiting the Sitka Science Center! Loved being able to touch all the sea life. Maia was a great host throughout the facility and is so super knowledgeable about marine life. My visit really made me want to learn more about the ocean and sea life. Thank you Science Center for a wonderful visit!!

Very small aquarium. They hands-on touch tanks. The hatchery was closed when we visited. I don't regret going but they had lots more opportunities for the education of local wildlife for the price. I know most of the business is seasonal. I hope they can expand.

We went for the touch tanks, which were a lot of fun for both the kids and adults in our group. The hatchery tour was part of the ticket, and I was apprehensive at first but it ended up being awesome! Our guide, Julie, was so passionate about the ecology of the salmon and we learned some really cool stuff. Plus the tour was only half an hour (touch tanks are at your own pace, we spent about 20 minutes), so we had plenty of time to explore town before we were due back at our ship. I would definitely...

Not worth the price to get in! From the description, it sounded like a much bigger center. It's one room with touch tanks and aquariums around the walls. My husband, 14 year old daughter and myself went last week and after realizing how small it actually was, I had asked if I could get a refund, but was denied. We ended up going in the room for 10 mins and then leaving, a waste of money for us, most of the items in the tank we had already seen walking on the rocks on the beaches...
