It’s nice that this place is a roaster, cultivating their own craft.

The overall quality of their baristas is something that could be improved. The cappuccino I had was simply layered with foam...merely a latte with a little foam on top. A proper cappuccino should have the foam combined with the espresso giving the entire drink a fluffy texture...not simply espresso with milk and foam laid on top. That being said, the people working here were nothing short of sweet, kind and have great service...I’m merely speaking to their training of how to make each drink. Yes. I’m being picky, simply because I don’t think this place lives up to the 4.5 star rating it’s earned.

Highliner Coffee in Sitka is a fantastic spot that you absolutely must visit if you're in the area. Their Red Bull Italian Soda reminded me so much of one of my favorite drinks from Dutch Bros the Strawberry Rebel. The flavors are spot-on, with that perfect balance of sweetness and a refreshing kick that wakes you up. It brought back great memories and might even be better than the original!

Aside from their amazing sodas, the atmosphere at Highliner Coffee is welcoming and cozy, making it a great place to relax or catch up with friends. The coffee is good! The cookies are great and the bagel sandwiches are the best. Smoked salmon bagels! Or a sandwich with spinach, tomatoes and cream cheese is one of the best lunches you can have downtown. A quick bite on the go and a great cup of coffee. If your looking for a slower pace they have tables. Chairs. Couches a nice place to relax and enjoy the nostalgic pictures of the fishing fleet decorating the walls.
