My stay at this hotel has been the worst experience I have had at a Marriott property in the 20 years I have been a Marriott rewards member. Actually it has been the worst hotel stay I have ever had. The day I was scheduled to check in I called the hotel front desk to make them aware that I was traveling from the Metro Atlanta area and unfortunately waylaid due to traffic, hence I would be arriving late, around 1AM. I arrived at the hotel only to discover the hotel was sold out and the only room left available was a handicap accessible room (with a broken toilet and stopped up sink), despite the fact that my reservations were prepaid and I called to confirm I was en route. The next morning I asked for a room change due to the issues with the room and the young lady at the front desk obliged such. Totally no worries at this juncture. When moving into the new room I discovered one of the room keys didn’t work. My 17 year old grandson went down to the front desk to activate the key and was informed we would need to move to yet another room. I went down to retrieve the new keys and just out sheer curiosity asked to what the room change was attributed and the general manager, Glen Vlasic, who was speaking to the front desk associate, gave me a scathing look, and, in a very harsh and abrasive manner and angry tone, barks “because the tv is broken”. Needless to say I was taken aback, especially given the fact that the encounter had been very cordial and pleasant up to that point. I wasn’t upset in any way, just curious what was wrong with the room. I said “Sir, is everything okay? We are in Disney World, this should be a pleasant experience…”. Instead of apologizing and/or correcting his demeanor as his egregious behavior and was completely unwarranted and unjustified, he says “I see you and I have a problem so I’m going to let this young lady continue to help you”, and storms off. When he left the front desk area I asked the associate who he was. He must have overheard and doubled down on his deplorable behavior and returns to arrogantly hand me his business card. When I returned to the room I recount what transpired to my grandson he indicated he was rude and abrupt with him as well and noted there was a marked difference in how he was treated in comparison to other guests who were at the desk. Apparently Mr. Vlasic was quite pleasant when interacting with the other guests. I understand it is now commonplace to to treat people of certain ethnicities in such a manner, but it does not align with the Marriott brand standard, and as a middle aged business professional and 20 year Marriott rewards member I find this demeanor unacceptable. The Marriott brand is synonymous with stellar service and accommodations. When you stay at a Marriott hotel you expect a certain caliber property. As such, I plan to file a formal complaint. Conversely, I just spent four days at the Ven in DC in April and the stay was exceptional and in keeping with the Marriott brand standard. It gets worse, unbelievably. After the above mentioned debacle, we brushed ourselves off and went to the parks and Disney Springs. We arrive back to the hotel around 11PM and shower hop in bed. When I turn down the bed covers there is BLOOD on the top cover and in between the sheets. We call the front desk, no answer. My grandson calls from the website which must have shown as an external call, and the front desk answered and says someone will be up to change the bed sheets. No one comes. I go down to the front desk and they indicate housekeeping is gone for the evening so we can change the sheets ourselves or switch rooms…then moments later she says she would feel more comfortable if we switch rooms, so 1-2 AM in the morning we are switching rooms for the FOURTH time in 24 hours, at no fault of our own. No one has even called to apologize for the blood in the sheets and our FOUR room changes. This has been a harrowing experience that has negatively impacted our vacation.

This was our first stay. We stayed here for 1 week while we were visiting Disney. Pros:

  1. Rooms were clean and spacious for the most part. The hotel was also quiet during the day and at night during our stay. Rooms have microwave & fridge (although our fridge froze everything you put in it in a few hours. Water bottles frozen solid even when we put them in the door.
  2. Staff was pleasant, especially the staff that worked the breakfast buffet area. They kept it well stocked and clean & were nice.
  3. Complimentary breakfast buffet included a nice variety of options daily: yogurt, 4 types of breakfast cereals, fresh fruit, bagels, English muffins, bread, eggs, eggs with bell peppers, turkey bacon & sausage , pork sausage links & sausage patties, salsa & cheese, Mickey waffles with all the fixings, oatmeal with several mix ins. Apple & orange juice, Milk, coffee, hot chocolate & tea packets.
  4. Hotel is across the street from Target, Five Below, Wendy’s, and several other. We also were able to have a Walmart+ delivery delivered to the hotel. We made sure we were there to pick it up in the lobby upon arrival.
  5. Large pool and hot tub. The pool area also has a ping pong table. We had fun using on our pool day.
  6. Elevators were Disney themed.
  7. Has a gym and arcade; however, we did not use either during our stay.
  8. Within 10-15 minutes driving distance to parks
  9. This cold be a pro or con-the bed was VERY firm-My husband liked it, but I hated it. The pillows were uncomfortable.
  10. Air conditioner worked well. Con’s: 1)The shower was the biggest con.It could use a deep clean or new caulking around the edges as there was mold growing around the bottom of the shower. I wiped with Clorox wipes but it did not come off. The bathroom fan didn’t work and probably contributed to mold growth. We had NO hot water one entire night, which was a bummer because it rained at the parks and we were looking forward to coming back to take a warm shower, but ended up with a cold one. Apparently, it was out in the entire building. They had it fixed by morning. The Shower also had ZERO water pressure. The door around the shower leaked water unless you faced the shower head towards the wall, which was hard to do with minimal water pressure sprinkling on you. The water pressure would make me think twice about staying here.
  11. The hotel room had a musty smell to it when we first walked in. We fixed this by getting an air freshener at Target the first day.
  12. Although the room was clean, the shelving above the microwave had some sort of spillage, I cleaned what I could off with my Clorox wipes, but it had been there a while and I could only reach so far without getting a chair.
  13. The pool area was nice, but I think they need to do a deep cleaning of the sides tiles (the ones that sit above the water along the edge of the pool & hot tub. They were no longer blue in color but appeared brown. It kept me from wanting to sit on the pool edges.
  14. The laundry room-it appeared clean when we walked in; however the washing machines were dirty inside. The two top loaders had dirt/grass in them.I ended up wiping these two out & using them because the front loaders smelled HORRIBLE and one had standing water in the bottom of it. The coin machine did not work & the front desk was aware when we asked them to make change.
  15. Transportation to parks-only offer 2 times to get there. I think it was 8:30am & 10am. I can’t remember the return times, but I remember it not being convenient times. We are use to Disney transportation which runs all day, so this was not good for us. No rope dropping or mid day breaks using this transportation. We ended up taking the Lyft everyday which added to our cost ($13-$16 + tip each ride)
  16. Housekeeping came every other day, which is normal after COVID.We had to request fresh towels. The tissue box was empty after our first day & never refilled. We kept forgetting to ask for a new one.

Overall, I’m not sure I would stay here again, but, if you are on a budget, it’s a decent...

Sadly, this hotel has gone downhill. First of all, they are charging $15 a night for parking! Even though if you come in late from one of the amusement parks, there’s no parking left in this particular hotels parking lot. You have to actually park in the connecting hotels parking lot or way out in the back of the hotel. And I’m still confused exactly why they are charging for parking when it use to be FREE here. This is just another way to milk more money out of people. The food I would compare to a school cafeterias or hospital food. It was terrible it was just the cheapest chicken tenders they could find. And it was extremely expensive for what we got. Then the room they first put us in, had an air conditioner that was falling apart. The front of the air conditioner actually fell off, and there was caked up dirt and mold in the air conditioner, and the wires were hanging out the bottom. When I made the front desk aware of the problem, they said that the wires hanging from the bottom, (that could electrocute a little kid) was normal. They told me that they were going to send the maintenance man down to fix it. He never showed up, but they did put me in another room. The other room they put me in was no better. The shower barely put out any water and it took an excessive amount of time to even to get your hair washed out because it just trickled out. It took each person almost 30 minutes to take a shower. The coffee maker didn’t even have the pieces to it so it was unusable. Our room had a marijuana smell in it. I actually had requested a non-smoking room! They should not be charging people this much for crappy rooms. And there was also a safety hazard with the door, not closing completely. So if you weren’t paying attention, you could leave your door wide open because the door wouldn’t close properly. The couch was absolutely disgusting and unusable. Someone had spilled something all over the side of the cushions. And the mattress that pulls out underneath the couch, was disgusting and stained. So it made the couch pretty much useless. This is the only reason I came back to this hotel is because they had the couch. Also the pool area is more for like adults. It’s mainly a bunch of drunk people hanging out at the pool and hogging the hot tub. I would really like some of my money back. Because this place was absolutely ridiculously overpriced with all the stuff wrong with the rooms. There are way better hotels out there closer to Disney and Universal. This will be the last time I ever come back to this place. But what really ticked me off is the parking fee!! STOP CHARGING GUEST TO PARK IN A PARKING LOT THAT WAS...
