I’ve stayed at Home2 Suites by Hilton Orlando at Flamingo Crossings twice now, both times for business — even though I’m a travel agent and a Disney Annual Passholder, I normally don’t recommend this hotel to clients, just because I hadn’t stayed there myself. But, now that I’ve experienced it firsthand, I can honestly say I’d stay here again, even for a personal trip.||The hotel is in a beautiful area, super clean, and the whole Flamingo Crossings district has a ton to offer. It’s set up like a little shopping village — you’ve got a Target within walking distance (which came in handy when I didn’t have a car), plus restaurants like Five Guys, Hash House A Go Go, a Mexican grill, a Japanese place, and even Skyline Chili. There’s also a Walgreens nearby. You’re getting convenience without the chaos of being in the middle of Orlando traffic.||There’s also a Homewood Suites, a Fairfield Inn, and maybe a Residence Inn all in the same area. These hotels share a beautiful outdoor walking area with seating, gazebos, and grills available to use (I think there were 6–8 of them). The pool area looked awesome — not just a boring rectangle, but a pool with actual slides. I didn’t swim, but it looked like a great place for families. The Homewood Suites also has a bar near the pool that you can walk over to, even if you’re staying at Home2 Suites.||Inside, the hotel is super clean, and there’s a lot of Disney-themed decor throughout. The lobby has a bar area, though I never saw it open during my stays. The elevators can get a little busy at peak times, especially when folks are coming or going from the parks, but they’re fun — each one is wrapped with a design for one of the four Disney parks.||Both rooms I stayed in (one with two beds, and one king room) were comfortable and spacious. The rooms come with a fridge, microwave, dishwasher, stocked cabinets with dishes and utensils, and even dish soap and cleaning supplies. There’s a little convenience section in the lobby where you can buy frozen meals and snacks, or you can walk over to Target and stock up there. The bathrooms were clean and modern, and overall, everything about the room felt well-kept and thoughtfully laid out.||One big plus: Mickey waffles at breakfast. They use the same batter and waffle irons as you’ll find in the Disney resorts — and unlike at Disney, where you’ll pay $15+ for two or three waffles, here you can make as many as you want. That’s a fun touch for families, especially if you want a little Disney magic without staying on-property.||Now, just to be clear — this hotel isn’t officially part of Disney’s Good Neighbor Hotel program (at least not that I saw — it wasn’t listed on the official Good Neighbor Hotel site), and you don’t get on-site Disney hotel perks like Early Entry or free park parking. But if you’re an Annual Passholder, or just don’t need all the on-site benefits, this is an incredible alternative. Location-wise, it’s about as close to Disney as you can get without actually being on Disney property. It’s right outside the western entrance, and you’ll drive past Coronado Springs on your way in. If you get a room facing Disney property, you might even catch fireworks views at night.||The staff were friendly and helpful every time I interacted with them, which really adds to the overall experience.||If you’re looking for a solid, clean, and comfortable hotel with great amenities and close proximity to Walt Disney World, this is a fantastic choice. I’m even considering bringing my family next time I come down for work. Since my job pays for the hotel, my wife and kids could hang out by the pool, relax, and then we could all head to the parks when I’m done for the day. Just keep in mind — you will have to pay for theme park parking if you’re driving in from here.||The hotel offers a shuttle to the parks, but it has to be reserved. I looked up the times and it looked like some were sold out. I would honestly just recommend renting a car if you fly to Orlando.||All in all, highly recommend. Whether you’re visiting Disney, traveling for work, or just want a hotel that checks all the boxes without breaking the bank, Home2 Suites at Flamingo Crossings is...
Read more3.5* rating - We recently chose to stay here long term (8 nights) because of how conveniently close it was to the Disney themed parks and because of the postive reviews this hotel had. I've stayed in a few Hilton hotels in the past and had positive experiences here and there.
To start, their app check in is great! Especially given the fact that our flight landed past midnight and I was worried we may have had our room canceled. Prior to the trip I had contacted the hotel to ensure my flight time would not interfere with my booking and the staff was very helpful and gave me the reassurance that it would not be canceled.
Complementary shuttle service to the parks are shared amongst the neighboring hotels but have limited spaces (37 seats each day at the time of my booking) and must be booked 24hrs in advance. This can be done online or at front desk but beware because of the mix reviews ranging from lateness of the buses and the driver being rude (3rd party shuttle service). Pick up is actually next door at the hilton and not actually at home2 suites which they won't say if you book online. Pick up is also at the same spot as park drop off use at your own risk!
Complementary breakfast was pleasant and offered a range of waffles, breakfast sandwiches, premade omlettes, yogurt, cereal, fresh fruits (oranges /bananas) coffee, hot chocolate and tea - no complaints there.
One minor issue I had with this hotel was housekeeping not checking our shampoo/shower gel and when asked to refill they would either refill one or the other but just 1/4 a time which I find weird. Rooms were clean and we appreciated their hard work.
Now my major issue that left a sour taste in my mouth was on the last day (check out). Throughout our stay I had a car rental for 3 nights and on our first night I had went to front desk in the evening, specified the nights we needed parking for and the young lady was kind to help me out ( I forgot her name but she had piercings). Parking is $20 usd per a night which is kinda steep but it was fine, she provided me a print out parking permit and on the permit it specified the 3 nights. Staff never said anything else so I proceeded out to the car to put it on the dash of my rental (didn't need her to tell me because it was "logical" that I did so). Anyways, when it came to checking out I check my invoice and was charged all 8 nights. Unfortunately I had Blanca help me, she seemed annoyed but needed to pretend to be nice. The belittling and attitude she had was appalling but I had to remain calm because I had a flight to catch and needed this to resolve. She first questioned my "logic" and basically told me I lacked common sense because apparently I needed to return the parking permit. In which I answered I was never told this from the evening staff and neither did it say on the paper permit to do so. Had I been informed I would have done so but she clearly wasn't satisfied with my answer and proceed to again tell me it was "logic" to which I found was total BS. You would expect that if I had specified the 3 nights it would be on my booking folio so even without the permit it should still say in the system but clearly it didn't seem to be the case with their system. She kept talking over me when I was trying to explain to a point where I thought what was the point in trying to get my money back? It's common sense to inform guests so there wouldn't be any misunderstanding on their part and clearly they missed the mark. My fiance heard the commotion and had to stepped over to check me out and it seemed like only then she was going to process my refund but not with her putting up a fight and belittling me the entire time while she was processing it. I think after dealing with this experience I would be a saint in any other...
Read moreGenerally a very good property, with a few relatively minor inconveniences. Location-wise, it's very well placed -- immediately off the Florida 429 toll road and on a direct (non-toll) access road to Walt Disney World Resort. There's a smaller Target store nearby (with a gigantic Super Target w/ full grocery available one exit south via the 429). There are also a handful of quick food options nearby, with more being built. So far, no gas stations nearby, though it's possible those are in the works. In the meantime, you'd need to take the toll road south to US 192 or go onto Disney property to get fuel. The rooms are quite nice. As a newer property the rooms haven't quite been ravaged yet; everything felt clean and well-maintained. There's ample storage via a "closet" (rods/hangers with a curtain in front of them), wall-mounted shelf cubbies, and counter style drawers/cabinets with desktops of varying heights. Plenty of bed-side table space, too, with outlets (both USB and standard electric) everywhere. Check-in was easy and quick (though it was a Wednesday night so not exactly high demand), and we were able to find a cart for our luggage then. Presuming they were all downstairs in the lobby given the weird off-hour, they seem to have six luggage carts... maybe eight given the size of the holding area. That might be a problem during busier times. We hear good things about their breakfast offerings, but the 6am-9am timeframe didn't really work out for our schedule so we just opted to toast bagels in the room. The kitchenette offered a full-sized microwave, a residential but not-quite full-sized fridge/freezer (still much larger than a dorm fridge -- maybe 4 or 5 feet tall), a toaster, and a sink with disposal. We only had two real qualms about our stay. First, as petty as it is, the paper towels offered in the kitchenette were laughably flimsy. As in, single ply, almost toilet-paper-like, and so-thin that the quilted pattern embossed on them occasionally was cut clear through. They tore unevenly and were basically a wadded mess that almost disintegrated any time you tried to use them on anything remotely damp. Any potential cost savings or environmental savings were rendered futile by the need to use 2-4 towels for a task that would normally only require one. Our second qualm, as others have mentioned, is the parking situation. Three hotels are on a small parcel with little parking between them. We lucked out on the night we arrived because it was mid-week. But towards the weekend, arriving back when the theme parks closed made for difficulty finding a spot. There is a shared parking garage (free) between the three hotels, but the last thing you want to deal with after a long day of schlepping through the theme parks is to have to park in a garage one or two buildings away and walk back. It's not even a long walk -- maybe five or ten minutes depending on where you wind up -- but it's just sort of morally defeating. Overall the pros far outweigh the cons. We lived in the attractions area for eleven years and this was our first trip back after more than a year away -- we picked this hotel because we knew it would be a good location and have generally had good luck with the Home2 brand (minus one lousy experience near the Jacksonville FL airport). I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this Flamingo Crossings...
