Best restaurant on Thanksgiving! I drove in from Wyoming hoping to make it there before they closed for Thanksgiving dinner. I got there about 10 minutes to 9, pretty much depressed because I thought I'd missed Thanksgiving dinner. I walked inside anyway and to my surprise the restaurant was still open, and the buffet was still open and in full service. They had plenty of turkey, cranberry sauce (with real berries), mashed potatoes, dressing, green bean salad, and all the other sides for a great Thanksgiving dinner. All of the servers were in a very cheery mood even though they had to work Thanksgiving night. I had approximately an hour left to eat, but enjoyed talking with the staff members and servers and the other local folks that were in there having dinner as well and had an absolutely great time. For this truck driver who happens to be away from home for a lot of the major holidays, these folks and this place made me feel very welcome and they pretty much were my family away from home. I know this is a late review but I finally got around to it. Thank you everyone at Country Market Restaurant, you all made my Thanksgiving last year! if I'm ever stuck out on the road during a major holiday and anywhere near this truck stop/restaurant again, I will definitely stop here and spend time with you good folks! You all were GREAT! I'd give ten stars if I could, and I WHOLEHEARTEDLY recommend this place to all drivers and road-trippers! Stop and be pleasantly...
Read moreI stood there waiting for someone to acknowledge me, after noticing that EVERY server saw me, a few minutes later a waitress said "can I help you sir?" So I stated the obvious; because I never saw a sign that said seat yourself. When she brought me a menu I told her exactly what I wanted before she set it down, 5 whole minutes later the very same person came back to the table and asked me what I wanted to order so I told her again. It all went down hill from there.....I won't go into all the details, I'll just say don't come in here if you're in a hurry like most truckstop restaurants seem to understand, like if you're trying to grab a quick meal during a 30 break, you'll spend an hour here minimum, which isn't totally terrible, just sayin' for informational purposes to my fellow drivers. The people who work here are very nice and friendly, lots of Midwest hospitality, which is a nice change for someone used to Westcoast liberal hatred and selfishness.
I definitely don't understand the 18% gouge for to go orders; I guess it's legal if they post it on a whiteboard, but where's the logic in charging a pre-determined tip before evaluating the service, that's not what tipping is all about....they should be EARNED, not part of the routine.
I've been here several times over the years and the food is usually pretty good for a coffee shop, much better than the other County Market Restaurant at the Pilot on the west side of town, that one is...
Read moreWoke up nothing to eat at the hotel (at least not good food anyway). Went to my favorite Google maps in search of a place to get some breakfast. This restaurant popped up since it was closest to the hotel. From outside looks ran down. It is attached to a restaurant and casino. Inside was decent, so I had to commit, plus I was straving at this point. It was super busy since it was the Easter holiday. Sat at the little bar and grab a menu. It is a sit yourself restaurant (FYI). Server Crystal was hustling but very nice. I was able to get my order in and waited no more than 8 minutes for food to arrive at the table. It was very delicious and enough food to where you did feel you were getting ripped off by price. Highly recommend if in area. Plus, it's a military discount on food. I now have lunch for the hotel and possibly dinner. I got the order of pancakes plus bacon and omelet monsoon. Total price 30 bucks...
