I am going to preference this by saying I LOVE LIFETIME!. It deserves 5 stars for sure, and it pains me to give it a 3. Its a great facility, very clean, with a great crew all around. Extremely welcoming from the front desk to the people I have had the pleasure to work out with. While I work in Princeton (literally crawling distance to the club there) I prefer to wait until I am closer to home in Bridgewater because the club is that much better. I am a group training person and love my GTX/Ultra Fit classes, however, since they have changed all memberships to Signature status the GTX space is now too small to accommodate what they are deeming to be an acceptable number of class attendees. I would like to know why a large number of existing memberships have been upgraded to a membership that they always could have paid additionally for and are now getting that upgrade for free which indirectly has caused this to happen?? It is not as if those members did not have the option to choose the upgrade in the first place.
At any given time, at least 1 treadmill is inoperable (at one point it was 3 for several days with no adjustments in the registration number). They say that 20-24 people is the upper limit. I have seen various numbers for classes They have 12 treadmills and 2 steppers in the space which is too tight when you then add an additional 12+ people on the floor. It was very manageable prior to the membership changes. When you have a full class and treadmills/steppers are inoperable, and nothing is done to adjust the numbers based on what equipment you have available, it only contributes to the chaos of classes changing, people fighting for space and then angering folks who legitimately signed up for class and showed up on time, only to be told that there is no room for them or to take a treadmill close to the class space on the general floor, IF it is available. I will say that having people on top of me while I am using weights or other equipment does not create a feeling that I am working out in a safe environment. At a recent GTX class the treadmill group had to get off their treadmills throughout their Block to complete squat jumps and another exercise requiring weights in back of the treadmills where there is equipment stored. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN because of space issues.
I am unsure why the decision was made to push everyone to a Signature membership (when I signed up over the summer, I was not given the choice of membership types but I knew that upfront), but, the work out experience in at least the GTX realm has become very crowded and chaotic and even dangerous at times because of lack of space on the floor, when you add in the weights and other apparatus's used during a class. I am not an architect, but, they "expanded" the space over the summer and have now seriously outgrown it (did they take into account that they would increase the number of people taking class by upgrading everyone for free, I doubt it!) The only remedy is to reduce the numbers in the class so people can work out more productively and most of all safely as adding another class in the evening probably won't change the numbers because most people usually come directly from work. I know it is the same in the morning. It was also mentioned that one of the "managers" likes to have the classes crowded (easy to say since she is not taking the class) but this is becoming a constant topic among GTX members (very sad)
I am happy to see that they are going to the 3 strikes class rule for those who no show but that does not alleviate the overall problem of having way too many people in a class and lets see if it is...
Read moreFirst, I want to start by saying how ridiculous half of the reviewers here are. The gym officially opened up July 11th. How do you review something that didn't even open?
To all those who say its "over priced". Have you thought about looking at it this way?
If you EVER spend close to 100+ dollars going out drinking, partying or socializing for a night, let alone a whole month, whatever it may be. You could've had this membership. SIMPLE as that. Your health should be a priority and people will always pay for comfort in their lives. You don't hear people in first class complaining about how expensive it is. Some people distress by going-out, others may distress by going to a nice gym. To each their own, no?
And yes, of course they're going to up the price of a 'Founding Membership' as the opening date closes in. It's a business at the end of the day, not a charity or community center. It's not a trap when you know about the prices or have something called common sense. Stop playing victim here. You don't have to pay a 'lifetime' because its a month-to-month, non-commitment contract. No one has a gun to your head forcing you to stay or sign up. Stop being so dramatic. Move along now. People here are actually trying to enjoy their lives. âđźď¸
This isn't planet fitness. If you want free pizza at your gym go there. Their culture will more so fit your style of life. I enjoy free things like the next person. Hell, my motto is: If it's free; its me for god sake, but not free pizza at my gym where I'm currently trying to burn those calories. And between me and you? Their pizza sucks.
That being said, this place is hands down GORGEOUS. It's the newest built, so you will probably have an adjustment period of errors here and there (such as the power outage early afternoon of July 12th, 2019), but when it's up and running - you can't help, but give credit where credit is due. Luckily, I had the opportunity to go before that entire fiasco around 4 AM and It was well worth the wait.
This review is obviously subject to change due to It still being early to tell if this gym will hold its merit, but for now It remains how I see it. I call a spade a spade.
At least this is the only review that comes in after the place has actually been opened.
I hope this helps. I'll keep you posted as the...
Read moreResponse to owner - Mr. Duffy - Your response insinuates that I was offered a small wait time for a tour. I was not even offered that. We asked for a map and Nicolas told us there wasnât one - no offer of tour made and no wait time given. Your response also insinuates that I was clear that an appointment was preferred - again, something I would have gladly agreed to, but was not offered. Lastly, the onus is not on me, the customer, to reach out to you to schedule a tour or onboarding. My review obviously reflects that it is something I needed. In fact, Iâm currently trying to book classes on the app but cannot and I have no idea why because nothing about my membership was explained to me. You have my email address and phone number and the correct method of repair was to reach out to me to correct this.
Original post - I visited Life Time in Bridgewater on 7.17 to set up my membership. I started the process via PeerFit because my employer pays a part of the gym fees for me. I walked in with my partner and asked to set up my membership. I received confused looks from those at the front desk and was told to wait a moment. Nicolas returned and started the process to set me up. He explained I could not add my partner to my account even though PeerFit told me it would be possible. Nonetheless, I was interested in the membership and proceeded. When I was done signing waivers, Nicolas sent my boyfriend and I on our way to explore the gym on our own. We were never offered a tour of the facilities. I was never explained what my membership included. Nothing at all. In fact, a gentleman next to me that had just set up his membership was given a tour by Nicolasâ front desk partner. She even saw us giving ourselves the tour alone and didnât even offer to have us join her tour and didnât even suggest that she would provide us a tour once she was done. Throughout my time there, I saw more people getting tours. We were left to figure things on our own. I donât know if they perceived that I deserved less because my membership was through an employer. The behavior was distasteful and unprofessional.
The facilities are phenomenal and I do not have any negative...
