First, we checked in and the first room we were assigned had dirty dishes in the dishwasher and the dishwasher did not work. The hotel staff immediately fixed the situation and moved us to a new room. It was the same type of room. We were not upgraded, which would have been a nice gesture, but was not something we expected. We thought it would be ok from there, but things just got worse. This hotel is very new, but is so poorly constructed. The new room we were put in had a connecting door to an adjacent room. The rubber around that door was falling off and to lock the deadbolt you had to physically lift up the door to get the deadbolt to lock. You can hear all noise in an adjacent room, which did wake us up one morning. The drawers to put our clothes in would not stay closed. We had to wedge clothes on the top of the drawers for them to stay closed. The center piece under the sink would lift up and I don't think it was supposed to. Also, the kitchen cupboards had dust from the construction all over them, so I wiped down all the cupboards and re-washed all of the dishes before using them. Then came to the housekeeping. This is probably the most unorganized hotel I have ever stayed in. Since covid now most hotels require you to call for housekeeping, which we were expecting. On check in, housekeeping was not discussed at all. Some hotels give you a piece of paper with details of what to know about the hotel, but they did not discuss at check in or hand a paper to us. We stayed at the hotel for 6 nights. On day 3 I called and requested housekeeping and we put our towels on the ground to be replaced. We came home at 9pm from the beach tired and wanted to shower. Our room had not been touched. The bed wasn't made and towels were on the floor, but somehow the temperature in our room was raised 10 degrees from when we left. We called the front desk for towels, toiletries, and toilet paper. I also asked for them to send housekeeping the next day. It took about 20 minutes and we did not get toilet paper. The next day we left our towels hanging up just in case housekeeping didn't come. Again, we came home at around 9pm from the beach and wanted to shower. This time housekeeping came and made the bed and took all of our towels, but did not replace anything. Again, I had to call the front desk. I had to call 4 times before getting an answer because the front desk staff was outside smoking. This led us not to ask for housekeeping again our entire trip and ended up using tissues as toilet paper the last day because we were so fed up and just didn't want to call again. Now, breakfast is pretty good, but the hot breakfast does not change at all, so it did get quite old after 6 days of eating it. Scrambled eggs, sausage patties, biscuits, and spinach quiche is the hot breakfast. The do have a few cereal options, oatmeal, Jimmy dean sandwiches, hard boiled eggs, waffles, bread, yogurt, apples, bananas, and assorted pastry items that do change on occasion. They only had bagels one day and they did not have English muffins ever. They did not have cream cheese. Last bad thing, they did try to charge us over $100 more than the amount we had purchased through Priceline, so we had to go back after checkout to get it fixed. We did not have any pets. Good things about the hotel are that the bed was comfortable, the AC is cold, the shower was nice with good water pressure, and the staff was always pleasant. Overall I would stay here if you were staying 1-2 nights and did not need housekeeping, but not long term until they get much...
Read moreWe chose this hotel for an overnight stay while we were en route to Florida due to the good reviews and being pet friendly. Traveling was myself, husband, and 3 young children as well as our service dog. Yes, the room was very clean which was great however, barely a half hour since arriving we got a knock on the door from the front desk asking if everything was okay because the ppl downstairs complained of noise. I explained we had just checked in and were moving our luggage up and getting our kids into pajamas. I told him my 7 year old and 4 year old were excited upon arriving and ran through the room but were now in bed and He left and I sat to watch tv while my husband prepared to shower. We then got a phone call from the front desk saying we needed to realize how thin their walls were at the hotel. She then said we were being so noisy and inconsiderate of the gentleman below us who needed to wake up early that he threatened to call the police and that they wouldn’t stop him. I was flabbergasted! I explained we had checked in at 10:00pm (at this point it was 11:20pm) after a looong drive we had been in the room barely an hour and obviously had to move in our luggage, and settle up our kids who by the way at this point had been in bed ASLEEP since the front desk knocked on our door. The only person walking was my husband who was about to shower. They were extremely rude. We spent the rest of the night so uncomfortable to even make a little sound that we skipped showering and were literally afraid to walk without tip toeing in fear that the hotel would contact the police on behalf of this other guest and scare my kids half to death! My 12 year old kept whispering because she was worried talking normal would cause them to complain again. We have traveled many times never once has a hotel complained to us. We are very respectful of other guests and our noise level etc. To top it off the room was uncomfortably cold. Definitely NOT a restful...
Read moreIf you are looking for a nice brand new hotel 🏨 not far from St. Simon's Beach or Jekyll Island this it and you won't break the bank. I had the pleasure of staying here when it had only been open for four days. Talking about nice it was and everything done to perfection. The front desk staff were very friendly, personable, helpful, and took care of all the needs going above/beyond. I love staying at Residence Inn by Marriott every chance I get because it is more like an apartment or home to me. Lots more space to stretch out with a full kitchen to cook if you choose. When I first pulled up to the hotel I could tell this was going to be a good stay by how emaculate the property was from the outside not even going in yet. I parked out front and walked in just looking around at all the modern chic decor everywhere. I loved it. 😍 Walking in I immediately saw slightly to my right ahead a gas fireplace lit giving the atmosphere of the comfy modern appeal. The young African American man greeted me with a warm hearted welcome and checked me in. I asked for a quiet place away from everyone and it was very nice/quiet for my stay. After looking looking around at the lobby, breakfast Area, gym, laundry room, and pool I headed to the room. As I got out of the evaluator I liked the picture on the wall check it out in the many pics I took. As I opened the door to my room I could smell everything had the new smell and everything was spotless. The floors, furniture, kitchen, bathroom, beds with spotlessly clean. I highly recommend this hotel and location because you have many great restaurants around a Sam's club to get cheap gas ⛽ and your not but 8.8 miles from the beach. I paid 160 a night compared to double to triple that closer to the beach ⛱. I loved this small island but plenty to do with less crowded. Tell them I sent you and follow me as I travel around this...
