I was hoping to get some much-needed rest and quiet time to myself by booking a nearby hotel. Unfortunately, this location did not meet those expectations.
I appreciate how easy it was to book a room for one night at the last minute. However, the stay itself was disappointing. The noise level was the biggest issue: the walls seemed very thin, and I could clearly hear traffic from the interstate, slamming doors throughout the hallway, and loud children playing right outside my room. In contrast, the hotel next door where I have previously stayed offered a much more peaceful environment—I was able to sleep undisturbed there.
The front lobby had plenty of seating, which was nice, but customer service was lacking. Each time I approached the front desk, I had to wait several minutes before being acknowledged, even though two employees were outside using their personal phones.
On a more positive note, the bathroom in my room was very clean. Housekeeping clearly did a thorough job there. However, I did find a sticky residue covering the nightstand, which took away from the otherwise clean impression.
This hotel also fell short in terms of amenities. The room came with just a mini fridge, while the neighboring hotel offered a fridge, microwave, and coffee machine. For just $60 more, that hotel also provided access to a gym and a pool, making it a much better overall value.
In conclusion, I would not choose to stay here again. This is due to the noise levels, limited amenities, and...
Read moreSpark by Hilton in Calhoun, Georgia is a newly renovated hotel in a great location right off of the Interstate. It is located in a safe area near other nice hotels, gas stations, and food options. Ruby Tuesday Restaurant gives you 10% off if you show your room keycard.||||This is a fantastic place to stay if you are like me, someone who doesn’t want to spend a fortune for a pool, etc., while traveling but is a clean freak about hotel rooms.||||Our hotel room had no carpeting so the floor was very clean. The beds were extremely comfortable with plenty of pillows and fresh clean, odorless linen. The mattress was encased with a waterproof (and bedbug proof) mattress protector. The room was not cluttered with a bunch of furniture. Huge flatscreen TV. Quiet AC/heater. Bathroom had new Hilton brand towels, plenty of toiletries by the sink and in the tub/shower. Nice new Kohler brand toilet, incredible water pressure and hot water in the shower. Again, spotless and odorless throughout the room. ||||Breakfast area was clean and available but we didn’t eat anything. It offered coffee, juice, bagels, cereal, and more. Pleasant lady to replenish and keep seating area clean.||||Overall, Spark in Calhoun is an incredible value and 10 out of 10 in my opinion. I couldn’t ask for anything better...
Read moreThe room was clean. The air wasn't turned on when we got there and it was very hot but quickly cooled down. The mini fridge didn't work, and the toilet didn't flush. We got in late, and my daughters were asleep, so we didn't know the toilet didn't flush until the morning when my husband got up to use it. He threw on clothes and went to the front desk and the manager just stared at him. The manager never apologized and didn't offer to send someone up to look at it. My daughters and I used the public restroom in the lobby. When I checked out, the manager asked how my stay was and I mentioned the above things, and he just said "oh, that was your room." Dude...an apology goes a LONG way. We know it wasn't his fault, but saying sorry would have been good. I'm also surprised...do they not check rooms before people stay in them? Seems like making sure the AC is on, has a working fridge, and toilets flush would be basic things to check before you give someone a room. I wouldn't...
