My husband and I spent Labor Day weekend at the Lokal Hotel and will definitely return. The hotel is like no other place to stay in Cape May. I've stayed at some of the old Victorian inns, rented a full house during COVID, and splurged on Congress Hall in the past. Going forward, this will be our go-to place to stay in Cape May. The owner has really thought through every need and incorporated it in the design and amenities in the rooms. We were in Room 201 which is a studio. We loved the quality of the bed linens and robes (I'll be buying some for our own home!). The coffee that you can make in your room is some of the best I've tasted. I'm very picky about liking light cream (not half and half) in my coffee. Usually when I travel, I know I'm not going to get what I have at home, but low and behold, we arrived the first day to find light cream in the fridge waiting for us! I knew then that I was in love. The location can't be beat. The beach is steps away. Beach service is provided, so all you need to bring is a book and sunscreen. If you don't want to be at the beach, the pool is nice and relaxing. There were other guests using the pool with their children when we were there. Everyone was very friendly and considerate. Some nice touches: the toilet is in its own room, the shower turns on at the far end of the shower so you don't get wet turning it on, they provide a Yeti cooler and tumblers for the pool/beach, the tv has Netflix provided. Just in our studio there were four different places for us to sit. I was nervous about the fact that there is no front desk. We have had bad experiences with such a set up in the past. Here is was no problem. Your room has everything you need, and there are additional supplies in the foyer. I don't need a house keeper changing my sheets and towels every day, so preferred the privacy we enjoyed rather than having someone coming into our room every day to clean. Honestly, I wouldn't...
Read moreI don’t have words for how incredible our stay was at Lokal.
We come to Cape May every year or two and have wondered for awhile about that one, vibrant building by the beach.
This trip, we decided to pull the trigger and stay here, after having stayed at beach view hotels every trip prior.
I think I’d gotten in my head previously about needing to see the beach while we were in Cape May, but I always left feeling a little bit disappointed that every other stay had me 😍 over the place but 😕 over the hotels we’ve stayed in.
Lokal was perfect.
There’s not really another way to describe it.
The location was insane. Walking distance to the Washington Street Mall and all of our favorite restaurants and literally steps from the beach.
When you’re not out exploring, it’s an oasis. The room was so comfortable - from the couch and dining area by day to the beds at night, there was no spot in that hotel room where we didn’t feel completely at home. My toddler even asked why our house doesn’t look like “our vacation house” 😂.
We cooked meals in the well-stocked kitchen; ate dinners on the deck, enjoying the breeze; and splashed in the pool with our little girls (3 years and 9 months, respectively). We washed laundry, watched shows, went for walks. We felt like we lived in Cape May, and we loved it.
Everything was so beautiful, but I appreciated most how practical it was, and how attentive the Lokal team has been to making their guests have comfortable stays.
We felt completely at home, as did our kids.
There is something very special about Cape May, and there is something very special about Lokal.
If you’re wondering where to stay next time you’re in Cape May, do yourself a favor and book here. We won’t stay anywhere else for our future Cape May trips.
Thank you, Lokal team, for an...
Read more|Last minute planning to Cape May before Labor Day with parents - driving distance was the only factor in choosing the destination and a hope to have a view of the ocean from their room which the virtual staff at Lokal confirmed by email. The “ocean view” was a sliver of something blue that was visible from the far left side of the “private” (5” from neighboring hotel with direct view into hotel rooms) patio on tippie toes and, as per the email reply when I complained this wasn’t an ocean view room, “best seen during the day.” The staff person later told me (nonrefundable 3k booking later) that she works in the Philly office and had never seen this property!||But the worst was the 24/7 whirling noise audible from the second bedroom of room 202 that makes you feel like you’re inside the spin cycle of a washing machine - all night long. And it is beyond comprehension how this is the “first time” the management has heard of the issue. How is that possible when the maintenance person says it’s the HVAC? That and the paper-thin walls have made this the worst sleepless stay. All I can say is how grateful I was that our stay was only two non-refundable nights.||This is a virtual management property- no staff onsite but that wasn’t an initial concern. To their credit, responses are prompt but they clearly don’t speak to one another as emails go to one place and texts to another. By email I was told we’d have an extension to noon for checkout but told by text that late check out would be 11:30AM. The next day (our check out day) I received an early morning text that checkout was 11am. Given the fact that we hadn’t slept, we left at 9am....
