Carmel Bay Company — Local services in Carmel-by-the-Sea

There are cute things in this store, but the women who run the store followed myself and my 2 friends around the store. We are 30 year old women vacationing in Carmel and don't appreciate openly being chased around a store. We were in one of the upstairs rooms browsing and one of the women who works there ran up stairs and just stood awkwardly in the room just staring us down. Not stocking shelves, not taking inventory, just blatantly doing nothing but staring us down while standing there compulsively re-creasing a paper that she was holding. My friends and I were so appalled about the way that we were treated that we decided not to purchase anything from these women. A note for the store, if you want to follow people around the store and watch them while they browse at least pretend that you are working. Stock shelves, re-fold clothing, do something instead of just standing and basically accuse three would be customers of stealing by your body language. Terrible way to...

UPDATE: 7.24.22 We always love to shop here when visiting Carmel. They always have unique "finds" and treasures. From books to pet goodies to unique kitchen utensils on the first floor and clothing, books and other goodies on the second floor, they have a unique selection of goods.
