Coral by the sea is what I would describe as prison chic. Its the perfect place to stay if you're transitioning out of homelessness or if you're a criminal looking for easy access to your next victim. ||||The hotel is truly a sight to behold! So many surprises I'm not sure I can capture them all, but for you, I'll try. It as charming as a New York City subway station and about as clean. It gives New Orleans 9th ward post Katrina vibes (iykyk). ||||Marvel at the black mold artfully decorating the water stained ceiling tiles and shower curtain. You're sure to be amazed by the bed sheets and towles stained with (at least 3) different bodily fluids. Blankets also feature unusual smells and crusty splotches for...late night exfoliation? ||||Some hotels leave chocolate on your pillow. This hotel leaves blood stains. And used qtips on the windowsil. There's also a light dusting of what I can only assume is residual drugs on your "vanity table", for those of you looking for a wild night. And speaking of pillows, these ones are about as soft and fluffy as an emaciated hairless cat. Airline pillows are luxurious in comparison, but do they come pre-stamped with a full face of makeup so there's no need to apply when you wake up!? I think not. And that's where Coral has the airlines beat! ||||As for the beds, I'm sure you can imagine the (dis) comfort, but suffice it to say that I've had better sleep on airport floors... and in the future, that's where I'll opt. We had an early flight and not only was this was a cheap option in a great location, but it also turned out to be a priceless lesson in frugality. ||||Lost your key card? Don't worry! One good shoulder check and your door will fly right open. No deadbolts or locks on the doors makes for convenient and easy access any time of day or night. In a rush? They've got you covered with elevators that start moving before the door finishes closing. Just be sure to watch your step because the elevator doesn't always get you level with the ground. ||||I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the incredible front desk staff who seem just as unhappy to be there as you are. Sure it takes 30mins to check in because only one person works while others sit around stairing at their phones. But once you get checked in, you'll realize they were really doing you a favor by allowing you to enjoy as much time as possible before you realize the hell that you just signed up for. Check in is not until 3pm (and thank God for that) but they will hold your luggage in a room marked "Staff Only" that any rando off the street can easily access without so much as a second look from staff. ||||We stayed here one night. 12 hours and 23 minutes to be exact. I did survive the lumpy mattress, constant airplane noise and one temp all or nothing air conditioning. No one kicked in our door, thankfully. There was a bed, toilet and shower and I guess I'm thankful for that too. But my husband is no longer allowed to choose our hotels and if you're still reading this and considering other options, I've put together a short list of places I'd rather stay next time which include: the Bates motel, a sandcastle on the beach, a bench in central park and the fcck at home. ||||Its obvious that Maria did a number on this place and no one has bothered to repair anything, including the smoke detectors. All in all, this is a great hotel to recommend to...
Read moreAfter 11 years without seeing my family, I decided to stay at this hotel ("Coral By The Sea") and bring my partner so that I could get to know my hometown, and I never thought to go through the WORST SHAME that could have happened, firstly the boys from the parking lot received me, telling me that they DO NOT HAVE PARKING, and after 1 hour of waiting, they tell me that if I use their parking they DO NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE TO THE CAR, even though I had to pay for it, After checking in, I paid for a QUEEN SIZE room, and they gave me a room with the FULL SIZE bed, when I complained to the front desk, they told me that the full size bed is the queen for them, when it is a lie , because everyone in Puerto Rico, we know the sizes, after that, the girl who took care of me, told me that she can not do anything because she was supposedly sold at capacity, at that moment there were 3 more people who went down for the same problems among others , after that, when I undressed the bed it was dirty, the pillow has blood, the room is not as it appears in the picture, the bathroom is super uncomfortable, there was no hot water, too much noise in the hall, call to ask for a hair dryer and if I had an extra mattress, since I was given a small bed, and they measured that they do not know what that is, because there never was before and what was worse, the room with cockroaches, when after 4 hours discussing this, another boy who just nered his shift, I change from a room to a double (2 bed) and I charged $ 10 more, per day in total $ 30.00, when I changed the other room was full of water on the floor, and just before, I had reported that there was a lot of water in the hall coming out of a room, and just the guest told me the same, that the room was full of water, the bathroom was worse, dirty and super small, that you could do the bath and wash your mouth at the same time, as small as it is, and the shower let's say It was really the worst, I made a claim, and demanded to speak with the manager of the hotel, and the employee notified me that she did not answer, even though it was an emergency, and I only answered that it was not her problem, That was from the housekeeping. I am a Manager of Hospitality Operations, I manage 13 Hotels in the USA, and I know how this is handled, it is supposed, that by policy, they give me back all the money, however they charged me for one more night, but they did not return me the additional. I really do not recommend it at all, it is preferable to pay a little more in...
Read moreAs we all know a vacation starts at sooner you enter the hotel. Let me tell you about Coral of the sea hotel. Firtstaval the hotel name should be HOTEL COACKROACH. The lobby is dark and stingy. The staff doesn't seem invested in making you feel welcome, only one cleaning lady was very sensitive and apologized for the cockroache in our room and removed it after I told her that I have to killed it myself because my grand kids and my daughter who has severe allergies where screaming and crying and there was no phone in the room to call the front desk for assistance. The room didn't have at least a dresser to put your things and the shelves where dirty. No hangers available for your delicate items, the AC stopped working and you can see the ceiling tiles and vents about to fall off. We can hear water dripping between the wall all night. The bathroom smelled like raw sewage and was discusting and didn't have space to put anything, no remote for the TV, no fridge in our room. Three different staffing wrote the request for one and we never got one. The bathroom was so small that everything looked like it was made for tiny people, small pedestal sink, the tiny toilet hardly flushed and you can see mold on the tiles grout and we hardly have hot water and one day cold water only. No outlets in the bathroom to plugged you hair dryer either. I have to said, The border of health department should condemned this hotel until the administration bring it up to code. There's no privacy at all. We could even have a good night sleep or sleep late because the wall are so thin that we have to listen to next door guess talking until 1:45am. Washer and dryer also rusted and dirty. I have seen better on the street on trash day. The ice machine was locked and most of the time without ice. One staff member told" YOO CAN GO AND GET ICE FROM NEXT DOOR HOTEL.OMG That was the ultimate insult🤬 the only positive thing was the location that was walking distance to the beach because the hotel also charges $7.00 a day per parking. Again don't go to that hotel because you will be on this page writing the same or worse review, Spend a few extra dollars for a decent place unless you wanted to expirience how it feels sleeping with cockroaches and mold. A message for the hotel administration and staff; SHAME ON...
