Unimpressed. Our hotel recommended this place as did an acquaintance. Fairly expensive for ok food and terrible service. It was busy on a Friday night and very loud. We were at a small table and were shouting to talk; the waitress could barely hear us. Our waitress seemed uninterested in serving us. She did the bare minimum and we ran out of drinks halfway through eating our meals. We started with pina coladas and then some water. She also didn't bring my salad until after the meal and I had to request it; she wasn't going to bring it. When it came it was laughable; some iceburg lettuce on a tiny plate with 3 tomato slices. That's it. No dressing. I hope that's not the real house salad and our waitress was just being weird.
I had to ask a different server for water and they brought us refills after that. Didn't see our server again until she brought the card reader over to pay. She set it up and instead of allowing us to touch the screen and select our tip amount, she asked what we wanted to put and entered it. Like she was trying to pressure us into tipping higher or something. All other places had the same kind of card reader and always turned the screen away from their view or set it on the table and looked away for a moment to let you select the tip and sign. It was weird and offputting.
The food was ok. I got chicken milanese which was a pile of mozzarella on top of a fried chicken breast. It was tasty. My side was white rice. There was no sauce for either, so it was all kind of dry and running out of water partway through was not ideal. My friend got chicken with mofongo in garlic sauce; holy garlic, they weren't kidding. The mofongo was tasty. The chicken did not look appetizing; reminded me of the stir fry chicken in Chinese food, little rubbery flat chunks; it...
Read moreI’m writing this review out of spite because thanks to this experience, i genuinely cannot eat at ANY metropol. So it was the evening of April 9, 2015 and I was in second grade. I was staying in the nearby hotel Verdanza since I used to celebrate my birthdays there. Anyways, it was the night before my birthday and my parents decided to celebrate my birthday early by dining here. I ordered rice and chicken. I still remember the disgusting taste of that chicken. I don’t know why but it felt off, so, as a soon to be 8 year old, I didn’t eat much, and just sipped on my juice as I waited my parents to finish dining so we could look at the turtles. Anyways, after we leave, we head back to the hotel to set up for the next day. At around midnight, I awoke with a horrible stomachache which caused me to empty my stomach all over the floor. I proceeded to do that more than 6 times in the span of 20 minutes. Since it was my birthday, and being a kid with a weak immune system, my mom wanted to bring me to the hospital but since we had spent thousands of dollars for my birthday, she just called her friend who was my doctor at the time and he came. Since I was really ill and I couldn’t hold down ANYTHING, not even pedialyte, he ordered us to go to the hospital. And what do you know? I had salmonella. Thankfully, it didn’t affect me much other than the fact I couldn’t enjoy my frozen themed birthday because I was extremely ill. No one else in my family got ill because they all ordered steak. I was the only one who ordered chicken. 9 years later, I CANNOT go to any restaurant if this chain because I WILL have a panic attack. It is safe to say I was left extremely traumatized by this experience. 0/10 do not recommend....
Read moreI recently had the unfortunate experience of dining at Metropol Isla Verde, and I must say, it was a complete disgrace. The first red flag was the undercooked rice that accompanied my meal. It was not only unpleasantly crunchy, but also lacked any flavor whatsoever. It was clear that the rice had been frozen and then hastily heated, resulting in a disappointing and unappetizing side dish.
To make matters worse, the palomilla steak I ordered arrived at my table cold. It was evident that the dish had been sitting out for quite some time before being served to me. The meat was tough and lacked any juiciness or tenderness that one would expect from a steak. It was a complete disappointment and left me questioning the quality of the ingredients and the skill of the kitchen staff.
But the most egregious offense was the garlic bread that was served to me. When I brought it to the attention of the waiter, he assured me that he would have it replaced. However, when it returned to my table, it was clear that it had simply been thrown into a microwave. The bread was hard as a rock, completely devoid of any freshness or flavor. It was a sad excuse for garlic bread and left me questioning the competence of the kitchen staff.
Overall, my experience at Metropol Isla Verde was nothing short of a complete disgrace. The frozen garlic bread, undercooked rice, and cold palomilla steak were all indicative of a lack of attention to detail and a disregard for quality. To add insult to injury, the bill came out to a whopping $70, making this experience an expensive disappointment. I would strongly advise against dining at this establishment if you value a satisfying and...
