We recently purchased a TEMPUR-Ergo Adjustable Base, and compatible Twin XL Prime mattress ensemble, from the MattressFIRM Cary store #013007. The Sleep Expert who assisted us is named Davone. Davone is indeed an E..X..P..E..R..T in the field of bedding comfort, function, and customer satisfaction. Our visit was the first, of which I suspected would be at least several stops, to find a replacement for a rather aged bedding ensemble. Davone, with his remarkably extensive knowledge of bedding ensembles AND customer desires, made our visit our first and last. From virtually the moment we met Davone, it was clear we were going to have a pleasant and productive visit. He has a pleasing demeanor, is well spoken, and his knowledge of bedding and accessories is unparalleled. We must have tried half a dozen mixes of bases and mattress options with different capabilities, softness, and remotes. But, it was not that Davone had just “mastered” the use of a few remotes. He has an acute talent for being able to perceive fine details and differences in options. This was initially displayed when he adjusted the settings on our first “test” bedding. He made fine adjustments of leg, head, and lumbar settings so it felt “perfect” before I said a “fine tuning” word. Davone was, without exception, pleasant with in depth knowledge of comfort factors through-out the entire visit ….. and his transition to the “financial details” was beautifully finessed. We chatted a bit about details, and once again Davone’s talents were displayed in flying colors. He presented a detailed summary of all charges and expenses quickly and in easy to comprehend format. Interestingly, I asked about a detail of remote settings when all was “done”. We were ready to sign and head home ….. but Davone did not shrug off the detail and let it “ride” (e.g. I’ve made the sale, “good enough”). He was careful to listen to the fullest detail of the question and responded with details sufficient to alert us to the fact that we had made a mistake. We then went back to test some detailed settings on multiple ensembles …. The results were that WE (my wife and I) had clearly made an error and much preferred a different selection. Davone was quick, without a hint of any “inconvenience”, to come back with a modified financial details summary that was even more attractive than I had anticipated. We immediately “had a deal” !!!!! Read moreWe purchased a Serta iSeries Hybrid 2000 from Mattress Firm, and were initially pleased with our purchase. Unfortunately, the king mattress developed a dip roughly a year after purchase. Mattress Firm approved a warranty claim, and we wanted to go back to a traditional spring mattress. In returning to Mattress Firm in Cary, Davone Whitehead was courteous and helpful. He knew his products, was not pushy, and encouraged us to try different mattresses. He wanted us to spend time in different positions in narrowing choices. We ended up purchasing 3 mattress sets where Davone worked out a deal for delivery, bed frames, and sheets. In the delivery of 2 mattress sets, the delivery team did not complete the install as we expected. On a queen frame, they did not install a center brace. The team also did not setup a new king frame as expected in reusing the “old frame” that was roughly 1 year old. Their ‘excuse’ was it was not in their order, and they had to go by their order. In contacting Davone, he made things right – another team came out to haul away the old box mattress, and ensure correct installation. A different delivery team installed the 3rd mattress set, asked us questions related to location and setting the height, and if we were satisfied with their install. Davone also called to make sure that everything was taken care of to our satisfaction. They don't actually have the beds in stock, so you have to wait for delivery anyways, also the "deals" that they have in store are more expensive than the online prices daily. We paid 50% off for a bed, only to look it up online later and see that the same bed from mattress firm online was cheaper than the discounted price at the store AND would have the same delivery window.
Will order from Amazon next time. We wanted to be able to actually feel what the bed would be like, but ultimately I wish we had just ordered online. It would've been cheaper, arrived at the same time, and wouldn't have had to deal with the delivery folk who didn't want to come up to our apartment (they parked on the street and wanted us to carry everything from the road to our apartment). The customer service was good but the small benefit of getting to see what we were buying ultimately wasn't worth it, especially with the return policy. On Amazon, if something is wrong or you don't like the bed, you return it and they send you another, give you a credit, or allow you to replace with a different brand. Here, it's $100 cleaning fee and 20% restocking fee if for any reason you don't like what's delivered. The frames are way overpriced and again, not in stock. There's no benefit to going in store,...
