I stopped in for Saturday afternoon brunch, which is an odd concept for me. I have been to this location through a bunch of owners, going back to 1992. The current people have it set up well, very clean and well lit. I got the Classic Benedict and a side of eggs. The Benedict part was great, with the caveat that the English muffins were difficult to cut. It came with homefries that had more spice than I like, but only a tiny bit. The side of eggs was served sunny side up, though I had ordered over medium. They were still good. I spoke with the bartender, who was also the one who took the order at the table, and it sounded like an honest mistake from not hearing me correctly. I had a few mimosas and belinis, added another standalone side of bacon and an order of fried Oreos. The drinks were perfect. The bacon was crispy. Different cheesesteak #1106 in the last five years. Every once in a while God reminds me I am her favorite. Home Base has gourmet grilled cheeses and a cheesesteak wrap. I asked if they would make me a grilled cheesesteak ( I used my magic words, please and thank you). They said Yes to the Grilled Cheesesteak!! It was a marriage made in Heaven!! Toasted sourdough bread had the correct amount of thickness and toasting. Provolone cheese added a good amount of hardiness. Good amount of tender meat. The onions and peppers added great flavor. Nothing but glorious things to say about this place. I go to the law school next door and for the last couple of years, Home Base has been our haven, sanctuary, excitement, party, drink-our-sorrows-space, and celebration space. You can watch live games, play your own games, sing songs, win trivia, dance, eat, or sit back and relax. The food is excellent, the drink variety is off the charts, and the staff - who I’ve forced to be my best friends - are always so kind.
