I rarely review retail stores but I had the opportunity to be taken care of by Tameka today in the West Ashley Michael's. I called the store ahead of time to confirm inventory of an item as I would have to drive a bit longer than desired and was told there were 2 in stock. Not sure who I spoke to but they were pleasant enough. When I arrived, I headed to the canvas aisle. The size I needed wasn't there so I figured they may have brought them to the front. I encountered a staff member who had actually just ended her shift (she didn't tell me that but I assumed because she had a basket of stuff that I thought she was buying) so I apologized for requesting assistance after her shift. She was so genuinely kind and gracious, turns out she was just finishing a display with the items in the basket and wondered how I knew her shift had ended. She called on her earpiece to ask who had spoken to me on the phone and I guess whoever I spoke to told her that I was told there weren't any of that size left. I was heartbroken and a bit upset, but after 15 years in customer service, I understand communication breakdowns so I told Tameka not to worry about it. She saw my disappointment and immediately asked if I could hold on for a moment while she did a little investigation. She headed to the back while I waited and returned after a bit with the canvases and a huge smile. I understand how long this review is, but like I said...15 years in customer service makes you highly aware when a business has someone special and worth every penny of their salary. My degree is in human resources with a certification in leadership development. Tameka's personality was unique, genuine and truly kind. She made my day and I hope she knows her worth there. Thank you Michael's, for hiring...
Read moreThis michaels location is SO much more friendlier, neater, knows their stuff .vs. The North Charleston michaels who just seem to 'hate' working their job & really show it when you check out or ask a simple question on The floor. Hoping to move to the area soon, it will be nice going to this michaels as often as I need to. I know retail isn't that great everywhere but everyone feels better shopping in a place where you don't feel like a bother.
Although it kind of stinks when it comes to some of the coupon rules. Just yesterday I wanted to use a 55% coupon from a.c. moore @ the michaels in the North area. And I get that y'all have to have a date & all but...it's 5% more than a 50%..
Would have been nice if I was just given it just Once since I really don't shop in Michaels all that often, and y'all have scanned a 55% coupon from competitors because you look at it, & scan from your list of coupon sheets or whatever it is that you do (have seen it) behind the counter. There's a difference between actual coupons & a sheet, and I've seen a cashier look at mine & between their michaels coupons & given me a 55% off. Date or not.. There's a 55% coupon that's Always on A.C Moore's app & doesn't have a date. Its just there when you sign up. Don't hate michaels though. Just really dread going to the north one because it's customer service really just sucks so bad. So I avoid it as much...
Read moreAttention to the 5 Star Google Review Citation,
On 25 Feb 2020, at around 8:35pm, veteran Michaels cashier Makayla was solely manning the cash register. It was a routine evening like many others until a handsome gentleman arrived from the south side of the store with art supplies in hand. Makayla recognized the urgency of the situation and calmly began to operate the cash register in order to check out said handsome gentleman. Suddenly, a loud noise rang out and once the fog of retail had cleared Makayla realized that the cash register had malfunctioned. Rather than panic, Makayla expertly employed immediate actions and called for reinforcements. Makayla singlehandedly held her post against all odds until reinforcements arrived. Makayla calmly explained the situation and helped reinforcing personnel to correct the situation and successfully check out the gentleman, who remained quite handsome and charming throughout the ordeal. Through her gallant actions and nerves of steel, Makayla saved countless minutes of everyone's time.
For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity above and beyond the call of retail, I hereby award Makayla and...
