The only thing this Hilton property has going for it is the location.
We decided to book another night so we could get in early and have a good nights rest before we went to help our daughter move out of her dorm. Checked in around 10pm, requested some physical keys but the front desk kept mentioning I have digital key. I know that, but my wife and kids would need physical keys. Seemed like I needed to beg for them.
Parking was a mess, they had people with trailers taking up 6 spaces, the place was packed for some weddings that were held there (more on that later).
Settled in the room, the room was filthy with coffee stained walls and a weird stench. Took a shower and by the time I finished, water was up to my ankle. It drained painfully slow. I contacted front desk who said he would send some one up. I also requested extra towels (something I requested prior and was told they would have ready, they did not)
30 minutes go by and its 11am now, my wife and kids have yet to shower. I contacted front desk again and was told he sent the engineer up 30 minutes ago, I told him to fix it the next day, I also inquired if there was another room we could switch to, that was end of anymore communications from the app, I got ghosted.
All through the night, the guests on our floor was super loud, I mentioned this to front desk, but that did no good. They were loud during the whole stay.
As if that wasn’t already bad enough, we were woken in the morning with loud party music and a DJ yelling through a megaphone at 8am on a Saturday morning. This lasted for several hours. Come to find out it was the wedding ceremony that was taking place outside at the hotel. I have no idea how the Hotel even allowed this to take place!!! It was super annoying and so we are fully awake now for the day.
We got ready and went to the lobby, I requested to speak with a manager, which conveniently they did not have one on site. I explained the situation I was having with noise and the room. Will at front desk apologize and got us another room, we had to pack and move everything, hotel did not offer to help us move, only providing vouchers for breakfast for the stay which we had and did not take up on the next day, it was bad. I would rather pay for breakfast elsewhere. The new room we had was the Same size, no upgrade for the trouble. Ironically, this room did not have any baths soap or shampoo but we didn’t find out till 11pm.
There’s only 2 elevators which get REALLY busy during checkout. We were waiting for 15 minutes to ride the elevator when an older couple came out the room and jumped us in line, I told him off but he was not bothered nor shamed, only to apologize AFTER they got on the elevator. I said loudly to my kids, “This is what you don’t do, and don’t let me catch you doing this”.
All in all, I do NOT recommend this property. The ONLY thing it has going for it is it’s location, walking distance to all the attraction downtown and food options that you should definitely check out instead of the food offered at the hotel.
I will make sure I remember this place as I will stay far as possible from it. Holiday Inn, Hampton Suites are all right there next to it.
Best choice we’ve found so far for a HIlton property in this area is the Hilton Garden Suites, everything about this property is good except the parking which it shares as a public...
Read moreI stayed at this property due to a family reunion. I have traveled and stayed in numerous Hilton properties all over the US and I can truly say this was the most disappointing stay ever. And here's why.
Because I was traveling with my 90 year old mother, and 80 year old cousin and younger sister I opted for a suite so that we would have more room and possibly host cousins who might want to visit with them away from the noise. Much to my surprise -- and utter disappointment --when I arrived in the room on the 26th I discovered there was no ottoman, no "large desk and chair" coffee table or dining table, etc. in the common area.
The refrigerator in the room was a small college door sized unit and the safe sat atop. Because we arrived so late in the evening I didn't question but later learned from other relatives in regular rooms that their refrigerators were twice the size -- or at least the size of what was pictured on the website. We were staying for 3 nights and trying to accommodate a variety of health and dietary needs in this small unit was a challenge. Thankfully, I had a cooler from our travels as a back-up.
On the second day of our stay, my mother -- in the room with the 2 queen beds -- shared with me how long she had to run the shower just to get hot water. I kind of blew it off until the last morning of our stay when none of us had hot water! So she and the cousin took turns heating up water in the broken microwave (the 3pronged mechanism to turn the microwave plate was missing the third roller.) to get hot water to wash-up before we hit the road. Totally unacceptable given the price for our stay!
I understand that this property is being remodeled. GOOD! I hope in the remodel there will be places to hang towels in the bathroom and the toilet paper receptacles will be in a space which doesn't require one to turn around while seated on the commode to get toilet paper! And, as a woman who frequently travels alone and sometimes enjoys a dip in the pool -- being on display from the lobby is a huge safety risk! My bathing suite went home completely dry because of the pools exposure to anyone coming in the hotel.
I'm giving this review 2 stars only because the staff -- when encountered -- were polite. They were nothing short of what I would expect from a Hilton property. Nevertheless, I feel greatly cheated by the amount charged for this 2 bedroom suite. Sadly I didn't book through the discount booking programs but instead went directly to the Hilton site because of the group stay. However, it was TOTALLY NOT worth the tremendous mark-up/price...
Read moreI've been staying at this hotel once a quarter for the last couple of years after I moved away from Chattanooga. I come back in for business and chose the hotel based on its location, breakfast quality, quietness, and proximity to my work and restaurants in the area. There is still a lot of good points about the hotel but I have noticed a pattern where things seem to be getting worse.
First the good: The location is obviously still great and compared to busier hotels in the area such as the Westin, the hotel is generally pretty quiet. The bartenders are usually great, and my visit this time was no exception. Sierra was amazing. Great personality and handled customers well despite being the only bartender working on most nights.
One complaint this visit was the fact that the restaurant seems to be going downhill. When I first started coming here, the breakfast always stood out. Tons of variety and the quality was excellent. They would rotate items on a daily basis. For example one day there would be cheesy hash brown potatoes. The next day you would have breakfast potatoes or maybe tater tots. The cold fruit station would also have variety where there would be grapes, watermelon, blackberries, and other cold items available. This time that was not the case and it was the same items each day and the quality of those items has also gone down. The eggs are dry and not "fluffy" like the label at the station indicates. It's still better than some continental breakfast options at other hotels though (powdered eggs or the frozen round egg disks).
The hotel is clean, smells great and the rooms are generally OK. The bathrooms are usually the roughest part. They definitely need some attention. The caulking and sealing around corners in the showers are always a mess.
Most concerning this time was the fact that the air-conditioning in the bar was not working. They had fans set up to keep the bartender cool while the customers were sweating. Someone came out and told us that the management/owner owed a lot of money to the HVAC company and they were unwilling to come out to repair the issue because of this. Nice.
I do travel quite a bit and despite having gold status with Hilton and generally good experiences at the Doubletree, I will probably consider other options for my future trips in to...
