We have never been to Chattanooga before and drove up for a weekend getaway from Atlanta. Let’s start with the mandatory valet that parks your vehicle five feet from where you drove up. He let us know that alternative is metered parking next to the parking lot. The rooms were not inviting or comfortable - we’ve stayed at the Hotel Indigo in Nashville and had a totally different experience. The lighting is fluorescent and too bright. My first thought was what is wrong with this room…there’s no artwork in the sitting room. Just bare with those bright lights with green extension cords clamped on the walls. The furniture is stiff and made you want to get up…not stay. The bedroom was fine but the bed was uncomfortable. Before I forget, my husband asked for a room with a view as we’ve never been here before. With 10 floors and a valet parking lot a not full, we were placed on the 4th floor facing the valet parking lot even though at check in we specially asked to be away from this and were told “absolutely we can do that for you”. We left for dinner with the valet giving us our keys to get our vehicle that was literally in front of us. There’s no need to tip as they don’t do anything. Side note, the valet was on another planet - glassy eyes and just not really there which is a shame. Went to the Boathouse for dinner which was lovely. Now getting to sleep at this hotel, the heater/AC was a disaster. Cutting on and off aggressively every 30 seconds (there is a sign in the room that says it doesn’t really work and to use a remote) my husband finally had to turn it off. If you have to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, don’t flush it sounds like you are on a 757. Needless to say, not a good nights sleep along with the bed wrecking my back. We head down to breakfast only to sit there alone for 15 minutes. We had to go to the front desk to get the waitress out of the kitchen. Not sure what’s going on here at this hotel, but we will not be coming back. Sad for our first trip to Chattanooga. Don’t be fooled by online pictures. We spoke to the front desk on our way out and explained our frustrations. She was apologetic and waived the...
Read moreI will start off by saying that the chef, kitchen staff and food were amazing!! The food was some of the best hotel food I’ve had in a long time. However, my overall stay was unsatisfactory. To start, my husband and I were 20mins from checking into the hotel when we received a call stating the system overbooked and we could no longer receive a King Suite. We were then told that they could take something off the room and give us free breakfast. I agreed because at this point with most hotels downtown having no availability, we didn’t have any other options. The other issue was that there was only one working elevator and we were told it had been down over a month. I read in the reviews regarding it; however, thought it would have been fixed being that we were traveling there over a month later. Nevertheless, it was not and the bed in the room was very uncomfortable and the TV came on when it wanted to. My husband and I traveled to TN to take my mind off things because my Mother passed away at the end of March a few years ago and he wanted to treat me to a nice getaway. The experience at the hotel definitely left a sour taste in my mouth. I was advised by Management that I would receive points for the inconvenience and that did not happen. I understand things happen, but the situation could have been handled differently especially since I was overcharged since I did not have a suite. I should have been charged the King room rate and that did not happen. I have a copy of my receipt to show I was overcharged compared to another guest that had the same room as were did and they were charged a lower rate because that’s what they booked. We wanted a King Suite but was given a regular King room but was still charged $200 a night! This is unacceptable and I would love if this matter could be addressed. A weekend that was meant to bring me joy, caused more stress...
Read moreI made my reservation online through the IHG website which was seamless, offered several property options along with the best rates and member perks. Since we were on the road our dates were subject to change, which they did. When I called the property Nick at the Front Desk changed our arrival date to one day earlier. He also assisted me with the departure date. Our stay overall was great there were however a couple of glitches. Upon arrival we were initially assigned room 809. When we arrived in the room we noticed a dog barking very loudly in the room next door. When we came down our Front Desk Agent graciously apologized, called the dog's owners who were off property and changed our room to 1001, a corner room on the top floor which had great views. However, because it is a corner room on the top floor it is subject to outside weather conditions more. There was extreme cold during our stay, the heater in the room did work, and we did raise the temperature but it was on constantly. It was so loud, we had trouble holding conversations, listening to the TV without blasting it and falling asleep. We know you can not control the outside weather. I would not assign this room unless you had to during extreme cold and at least have space heaters available. Each property has its own quirks, just inform your FD Agents and Engineers about the quirks of the top floor and corner rooms. I am also a former IHG employee - former Kimpton Front Desk Supervisor and retired Clefs d'Or Concierge. You have a beautiful property and top notch staff. Everyone we encountered greeted us - Parking Valets, Front Desk Agents / Supervisor, Hotel Engineer and wonderful and friendly Housekeepers. We will return to this property, perhaps not during another flood or sub-zero cold, for our future business in...
