We had a wonderful stay at this location. The facility was extremely clean and the property was well kept. The view from the rooms are wonderful. The lobby is nicely appointed and features several beautiful lounge areas with a bar and escalators going up to the second floor where the large meeting rooms are. For those who smoke, you can access an outdoor smoking area directly behind the front desk. As you exit this particular set of double doors, you will see the smoking area which is also besides a locked outside seating area complete with a wonderful gas fire pit.
Paid parking is provided underground and is expected in the downtown core of most cities and so Chattanooga is no exception. The daily rate at the time of this review is $15 per day. The front desk staff will issue guests a hang tag that you can use so that you do not incur hourly rates as hourly rates are also available (for folks who may be attending events on site or visiting someone or simply not paid hotel guests).
The elevators are accessible by using a room card. You are brought to your room in the glass see-through elevator cars that announce the floor you are arriving on.
As you exit the elevator, there is a small nook that features an icemaker as well as a soft drink vending machine.
The one king size room has a full bathroom that shares a door with the clothes closet. Basically, this is a barn style door that slides between the closet and the bathroom itself. I found this very unique in a hotel room setting and learned to appreciate the efficiency of having only one door to slide back-and-forth. The flatscreen television in the room lets you stream Netflix (using your own subscription of course) or YouTube. As with most TV set ups, you are able to hook up your devices for game play it use the wall adapter beside the tv to hook up your laptops, etc.
The thermostat appears to be powered wirelessly, however I was never able to figure it out. Thankfully I brought layers of clothes and felt comfortable adding layers or removing layers as necessary and so I did not call the front desk staff to ask how that worked. I literally push buttons on the unit, but there was no response. The night tables by the bed also offered extra storage with two drawers and there were two side lamps as well as reading lights that were fluorescent. The reading light has the perfect amount of lighting and will not disturb your sleeping partner beside you.
The bedding is definitely something worth mentioning. The pillows were soft and comfortable and the bedsheets felt very luxurious. The down blanket made it super comfy.
There is a small two seater sofa next to the bed. While it was aesthetically pleasing, it had a pretty stiff back. Overall, a serviceable piece of furniture.
NOTE: The staff were incredibly kind and friendly and we loved our room. The only area of improvement, if any, is that the bathroom did not have vent system to remove the steam from a hot shower. This may or may not be an issue for you, but worth mentioning if you don’t want to be too hot after a shower or have to wait fir the steam before using the...

The staff was friendly when checking in and provided the standard welcome you would expect from Marriot, even the valet was friendly and helpful even though I didn't use their service.
After checking in I proceeded to my room on the 11th floor and there was a weird smell of burnt plastic on the entire floor, not oppressive but not pleasant. Entered the room and it was very warm, almost uncomfortable for me at 75⁰. Adjusted the thermostat and proceeded to evaluate the room. It took about 2 hours for the room to cool to 70⁰.
Housekeeping was lacking as there was hair on everything in the bathroom except the toilet thankfully. The shower had wonderful water pressure and they had a separate handheld available to use which I used to rinse out all the hair left in the shower.
Pulled back the sheets on the bed and thankfully they were clean and free of hair. The pillows were the standard feather type pillow that offer no support and the beds themselves were basic and uncomfortable and caused mild discomfort in my back the first night.
Returned to the hotel for my second night and had trouble finding parking which I expected due to events but found something in a reasonable location. Only downside is I paid for parking at $17 a day and they were offering $7 parking for an even that was going on....I was still charged $17.
Had a long day working and didn't want to sit in a bar or resturant so thought I would order room service and relax. Called the rooms service line 4 times and each time was disconnected. Called the front desk and they transfered me with the same result. Tried the room service line a few more times and was disconnected each time. So I decided I would try the bar and kitchen in the lobby even though I wasn't in the mood but still wanted something to eat and drink. Sat at a table in the bar area and was provided a menu that didn't match what was in the room or what was provided at the front desk when I checked in.
I inquired from the waitress if the menu was different from the room service menu and she was very apologetic but explained they were serving a limited menu due to the number of guests in the hotel. I was polite because it wasn't her fault but not happy because what I wanted to order was not on the menu they provided. The bar manager came to speak with me to make sure everything was OK, he was very professional and polite and I couldn't fault them for the issue. While I know room service is a luxury, it would have been nice to take advantage of the service the hotel was supposed to offer.
I travel for business to the Chattanooga area often but will not be staying at this...
Read moreWe were traveling for a gymnastics meet at the connected convention center. Neither refrigerator in both our rooms was working which would’ve been no big deal if that was the only issue with our stay. However, at about 10:30 PM another guest decided to smoke in their room on the 16th floor and the fire alarm was triggered. The in room lights began flashing and with a few minute an announcement came across the speakers to evacuate the building. So we woke all the children and half dressed headed for the stairs two doors down. From the 9th floor we made it down 2 flights to the eighth floor before another announcement was made that we could return to our rooms. While I appreciate their caution, if they were going to evacuate the building for an “emergency” then the fire department should be clearing the building and giving the ok to return. We were back in our rooms before the fire department even arrived!!! Was it really an emergency? Did you really need to wake children out of their sleep and scare them half to death? Did you really need to send people half dressed out into the icy rain just to turn them around with a shoulder shrug “it was for your safety”? Was it for my safety? The ten minutes it took for them to investigate and turn us around because IT WAS NOT an emergency did NOT save our lives. What it did do is disrupt sleeping children who had to be up at 6:00 AM and go compete in a very dangerous sport if you are not mentally focused and physically rested. What it did do is traumatize guests. Oh you thought that was the end of this nightmare, I wish. The kids did finally get back asleep although the adults did not, so a good breakfast was definitely in order. Placed a call to room service at 6:30 am just to be told it would be two hours before they could get to us. Left with no choice since the only diner close was only doing dine in and no tables available since they were expecting a large party from one of the many events going on at the convention center, we paid the the unreasonable cost for the buffet offered at the hotel just to be once again disappointed. It was your garden variety continental hot breakfast at another hotel which you don’t have to pay $18 a head. The line was long, the food gone, and the staff was doing the best they could to refill. The hotel was beyond unprepared!! We will never stay at this Marriott again and Marriott will not be our first choice when booking rooms in the future for any stay Gymnastics...
