We went away for the weekend to destress. When we got there all seemed well. We were greeted and the staff seemed friendly. However, we get up to our room and there’s barely any room to move around. There are no closets, there’s a couple of drawers under the bed But there is nowhere to set your stuff except for a small table and a chair. The first night at around 11:30 pm one of the valets let a homeless person to use the restroom and she ended up pulling the fire alarm. So throughout the entire hotel while we are trying to rest from a long travel in, we had to listen to the fire alarm going off For 30 minutes. When it first started, I called downstairs to see if there’s anything that we should do when The answer the phone they were just unprofessional laughing and carrying on while none of us knew what we’re supposed to be doing if we should evacuate et cetera. But then again, I don’t think it bothered all of the people that were downstairs on the first floor in the bar area playing pool, singing karaoke till after midnight and you could hear them loud and clear on the second floor where we were. Then the hotel is obviously downtown so good luck getting any sleep with the cars that are sitting there at the stoplight right by the windows revving their engines. The most aggravating part I think of this entire trip was the parking situation period. You can get valet parking for $16 or you can self park for $22 which makes no sense. So we chose self parking because they told us that there was parking right around the back of the hotel for guests. We were able to find a parking spot when we got there but we also arrived at around 4:30 pm. We left and had dinner and came back and there was not one single parking space open for paying hotel guests so we went into the front to ask and they said that there was overflow parking which was way out in the back lot unlit no security in downtown Chattanooga. I don’t think so. They said it was other people parking in the hotel guest parking spots that were going to other restaurants, hotels et cetera. The point is there is no parking, unless you find a place to park and Uber around town you will spend most of your time finding a place to park. So if you are wanting to distress, don’t stay here because you will get so incredibly frustrated at the fact that you just paid $22 to have secure assigned hotel guest parking and you can’t fund a spot to park!! There is a $50 deposit that you were not told about until you get there and so far. I’m on day three and still not have received my deposit back. The door to the bathroom does not stay shut unless you lock it, and the hot water at the sink we had on full blast and it was barely warm but then the people beside us we would hear their toilet flush and then all of a sudden our water would get really hot. Is it Clean, yes but what’s the point of staying in a clean hotel room? If you have noise the entire time you are there you can’t find a place to park and they allow anybody and everybody to come in and use the bathroom and then you end up staying awake all night because of a fire alarm and people downstairs making a...
Read moreMy teenage daughter and I enjoyed our weekend stay at this Moxy location. The decor is vibrant and modern. The service was too notch.
I had read the comments from past reviewers and was prepared for the small room size. The room is small, sure. But it’s still roomier than cruise ship cabins or staying in an RV. The rooms have a minimalist design but we lacked for nothing.
Despite the hotel being fully booked, we didn’t encounter issues with slamming doors or hearing our neighbors. We set the thermostat up so the fan ran 24/7 and it created a nice white noise. There was a bit of outdoor noise at night. Mildly rowdy people on the hotel patio or a nearby brewery. This wasn’t enough to prevent sleep. There were a couple of fire trucks our first night but that’s nothing the hotel can control. All in all, I wasn’t bothered by noise like other reviewers had mentioned.
The hotel staff were great. From the moment we valeted the car and checked in at the bar, everyone was very friendly. Our room’s lock had a dead battery and we couldn’t get into the room our second night there, but a staff member helped us quickly and we were back in our room within just a few minutes. Retrieving our car from valet couldn’t have been easier. They have a text system and our car was always ready within 5 minutes. They even have the option to tip online if you find you’re short on cash.
The most important win for me was that the hotel was immaculately clean. I loved having hard surface floors instead of carpet. I’d also be remiss if I failed to mention the shower. It had options for both a rain shower and a more intense spray. I’ve already started shopping for a similar option at home!
The Moxy doesn’t offer a free breakfast but these days I find the offerings at a free breakfast are pretty lackluster. There’s an amazing coffee bar downstairs and I strongly recommend the PBB breakfast sammie.
The ONLY thing that would prevent us from staying again is how firm the mattress was. We both tossed and turned and I had a hard time sleeping through the night since I couldn’t find a comfortable position. However this is the only negative thing I could possibly say about our stay here. It’s a gorgeous property, well maintained, and the staff...
Read moreWe really wanted to love this hotel but there were a few things that made our stay a little more difficult. First off, we really enjoyed the ambiance of the hotel. It was very stylish, cultured, and relaxing. Upon check-in, we were promptly greeted and given the keys to our room. After going up, I realized that we didn't receive any info for breakfast, as I had purchased it as a part of our stay. So we went back down after grabbing some food and we received our breakfast tokens but no time or instructions were given as to how it worked.
Then the lights in our room, 323, started flickering as if they were experiencing an electrical shortage. Literally every main light: the entryway, ceiling light above the bed, and both bathroom lights would not stop. We dealt with it the first night but couldn't do it for the remainder of our stay so we requested maintenance. Well, the maintenance guy didn't do too much as he told us he was just going to change to light bulbs so we were hopeful that would work but when we got back to the hotel later in the night the same problem still occurred.
So we requested a room change but were not really compensated for the inconvenience of having to pack up all our things and move down the hall. The next morning we decided to give breakfast a try but since we weren't informed how it worked, we asked one of the employees, Giovanni, if he could help us out. Well, he pointed to a menu with a qr code which took us to their food page but there weren't really any breakfast items besides few bagels. We ordered those but had to pack it up since we had to leave for the day.
Our final day, we checked out but was not asked how our stay was. We turned in our last breakfast tokens and Maggie was super helpful as she showed us what items were available as well as coffee options. I wish we had received this info upon check in as it probably would have changed our opinion of the place. Overall the inconvenience as first time guest was a real bummer but we'd be willing to give...
