This is an update to my original 1-star post. I've been here several times in the past 2 years and there are more tellers and the line isn't so bad now. I usually have to wait 5 minutes or so. Also, they have self service machines if you don't want to wait in line. I normally buy my postage online then take the parcel to the post office so I can get a receipt. The teller said I don't have to wait in line for that anymore. The self-service machines give receipts for postage you already purchased online. Just get the receipt then drop it in the box behind the counter. Fast and easy. 20 people in line. Only one teller working. Two other employees are just having a personal conversation. Once I made it to the window the teller was polite and apologized for the wait. She said the other employees weren't trained to work the window. Recession or not, a facility this big (and possibly the only one left downtown that hasn't closed permanently) really needs more than 1 teller.

Always hate this post office. Run by workers who are rude, unhelpful, and just waiting to retire. Picking up packages makes them groan and take up to 15 minutes. Forget getting your passport here. Half the time there is no one to help you during “open hours”. If you’re paying for a PO BOX, they’re now closed on the weekend. Hours to check them have shortened to just weekdays, 7am - 7pm, so good luck if you’re working and commuting with rush hour traffic in between your shift. Edit: They decided to take their OWN holiday Christmas Eve without any notice or signs and now I can’t check my PO BOX for Christmas cards/gifts. ZERO STARS FOR ZERO SERVICE.

attention‼️🚨‼️🚨‼️🚨 to day and time 3/22/24 11:40am I came to Make a passport application the representative was so disrespectful to me so I confronted him with my politeness what He was doing wrong He clearly took off his name tag the felt of guilt he committed so I won't report him and he won't give me his name the most disgusting and disrespectful clerk I ever met in person ... This is the proof I have and he's in downtown ladies and gentlemen at clark st serving the polite people his disrespect and rudeness let's see how Chicago and United States post office handles this.

RETURN EDIT: I returned today to have my passport set up. The lady I had originally spoken with directed me to go to the UPS store across the street to have my photo taken. I returned with photos in hand and the process was smooth from that point on. A big change from the last time I was there. I'm glad I was treated equally today, especially from the same woman.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: I went in to see if they had a kiosk to print my passport photos I had previously taken. The woman at the counter looked at me like I was an absolute idiot for thinking they would have one of those. She then asked to see the picture (Not sure why it would matter as there was apparently no way they could pull the photos off of my phone) and made this twisted face like it was a hideous picture. She then sent me down to the lady to the far left. I stood in the line (There was only one woman there who was being serviced) and the new woman at the counter snapped at me, saying "Ma'am, you need to fill out the clipboard." I walked over and filled my name out, and returned to the line. She then snapped at me again saying "MA'AM, did you fill out the clipboard?" "Yes?" "Then you need to go take a seat." (Mind you, these words come with a negative look and tone I can't convey over text) I just kind of blinked at her for a minute trying to figure out what I did to this lady to make her so rude to me. I had a seat and she called me up a few minutes later. After I explained to her I needed to just print the pictures and I knew I apparently couldn't do them here, she told me they could take new pictures for me there for $15, which I didn't want to do because I already had the pictures done. I left to have them developed somewhere else and just didn't go back because I didn't want them to treat me poorly anymore for the day. I'm just overall disgusted with people treating customers like garbage as I try to go out of my way to be nice to people and this kind of behavior is really unacceptable I feel. Hopefully they can get some decent staff that actually values their jobs enough to at least pretend...

2/28/2025 3:00pm My dad and I went in to this postal office to get him a passport and photo service by appointment. We were met by a man. I didn’t get his name but there is a review a couple scrolls down where his face is shown by Kailsumi Castillo, who had a similar experience to ours. The clerk is a young bald man. He was really rude and impatient with an attitude. My dad and I aren’t the type to confront people with an attitude, we would rather just not come back but his attitude was making us a nervous so we asked him to take it easy. We weren’t super familiar with the process and my dad struggled understanding this man because english is his second language so I tried to guide him through it as this clerk was speaking but he was speaking with such annoyance that it was nerve wrecking.

I don’t recommend that you come here if you are looking for a welcoming and patient service. Especially if you have little idea with what you’re doing. We chose to come here because it had the most recent appointment available but if you have to wait to go to a another post office then I recommend that you wait. Based on the reviews prior to mine, I can tell that management hasn’t taken any action to better their service.

I myself work in customer service and I know how frustrating it is to get some bad apples but a bad experience should not be passed to the next customer. We were treated poorly by this man the second we were called over.

Please be patient with customers. They’re not working the job you’re working. They don’t know the information that you do.

Please consider going to another post office and read on the reviews if this concerns...

Read all the one star comments and I totally agree with them . Yesterday I came to drop off a package with prepaid label, which should be very easy to process, but it took me almost about half an hour and this place is not even busy at that time. The lady at counter YELLED at me to acknowledge me I need to buy a tape for label 🙂 Like do you know how to speak to people with manner? After I leave and came back with my wallet, I saw her laughed while chatting and helping with the white women which was stand behind me in line, which makes me feel weird because of how she treated me just a few minutes ago. Completely a different attitude. When the woman left, I thought she was calling me because she was saying something to my direction so I step forward. Then I was completely ignored while she’s doing her paperwork and talking to ppl. After asked her two times, she ask me to leave the counter and see the label in front of the counter - Please wait until you are called by the clerk. Wow, I was wondering how can an ill-bred person like her work in such nice building in downtown? As a customer, I feel like I am the one who serves her. I would definitely back to use UPS because their staff will never embarrass customers and having such a low...
