Hotel Káterina is a stunning new boutique hotel in Chico, California, and even during its soft opening, it’s clear this place was built to raise the standard.
From the moment you walk in, you’re surrounded by thoughtful design and upscale touches. The lobby is welcoming and stylish with modern wood textures, while the hallways are like an art gallery — lined with fashion-forward portraits that give the hotel a distinctive personality.
Food & Drink:
The Rooftop Located on the 5th floor, The Rooftop offers beautiful views, modern seating, and a great vibe for sunset drinks or small gatherings. The food menu is upscale yet approachable, with dishes like: • Rancher’s Double Smash Burger – $22 • Sweet Heat Chicken Sandwich – $22 • Truffle Fries – $14 • Wagyu Meatballs – $17 Happy Hour runs from 2–5 PM with 20% off all starters and grazing boards. I ordered a beer, and pricing was fair, especially for a rooftop with this kind of ambiance.
The Lounge Downstairs, The Lounge serves the same menu in a cozy, indoor setting with stylish furniture, soft lighting, and mounted TVs. It’s perfect for a quieter experience or a casual meetup.
The Rancher’s Daughter This is the hotel’s signature full-service restaurant. I haven’t dined here yet, but the dining room is beautiful — well-lit, thoughtfully arranged, and ready for full service soon. I plan to return for a proper meal and will update this review when I do.
Room Impressions:
I had the chance to tour one of the rooms, and it left a great impression. The layout was clean and modern with a balcony, spacious bed, and tasteful décor. The bathroom featured a walk-in shower with black tile and terrazzo-style accenting, upscale fixtures, and a clean, minimalist sink area. Plush robes and sleek furniture rounded out the room — everything looked brand new and well-designed for comfort and function.
I’m not listing the room rate since pricing may change during the official launch, but it looks like excellent value for the quality and experience provided.
Amenities & Notes: • Complimentary Bicycles are available for registered guests only. • The Pool is expected to open in mid-July 2025. Until then, guests are allowed to use the pool at the sister hotel next door. • Staff have been courteous, professional, and welcoming. • Public spaces are exceptionally clean and well-maintained, showing a strong attention to detail.
Final Thoughts:
Even before its full launch, Hotel Káterina already feels like a destination — not just a place to stay. With elevated food options, stylish rooms, and a rooftop lounge that competes with anything in the region, it’s clear this hotel was designed to impress.
Whether you’re a local looking for a refined place to grab a drink, or a traveler searching for your next stay in Chico, Hotel Káterina deserves a spot at the top...
Read moreWhat a great new find in Chico! Our daughter attends Chico State so we go up to the various family events during the year and have stayed at a few places around town. We saw Hotel Katerina’s ad while looking for a place to stay this weekend and decided to give it a try. We are so glad we did!! We hope to stay here from now on when coming to Chico! The location is about a 10 minute drive away from downtown and the main campus. The hotel offers a car service which we did not have a chance to try, as well as bicycles! The lobby is really fun to stroll about. It’s decorated in a “mod” look. Check-in and check-out were quick and handled nicely. The front desk staff was extremely helpful and friendly. As a matter of fact all of the staff, the front desk, bar service, restaurant service, housekeeping, just about any worker we ran into at the hotel was more than willing and able to assist with anything making us feel extremely welcomed. The rooms are furnished in a minimalist, clean look and have wood floors. Our room (#436) was spacious and spotless with a large window overlooking open space. It had his and hers robes, a mini bar stocked with wine, cocktails, sodas, water and munchies, plus some great coffee. The bathroom was large and well set up. We didn’t get to try the pool but we liked the comfy look of their chaise lounges. We did try their rooftop bar and on a Thursday night when we went, it was lively and fun with really great and imaginative drinks (horchata mai tai anyone?). I had some Schramsberg sparkling wine and my husband had a couple of mojitos he said were great. We also shared a great cheese platter. Prices at the bar were reasonable. Overall we had a great time. We are really looking forward to...
Read moreI'm going to start with saying the bar tenders were amazing. Both of the girls were sweet and attentive. This is the end of my good experience. We did show up without a reservation. The hostess said she just needed to clean off a table and we should go to the bar and have a drink. So that's what we did and 24 minutes later she had not approached us. She did seat two couples after us. I just assumed they had a reservation. We had a drink and my husband finally went over to ask if we were going to be seated. I want to add that the restaurant was not packed. There were 7 tables open and we were only a table of two, which the entire back wall has tables for two and only one was being used. I hope to God that this girl was not profiling my husband but that is the feeling I got. Maybe he's not the aesthetic they're going for. There was no reason for her to tell us that she'll go clean a table if she couldn't seat us. After the two couples came in their was no other customers wanting to be seated. It was about 7:15pm. We watched her prepare multiple tables but we were still not seated. I would of even been satisfied with her telling us that they were waiting for a reservation but she didn't even acknowledge that we were waiting. After he went and spoke with her and she told him she couldn't seat us we left. I was so excited to try this new restaurant but we will not...
