It's hilarious that the owners of this "hotel" (I use that term loosely since in actuality this is a motel with advertised renovated rooms) can get away with charging what they do per room. My mother booked a "Superior King" room for 3 nights which totaled out to a whopping $440. Let me tell you, there was nothing superior about this room.
The angles of the photos and the lighting make this "hotel" look appealing, until you actually walk into the door of your room. First off, the room has no bathroom door, and to optimize on space there is a full body mirror that works as a sliding door for the bathroom. That would be a fantastic use of space, had that door actually CLOSED and didn't continue sliding open every time you tried to close it. Which leads me to the bathroom. For almost $500 for 3 nights, you would think you'd actually get a decent sized bathroom. Good luck finding any room to even brush your hair or even position your knees when you want to sit on the toilet. I kid you not when I say that had a person who was on the larger side of the weight spectrum walked into that bathroom, they'd have probably gotten stuck seeing as the wall is less than 2 feet from the sink. The bathroom is the size of a closet, and in that nature completely unfit for someone handicapped.
Instead, the wonderful people who were in charge of renovations decided that the makeshift kitchen area needed more room than the bathroom. I was in SO MUCH more need of a giant kitchen area fully equipped with 4 sets of plates, bowls and utensils (and no table to actually use all those things) as opposed to space to actually properly shower and use the bathroom. So good job on that one.
The woman at the front desk made it a point to mention how "quiet" this area is. There is nothing "quiet" about this motel when there are people sitting on the chairs outside talking and it just bleeds through the paper thin walls.
Last but not least, the bed. The most important part of a hotel room seeing as you only really book a hotel room to sleep in it. For starters, the headboard creaked INCESSANTLY, which made it almost impossible to sleep properly should someone decide to get up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. When I say it creaked incessantly I really do mean the slightest movement produced the loudest possible creaking and there was virtually no way to fix the issue without just removing the headboard completely. The mattress itself was just not comfortable at all without even the slightest bit of proper support for your back. And of course, the pillows that were essentially just giant bags of air that would constantly refill when you tried to squash the air out.
All in all, if you want a good vacation, spend a couple of extra dollars and stay at the Hilton. You get fantastic beds, giant rooms and a complimentary breakfast as a cherry on top. Hotel Cabana was a JOKE.
And just as a tip, renovating a motel does not magically make it a hotel. The layout is still that of a motel, so don't think you're fooling anyone with that name please.
And as an addition, it seems the owner has responded and was under some misconception that my mother did indeed enjoy her stay at this overpriced motel. Let me just say that my mother who was getting ripped off in fact urged me to write and post this review, as well as gave substantial input on...
Read moreI really wish I could have given this motel a 5 stars but every interaction we had with the front staff was unpleasant. When we went to check in we were immediately scolded that we should have gotten a text and our keys should be an in an envelope with our name on it in the mail slot in front of the motel. We had not received any text.
There was no in room cleaning service which was understandable with Covid but there was a note on the dresser that we could put the laundry hamper outside the door between certain hours and they would change it out for us. Outside of those pick up hours it said we could go to the office and they would take care of it for us. Because I didn’t hit the hours in the morning for new linens I had to go to the office and I was told that they don’t do that but she would get me a new towels if I stuck my stuff outside the door. She was not happy with me. I explain the note that was on the dresser in the room but was told that wasn’t true. I felt like I was a burden having to ask for anything. I kindly left the note that stated I could go to the office on top of my dirty laundry for when she picked it up so she could see it.
The parking is very limited. We only had issues with the parking one time and when I went into the office to mention there was nowhere to park and ask for an alternative the lady growled at me and said she would give me a pass but let me know there was only two of them left that they have to pay $500 a year for and that parking was first come first serve.
I found the office staff crude rude and unpleasant. During our stay I came in contact with three different office staff. On two different occasions I heard guests coming out of the office mentioning how rude they were. The cleaning staff on the other hand were friendly and pleasant as they would pass by us in the hallways. They made us feel extremely welcomed. I could see them thoroughly cleaning and sanatizing each room.
This facility is an older motel not a hotel. They still use metal keys. The location was wonderful. It was more on the northside of Clearwater Beach away from all the hustle and bustle but just a short walk to all the fun and restaurants. I walked across the road every day to the beach and it took me five minutes from my hotel room. The room and bathroom were very small but they were extremely clean. The bed was very cozy and comfortable And there was a nice large big screen TV. Although the room was small the space was efficent with adequate storage. There were no chairs in this room other than a small decorative stool. The pool was warm and clean and right outside our door. Each morning they set out fresh coffee by the pool house and that was a wonderful treat each day. They had a rooftop lounge area you could lay in the sun or watch the sunset and we utilize that...
Read moreThe best hotel stay I have ever had in my life!! I was coming here from an Airbnb on the Cleveland Street side of Clearwater so I had very high expectations. I was checking out of my Airbnb at 10 AM. I just assumed hotel check ins would not be available before 3 PM. Andrea the GM texted me and told me my room was ready before noon. Wow! The contact less check in was super smooth. I was texted my key less code and room number as well as exact location of room and BAM! I am in the room. I mean, I can imagine how the stars in Miami and LA must of chilled in their hotels and cabanas in the 50s and 60s because this had a serious hip and cool 1960s luxury vibe to it. My room was poolside on pool level and off the street so it was super quiet. The bed was a Serta and it was quite luxurious to say the least. I mean you just are one in union with the bed. I really loved the use of the small space. There is no chair or table in the room because, lets face it, whose coming to Clearwater Beach to sit in their room and eat or watch TV or work for that matter? You have everything you need in the room. A mini fridge is provided. It was just big enough to hold my can of Yuengling and Smirnoff Ice. The room had a humidifier, a wall air unit, and a ceiling fan, all electronically controlled. On the wall is mounted a 46-inch Samsung flat screen. The picture and sound are amazing!. Fresh coffee was served poolside each morning. The pool is heated and while I did not have a chance to go in it, it was crystal clear and calm. The surrounding seats were plentiful. I sat poolside for a minute but I mean, the beach will always be calling. The bathroom shower is huge. Plenty of plush towels and two beach towels were provided. You have beach chairs and coolers for your day at the beach. As for the beach It is right across the street. The most beautiful beach in all of America is right across the street! I went to the beach for like 5 hours every day and just vibed with all the beauty and natural pristineness of this God created oasis. After a long day at the beach, I walked back to the hotel, showered and headed into town, which is a nice 10 minute walk. So this place is close enough to the action but far enough away from the action not to be touristy, Their are dive bars and a few other low flung motel type rentals in the area. There are no neon lights or tshirt shops. No Starbucks or chintzy souvenir shoppes. All that is in town a short walk away. You come here to escape all of that. The entire staff at Hotel Cabana was five star and if I can still afford it after Covid I will be back for a longer stay! Great job Andrea and your entire staff. I...
