Went here Halloween night, there was a tall bartender with grey hair and glasses (was told by other guests, his name was Jeff). All we had was Apple Pay when asked to start a tab. We let him know that we could pay as we go or if he wanted just our names. It was loud (I’m a combat vet, so my hearing is gone), I tried to let him know I couldn’t hear but he just kept talking over me. We could tell he was in the weeds (busy and not organized, behind on his orders). We let him know it was cool, we would do whatever he wanted and we were willing to wait, as my friends and I are bar owners ( we totally understand the industry and how hard a Halloween night can be). He looked confused about Apple Pay. I handed him my phone, he took it to his POS system. We saw him flipping the phone over repeatedly over the terminal (clear indication he didn’t know his system nor Apple Pay). We walked down the other end of the bar to see if we could help. He was very agitated, I told him we were in the bar business and he screamed “you said that 3 times already”. I asked him if he was ok? And he walked away. He came back and said “ don’t worry about it, “I’m taking care of your drinks so I don’t have to hear you complain”. The two guys that were sitting by the POS terminal looked at us and said “wow, that guy is crazy”. Shipwreck is a really cool laid back bar, but this guy “Jeff” or whoever he is, was either having a really bad night or needs to rethink his industry choice. I’ve had some wild experiences before, dealt with various personalities and generational culture, but this was wild for a Clearwater bar from an older gentlemen. Contemplated writing this, but as an owner of multiple bars, I would want to know if an employee was running...
Read moreMy fiance and I were visiting Clearwater Beach with another couple, and someone recommended we check this place out as we were looking for a chill bar. As a travel agent, I was researching places to recommend to my clients, and I was pretty glad to have found this place at first, but after my experience, I will recommend my clients avoid the place.
The bartender (Vito maybe?) was extremely rude to my fiance BOTH times we visited. He asked him for a drink while he was down at our end of the bar and he acted like this was the rudest thing that had ever happened to him. He very sarcastically said he had other drink orders, and we accepted this and apologized. However, he kept going on and on about how rude it was for him to ask for a drink and that he was so overwhelmed and busy and couldn't we see that? (There were maybe 15 people in the bar; clearly, the dude wouldn't be able to handle the crowds of a popular place in Clearwater Beach). Eventually, I was so uncomfortable that I asked to close out, and we left.
We went back the next night, thinking it was maybe a fluke; however, we got the same bad attitude that night as well. Plus, a lecture on how this bartender refused to wear a mask when it was state-mandated. He tried to pull some bs story about how it made him cough. What a baby.
The only reason for the additional star is the woman bartender, Charity, who also seems like the manager/owner. If it were just her, we would have stayed all night and spent hundreds, I'm sure. But it is what it is, I guess. I...

Worst restuarant ever, beware of crapy service, crap food and they...
