I'm a Diamond Hilton Honors member, and I typically stay anywhere between 60-90 nights in a hotel per year. Having said that, I have never experienced such an awful hotel stay and experience. More importantly, I have NEVER been bitten by bed bugs. NEVER.
I should have heeded the numerous red flags and warnings upon checkin and immediately switched hotels. On September 20, 2022, I arrived just after 9 pm for a one-night stay, and my digital key didn't work. Definitely an annoyance, but admittedly a minor inconvenience. I went back down to the lobby and the receptionist gave me a physical key. When I went back to the room and opened the door with the physical key, I noticed that the deadbolt didn't work. I went back down to the receptionist and asked her to switch rooms. She politely switched my room to another one. I went back up to my new room, and guess what? There were dirty towels all over the bathroom floor. Once again, I went down to the receptionist. (If there's a silver lining in this story, it's that the receptionist was super polite and professional) The receptionist promptly gave me yet another room. I went back upstairs to the 3rd room of the night. This one wasn't perfect (housekeeping neglected to properly clean bathroom corners of hair and debris, and there was a random iPhone charger left in the room), but because it was late, and I was only there one night, I thought everything would be fine. Also, it's important to note that at this point, I had been assigned a room on 3 different floors - 6th, 3rd, and 2nd - and on every floor there were bags of trash piled outside of numerous guest rooms.
Fast forward to the next morning, I attempted to use the hotel gym. The AC wasn't working and both treadmills were broken. Go figure. I opted to skip breakfast due to my health and safety concerns about the hotel.
Now this is where we go from bad stay to horrible stay... When I arrived home that evening, I noticed bites characteristic of bed bug bites. I can say with certainty that these bites were NOT present prior to my stay at this hotel of horrors. I wish I had read the reviews prior to booking this hotel because it seems I'm not the only one who has been the victim of bed bug bites in recent weeks/months. It seems quite negligent for the property to conduct business as usual knowing there's an issue (dare I say infestation?) with bed bugs.
Needless to say, I will NEVER be...
Read moreTHIS IS BY FAR THE WORSE HOTEL I HAVE EVER STAYED IN! I am active duty so needless to say I did not have much of a choice regarding the hotel I was able to reside in while I attending training here for the past 7 weeks. When I arrived I noticed that there was mold in the shower area and that the floors were very dirty. I called the front desk and they said that they would have house keeping take care of it the following day due to them being gone for the day. The next day comes and goes and nobody ever rectifies that issue. My air conditioner stops working and nobody every contacted me to inform me there was an issue, I obviously found out once I got back to my room from school and when I asked the front desk I was told that they had tried to contact me but did not have my cell phone number. When I checked in and made the reservation my contact information was on there, but that is neither here nor there, so they proceed to tell me that they would like for me to move rooms. I agreed but at that time I had to leave for class and was unable to move my belongings at that time. I was asked if I would like for housekeeping to move my stuff and I said absolutely not since I noticed that a pair of my head phones were missing along with a ring. I complained to the front desk about that as well and they just looked at me like a deer in headlights and said "oh we are so sorry, here is a incident report form just fill it out and we will investigate". So I did, and you guessed it, NOBODY HAS CONTACTED ME IN REFERENCE TO MY MISSING BELONGINGS. I finally had a break from class and moved rooms and at that same time I was asked again what my phone number is and I almost lost my bearing, like seriously? I have given you all my phone number five different times. Housekeeping is awful here, I am always looking at my towels making sure that they are clean and since they are more dirty than not, I just went ahead and invested in my own towels and I just wash them on my own at the onsite washer and dryer that is provided. The staff is the Most unprofessional staff that I have seen in quite some time. Not to mention there is a sewage plant next door so the smell is awful and never goes away. If you have a choice PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE. You will be annoyed and find your patience being tested on a...
Read moreI checked into my room to find the heat didn't work and the door jam had major pry marks on it as if someone attempted to break in. This was disturbing since it was the last room on the 5th floor and right next to the exit stairs. They put me in another room and the heat didn't work their either so 3rd time is the charm, and the 3rd room was fine. The lady at the desk told me to speak with management in the morning. I spoke with Mariam the manager who promised to add enough points to my Hilton rewards account for a 1 night stay anywhere there is a Hilton for the inconvenience. She said to call her and remind her on Monday, but my trip wasn't going to last that long as I was heading back to Massachusetts on Sunday. She knew my checkout date and was probably hoping I would not call or get tired of chasing her. I called Monday and she dodged me for at least 1 week always too busy to come to the phone. I finally had to complain and she said to give her a couple days to add the points. More chasing and the she finally added 30,000 points which isn't even enough to stay in the room I rented. I find that to be poor service and unacceptable for a major Hotel chain like Hilton. Hampton Inn is leaving a black mark on Hilton's reputation. Somehow I feel my race (African born in America) gave her the confidence to ignore me and not do what she offered to do. Every chance I get I'll share this story. Oh and they knew about the pry marks, stating someone locked themselves in the room and they had to access it. But didn't fix the door, I don't believe it because they have spare keys in case the guest loses it. Let's put the African in the messed up...
