Spark feels like a hotel that was rushed in the construction process and skipped the punch list.
To start this place is actually nice for the price. The rooms are comfortable and modern and at least feel clean. They provide great storage space with plenty of hanging space and storage cubbies. Rooms offer great lighting and plenty of power plugs.
My biggest issue is with the bathroom. They are clean and well put together but for the room my wife and I shared the body was was falling off the wall. It looks like they didn't use a wall anchor for the screw. The back splash was splattered with paint, the toilet water line had paint on it. The light switch cover and outlet covers had paint on them.
It feels like a place where construction was rushed and not reviewed for better quality. These are small things that don't provide or detract any living comfort or quality.
Again I would emphasize that the price makes these things negligible at best. When rooms are as low as 65 per night that's the best price you'll get. The halls may smell and look weird, the rooms may start with a notable odor of some kind but the price makes up for these gripes. Overall happy enough but if you're good to swing a couple extra bones just stay at best western next door or another surrounding hotel.
Update: my wife and I stayed for an extended stay (about 3 days) and this hotel is cozy and comfortable. Much of the minor details mentioned before are easy to overlook. Overall the hotel is comfortable for the price.
On our second stay I would say that the previous odors weren't as noticeable the room felt cleaner. The staff was wonderful and helpful and I was more than satisfied with how responsive they were when we had any needs.
Breakfast is pretty mid with an average selection of options. My recommendation is that you arrive early before others do because it makes it easier to get in and out without the traffic of waiting on others. The waffles are the best, and the fruit choices are limited at best at least when we were there.
The showers are really great with good water pressure and also with complimentary shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Overall I'm happy with the quality of the hotel for the price point. The location itself is perfect being that if there are things you'd rather go out and get there's good access to the highway and plenty of...
Read moreWhere do I begin with this place. At arrive of this place we were ignored by front staff who were to busy talking with one another. Once they noticed we were waiting we were met with a very rude woman who was not welcoming at all. She ask our reservation and for the deposit witch I handed cash to her. Then she told me they don’t take cash for the deposit. We booked on trip.com and it said that cash is payable as we have waited for deposits to come back before for a long time. At this point she got aggressive that the website said we could pay cash and she told us to call them as it was “not her problem” at that point I called her out for being rude while getting my card out to pay then she told us we were not staying here and could go somewhere else when asked for a refund we were told no. We I asked for a manager I was told the is no manager at first then she called for an employee to come from the back who was the “manager”. I let my wife handle the rest as I went outside before things got worse. $100.00 deposit is required if you wanna sleep her which is absolutely insane for a landlord special of a hotel this is. On trip it is advised to have a hot tub. There is no hot tube on this property. The rooms are small and renovated poorly. To turn the ac on in our room you have to turn the thermostat to heat.no dresser to put clothing away. Bathroom is very cramped. You hear everything outside and in the hallway from people talking to doors opening and closing. Happy Hilton wants to put there name on affordable hotels but this is not it. Very sad Hilton see this as a way to get people to stay with them for about 30-40 bucks more you could stay at an actual Hilton or any other their other properties that actually have a good standing. Spark is unfortunately a budget motel with that Hilton name on the side. To the manager/ owner I would love to have a conversation about how your employees treat guests. As I have never felt for disrespect as a paying customer. And I have stayed at high dollar hotels and I have stayed at 30 bucks a night places and this is the worse I have ever been treated literally trying to hand a business cash and was told we don’t take cash then was told we are not staying here and to go somewhere. Disappointed...
Read moreWe planned a short vacation and I found this on Hiltons website for a very low price other than the $100 damage fee which seems very high for an old hotel. Well you definitely get what you pay for. First room we had we heard a dog nonstop barking next door. So we had our room changed.
This hotel is undergoing renovations, well not the best renovation. I’m a building maintenance technician and this place is in need of much better maintenance. The elevators are old, outdated and rickety and very dirty but somehow gets you to your floor. The hallways have fresh-ish paint on it but not very good job on the painting. The room we had, had paint on the fixtures and lamps. One lamp next to bed was flickering. The bathroom is tiny and outdated. The vent fan did not work. The bathtub spout sprayed water while you have the shower head on. The doors are ancient wood doors and you can tell they just slapped some paint on them. You can hear people slamming their doors waking you up. You can hear everyone talking and yelling. The hallways have ceiling tiles popped like they were feeding wires inside the ceiling but never put the tiles back so it looks very bad. The beds were comfortable but pillows are terrible. No drawers to keep your clothes out of sight. No safe in room to keep valuables. Bottom line we won’t be staying here again. It did serve a purpose as a place to sleep but this hotel doesn’t live up to the Hilton name. But it’s a budget hotel. Low prices.
I will say that the receptionists were polite and friendly and accommodating us with changing our room. It’s not their fault that the hotel is the way it is. Management was polite. This is definitely a budget hotel so if your staying one or two maybe 3 nights it’s decent but personally i don’t think we will stay here again. The location was good for what we had planned but I will be picking out a better newer hotel next time...
