Stayed here for four days while at a training event in town, in room 124. I travel often, and have stayed in plenty of holiday inns. I suspect 124 is the worst room in the hotel, which means my experience may not be reflective of other units, and I'll explain why.
I was staying in the basement rear corner near the stairwell, which had an access door for guests. Due to the unusual shape of the property, the rear parkinglot is where 90% of the (VERY limited) parking lies, which is accessible primarily through said access door. This means starting at about 6am, the door would open and slam every ten minutes or so as guests from pretty much every floor would leave through the same door. It wouldn't be such a problem, but the door is just on the other side of the wall where my bed was, like a foot from my head, and it would rattle my whole room.
There are also a pair of chairs nearby where guests sometimes sit and have loud, extended conversations, leading to further disturbances. Since the window to 124 is next to the main walkway to the main parking, passersby often leered into my window, though I suppose it's possible with any ground level unit honestly. Because the pool is also on this level, the hallway typically smells of chlorine when coming and going as well.
My television would default to the weather channel in the morning, which is fine, except the TV simply displays a "you have not paid for this channel" message just as it does for many of the channels. The mini fridge makes annoying ticking noises in addition to the expected hum, and while it might not bother other people, I had to drown it (and the other noise) out with the fan to be able to sleep peacefully.
My shower contained two body washes (one empty) and a conditioner (also empty), and no shampoo. The front desk staff were nice enough to give me some mini bottles after the third time housekeeping failed to address the situation, though on the final day they did finally correct this issue. When my sink jammed shut and the shoddy plunger mechanism wouldn't open it, I had to resort to using my pocket knife to get it open, that was fun.
The good stuff? Decor is nice, the bed and pillows are comfortable, the desk staff are helpful. The location is pretty convenient, and the room has nice amenities like a Keurig, microwave, mini fridge, iron w/board, etc. Pool and fitness center appear nice, though I didn't use either. Breakfast is decent and served until 9:30, though the bathrooms for the breakfast area are on a different floor oddly.
Overall, for the price, it's a solid eh. This town is big enough that you have access to plenty of other chains, and I'd recommend checking...
Read moreUpon entry the room looked clean and modern. Their was a fold out couch, desk, Queen sized bed, fridge, microwave, tv, large window with blinds, chest of drawers, and bench/seat. The furnishings were modern and stylish as well as clean! The bathroom was modern and clean as well. I especially liked the shampoo, conditioner and body wash station which was mounted in the shower and refillable by hotel staff! This is great for the environment and helps the hotel keep prices down for guests. ||I did my normal cleanliness inspection with my white gloves and there was no dust on surfaces. The shower sink and floors were cleaned thoroughly. I love the laminate flooring because it’s great for people with allergies or pets. I have a ADA service dog and no one gave me any grief about her. Even though it’s illegal many places give a hard time &/or refuse them anyway. The window was cleaner than any other hotels I’ve stayed at this year! The air filter has been cleaned before we arrived and after prior customer, which I know because I always take the filter out after unpacking at each and every hotel and almost always the filter is full of dust. That always tells me hope thoroughly the hotel cleaned and follows the cdc’s new Covid protocols!!||Since I am high risk if I catch Covid it is important to me to be up to date on cdc, who, and all scientific information on the virus. This is why I comment on the various aspects of cleanliness especially those that affect likelihood of catching Covid. Such as cleanliness of room, air filter cleanliness, type of heating and air conditioning ( central means air moves faster from one room to another thus spreading germs quicker versus room units that pull air from outside into the heat or cooling area then put into the room). This room has the safer room unit that pulls fresh from outside. The window opened albeit only slightly. With Covid upon us it’s better to be able to air your room fully each day as the cdc suggests every room in every home be aired completely each day!! I wasn’t able to watch the cleaning protocol to see if the staff used fans to completely change out the dirty air in the room between guests. This requires fans to do in a timely manner and Windows that open fully help too! ||The pool was for use by guests in the same room via 45 minutes of time with time between guests left for staff to clean. I didn’t see if staff actually cleaned or not between guests, but the area was pretty much free of touchable surfaces so there wasn’t anything to clean except the towel rack, light switch, and door knob. ||As always holiday inn staff was professional, helpful,...
Read moreWhile moving across country, my family had some unexpected car issues and were stuck in Colorado Springs. We searched for a room that offered double queen beds and didn't have much luck until we stumbled upon Holiday Inn Express Colorado Springs North. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Sterlin and Alex at the front desk. Sterlin was SUPER helpful and polite about getting us checked in. The property is in great shape and really clean and modern. We were surprised when we walked into our room and saw how large it was - 2 queen beds plus a pull out sofa sleeper that was clean and cozy (usually those things are dreadful , but not here). After a long day, my husband and I wanted some coffee and were pleasantly surprised to find a Keurig coffee maker in the room. Knowing we were going to have coffee right away , as well as in the morning, I went to the front desk to request more. Alex was so gracious and gave us extra coffees and assured me that if we needed anything at all, not to hesitate to ask. The bathrooms were really clean and stocked with bath & body works toiletries and plenty of towels. The beds and pillow - my oh my were they just as cozy (if not more so) then the ones at home! The fridge actually worked properly and was clean (unlike a lot of places). The pool area is really nice and towels were available poolside which is always nice. Breakfast was good, wish the pancake machine would have been working but the cinnamon rolls were delicious and my kids loved the fact they had all the fixings to make cinnamon toast! The coffee - oh goodness did they have some good coffee that actually was robust and didn't just taste like water. The only negative was that dogs were allowed and everytime I got in the elevator or walked down the hall, I had a poodle or other dog sniffing and licking me - gross! Not a deal breaker though. This property and its staff are top notch and I would recommend this place to everyone! A huge THANK YOU to Sterlin and Alex for making turning a stressful morning into a remarkably...
